GRAPHIC VINYL MATERIALS 3M™ Controltac™ Plus Graphic Film Series 160 Use this 4 mil, vinyl film to produce screen printed, long term durable graphics. Applications include graphics for bus, commercial vehicle or fleet, emblems, striping, interior and exterior graphics and signs, mass-transit interior advertising, point-of-purchase or trade show displays, vending or dispensing machine and color graphics. Internally-illuminated graphics can be produced using translucent frost version of this film. Graphics will have a matte finish when using 160-30 aque white or 160-32 opaque black film, or a translucent frost finish when using the 160-60 translucent frost film. The film is printable with enamel inks and is scuff-resistant. Installation of large graphics is easy with this film beacause 3M’s patented, pressure activated adhesive allows it to be temporarily repositioned until pressure is applied to the film surface. The adhesive of the opaque white or opaque black film is gray-pigmented for excellent hiding power. The translucent frost choice offers clear adhesive. The film applies well to flat surfaces, either with or without rivets. Appropriate substrates include glass, metal, paint, and rigid plastic. This film can be removed within 5 years using only heat, leaving little or no adhesive residue; some exceptions to removal apply.

Appropriate substrates include ABS resins, aluminum, chrome, glass, fibreglass-reinforced plastics and paint. Removal of this film is fast and clean, leaving little adhesive residue. 3M™ Controltac™ Plus Graphic Film with Comply™ Performance Series 180C Use this 2 mil, opaque film to produce signs, emblems, striping and graphics for fleet, vehicle and bus applications. It is a durable film used to screen print logn-term, interior or exterior graphics that can withstand severe weather conditions in industrial or commercial locations. The film is available in a variety of sizes in a wide selection of glossy colors or matte black. Installation of large graphics is easy with the Comply™ Performance feature of this film. This is a mechanical feature that allows air to travel through the adhesive, so there are usally fewer air bubbles and the film can be applied with time-saving techniques such as large squeegees. The pressure-activated adhesive allows the film to be repositioned during installation until pressure is applied to the film surface. This graphic film applies well to flat or corrugated surfaces, with or without rivets, simple curves or moderate, compund curves. Appropriate substrates include ABS resins, aluminum, chrome, glass, fibreglass-reinforced plastic and paint. The film can be removed using a heat or chemical system.

This film, which is the same color on both sides, has a transparent synthetic liner that resists moisture absorption and static buildup, lays flat for easier assembly of multicolor graphics, and allows superior cutting and weeding. 3M™ Scotchcal™ Translucent Graphic Film Series 3630 Use this 2 mil, translucent, cast vinyl film for permanent, durable interior or exterior graphics on internally-illuminated sign faces or awnings. It can be used in thermoforming with rigid plastic surfaces under well-controlled conditions as described in 3M technical literature. The low surface gloss eleimates glare and provides a uniform color in both reflected and transmitted light. The translucent synthetic liner facilitates multi-color registration, has superior lay-flat characteristics in all shop humidity conditions, adn does not split if wet . GRAPHIC VINYL MATERIALS 3M™ Scotchlite™ “Flat-Top” Wide Angle Reflective Engineer Grade Sheeting 3M™ Scotchlite™ “Flat-Top” Wide Angle Reflective Engineer Grade Sheeting is a highly durable, adhesive coated opaque sheeting. Engineer Grade Sheeting remains brilliantly reflective even when totally wet by rain. It also retains its reflectivity when viewed at wide entrance angles.(These materials are for use as industrial signing materials only and are not warranted for use on vehicles.) Sheeting series 5200 is designed for the production of small signs and markings which may require application at low temperatures and for applications to moderately rough surfaces. Sheeting series 5200 is not intended to be used for large signs.

3M™ Scotchlite™ Flexible Reflective Graphic Film Series 680 This enclosed-lens, retroreflective film is intended for making permanent, durable graphics. Applications include multicolor commercial vehicle graphics, railroad graphics, commercial signs and striping. Graphics subjected to fuel vapors or occasional spills can also be made with this film, and it is ideal for large graphics and graphics applied to corrugated substrates. This flexible film has excellent angularity, retains 90 percent of its retroreflectivity when totally wet, and resists cracking in cold climates. Graphics made with this film have similar daytime and nightime appearance, and film 680-85 has a black daytime appearance but reflects white at night. The combined thickness of the film and its adhesive is .007 to .008 inch. The adhesive is positionable and pressure-activated, which allows it to be repositioned during installation until pressure is applied to the film’s surface. The adhesive is clear with silver underneath. The film has a 94 pound, polyethylene-coated paper liner. It applies best to flat, flat with rivets, moderate compound curves, or corrugated surfaces. Recommended substrates include aluminum, FRP and paint. This is not a removable product. Heat helps take off the top layer, but removing the adhesive requires a solvent-based remover. 3M™ Light Enhancement Film 3635-100 3M™ Light Enhancement Film increases Sign Luminance. A light box or channel letter contains lighting elements that illuminate the front sign face and trasmit some light to the viewer. However, much of the illumination is reflected or absorbed by other materials in the light box. The white sign face materials typically used in cabinets trasmit only about 25% to 30% of the light that strikes them. The white face material can absorb as much as 15% of the light and reflects the remaining light back into the cabinet. Light from the rear of the light source and light that is reflected back into the cabinet strikes the cabinet sides and back. Some of this light is reflected and soe of it is absorbed. The light enhanceing characteristics of this film will be minimized if dark colored rigid plastic faces are used. This is due to the very high rate of light absorption and low rate of reflectivity of such faces. 3M recommends testing the faces before reducing the number of lighting components.

This film is most efficient when the total face is 10 to 35% transmissive and a low rate of absortion. The following constructions are examples that fall within this range; other constructions may be possible. 3635-100 film is intended for covering all interior opaque surfaces within single-sided, internally-illuminated cabinets.

3M™ Dual-Color Film Series 3635-200 a Light Management Film 3M™ Dual-Color Film Series 3635-200 is part of 3M’s family of light management products. Two components of this unique film contributes to providing maximum color clarity and backlit brightness both day and night: the dual-color perforation patern and the light mangement adhesive (patent pending). Use dual-color film to create the special ef effect of a color/image by day (non lighted) and a different color by night (backlit). This is acheived when perforations in the dual color film. From a typical viewing distance for large format graphics, viewers will notice little or no perforation pattern. However, the colors and the construction option you use will affect on how visible the perforation pattern is. Dual-color film is available in black or white or a customer-specified color. It is designed to be used with 3M™ Scotchcal™ Translucent Graphic Film 3630. The white dual-color film can also be screen printed with 3M™ Screen Print Inks to expand your options even further.

3M™ Scotchcal™ Perforated Window Graphic Film 8171 allows a full range image to be seen on the outside while allowing viewing through windows from the inside. A 50 percent perforation pattern enhances light transmission. This short-term, removable, first surface film is designed for screen printing graphics. Note: 3M™ Scotchcal™ Perforated Window Graphic Film 8174-10 has less light transmission than film 8171 and is an alternative for applications where the density of the outside image is more important than the viewability through the window.

3M™ Scotchcal™ Translucent Film Series 3632GPS is the same durable, dimensionally-stabel, cast vinyl film as 3M™ Scotchcal™ Translucent Film Series 3630, with the addition of a GPS (Graphic Protection System) top coat for incresed durability and cleanability. Its low-gloss surface eliminates glare and priovides a uniform color in reflected and trasmitted light making it ideal for awning and sign faces. This film is thermoformable. Film series 3632GPS is intended for making permanent, durable graphics when used with compatible products. Some of these uses include for interior or exterior use on Internally-0illuminated sign faces and awnings, for first durface application to 3M™ Panaflex™ Awning and Sign Facing 945GPS and for thermoforming with rigid plastic surfaces under well-controlled conditions. Gerber Holographix is a 3.7 mil, light-diffracting, metallized, vinyl film that has been coated wth a permanent, pressure-sensitive acrylic adhesive. Gerber Security Label Stock Gerber Security Films are 2-mil, dimensionally stable, polyester-based films that resist tearing and abrasion. They have been formulated for use with Gerber Digital Color Printing Systems and GerberColor™ foils. They are coated with a tamper-evident adhesive system and are backed with a 90# lay-flat liner. Gerber Security Label Stock is available in chrome silver. Gerber Security Films are ideally suited for a wide variety of commercially and industrial label applications in which tamper resistance, heat resistance and dimensional stability are required. When labels printed on Gerber Security Label Stock are adhered to substrates such as stainless steel, acrylic, or polypropylene, a “VOID” pattern will be left behind when the material is removed. The removed label can not be reapplied. The user should determine the suitability of all substrates prior to actual applications. Activation of the tamper-evident feature will occur approximately two hours after application at 60 to 75 degrees F. Theis feature will become permanently non-functional when continuously exposed to temperatures above 104 degrees F. Gerber Heat Transfer Paper 2 Gerber Heat Transfer Paper 2 has been formulated for use with GerberColor™ L.T. Foils and Gerber Digital Color Printing Systems to produce graphics which can be transferred to fabrics with a heat press. It utilizes different software settings and a different application process that the original formulation of Heat Transfer Paper. Be sure to select the correct material in GSPPlot. Gerber Heat Transfer Paper 2 can be used with GCLT foils to create four-color images or spot color jobs. The combination of Gerber Heat Transfer Paper 2 and GerberColor L.T. foils will produce wash-fast images when applied and maintained correctly. The images can be transferred to UNWASHED, 100 % cotton, cotton/polyester blends, and 100% polyester. Transfer to openmesh fabrics, nylon-treated fabric with silcon water repellent, or waterproof canvas fabrics is not recommended. The user should determine the suitability of all fabrics before final transfer. Gerber Heat Transfer Paper 2 requires a cold peel process.

Gerber PermaGrip™ Film Gerber PermaGrip is a durable, permanent cast vinyl film that has been custom formulated by 3M™ for use with Gerber Digital Color Printing Systems and GerberColor™ foils. It is dimensionally stable adn has an extremely aggresive pigmented adhesive system that provides suoerior hiding power when applied over colored surfaces. Gerber PermaGrip is edge-stripped to eliminate build up of adhesive residue on sprocketed equipment. GRAPHIC VINYL MATERIALS GerberVision™ Perforated Window Film GerberVision is an adhesive backed, perforated vinyl film custom formulated by 3M™ for use with Gerber Digital Color Printing Systems and GerberColor™ foils. GerberVision has a white front for image reception, a black backing and a clear adhesive. Because the film is perforated, the black backing side can be seen through. The adhesive allows removal of GerberVision graphics up to one year after application without leaving and adhesive residue on most substrates.

GerberV GerberVision window film can be used on flat, transparent substrates such as vehicle and store windows. The film can be applied to a variety of substrates including acrylic, glass and polycarbonates. The user should determine the suitability of all substrates prior to actual application. Optimal visual results will be acheived if the light source on the printed side is stronger then that of the adhesive side. The film is not intended for backlit applications or applications where contact with petrochemical spillage may occur. This is the same pliable vinyl as Convex, but with HIGH-BOND, a special adhesive that is very hihg tack, non-slip, and has excellent adhesion to low energy plastics such as fenders and number plates on motorcycles and quads. All Convex and Pro Sheild laminates are compatible. HighBond also adheres to powder-paint found on many machinery surfaces. And is coated with 2 mils of adhesive as opposed to 1 mil for better bonding to rough textured surfaces.
