Scripts Pro Overview Scripts Pro screenwriting app is designed specifically for screenwriters to provide industry standard formatting and editing capabilities on their mobile device. Scripts Pro is compatible with popular desktop file formats such as Final Draft 8’s .fdx, Celtx’s .celtx, and .txt. Note that Scripts Pro 3.0 works with iOS 5 or later. Let’s Get Started Shall We?

Scripts Main File Menu Create a New Script 1. Tap the “+” button in the Scripts File Menu. This will bring up the Title Page info box. 2. Tap Update once the information has been filled in.

Import a Script File Scripts Pro can import the following file formats: • .fdx (Final Draft 8) • .celtx (Celtx) • .txt Once scripts are imported on any device they are automatically synched across all of your devices using iCloud. Note: iCloud is automatically enabled. You can disable iCloud thorough your device settings. Import from Dropbox 1. 2. 3.

Tap the import button. Tap Import from Dropbox. If this is your first time the Dropbox login/password box will appear.

You will only need to login once on your device. Your script files will automatically appear the next time you import. Import from Email 1. 2. 3. 4.

Open the device’s Mail app. Locate the message with the email attachment. Tap and hold the attached script file. Choose Scripts Pro as the option to Open in.

Your document will open automatically in Scripts Pro.

Tap the import button. Tap Import from iTunes. The iTunes file list will appear. Connect the device to your Mac or PC. Select the device from the Devices section on the left side of iTunes. Click the Apps tab and scroll down to the bottom of the page. Under the File Sharing section select Scripts Pro. Click Add to retrieve script files from your computer. Click Sync when finished.

Your files should appear in the Import from iTunes file list.

Tap the Edit button. Select the file(s) to export. Tap Export to Dropbox. Select the file format you wish to export to Dropbox. Select the Dropbox folder to export to. Tap Choose.

Tap the Edit button. Select the file(s) to export. Tap Export to Email. Select the file format you wish to export to email.

The mail app will launch with the script file attached in the message. Export to iTunes 1. 2. 3. 4.

Tap the Edit button. Select the file(s) to export. Tap Export to iTunes. Connect the device to your Mac or PC.

Click the Apps tab and scroll down to the bottom of the page. 9. Under the File Sharing section select Scripts Pro to retrieve your scripts. 10. Drag and drop files from the Documents list to a folder on your computer.

Tap the actual file name text to be renamed. Rename the file and tap Done.

Tap the Edit button. Select the file(s) to delete. Tap the trash can icon.

Scripts Editor The Script Editor is where the real creative magic happens. You have access to all the tools you need right at your fingertips. Features like element formatting, character/scene menus, undo/redo changes, script previewing and even printing. The Script Editor displays your script in a speed view. Speed view allows more of your script content to appear on the screen and allows for faster processing of your script. Tapping the Script Preview screen does the heavy lifting by processing your script and transferring it into pages you can flip or scroll through. This methodology provides the most accurate pagination for your scripts. Scripts Pro auto-saves your work, so you don’t have to. In addition Scripts Pro has iCloud baked in. This will help you keep your work up to date without interrupting your writing. Your scripts with all the latest edits will automatically appear on all your iOS devices.

Element Formatting You can change script content to elements like Scene Headings, Actions, Characters, Dialogues and Shots directly from the toolbar with ease. Use the Tab and Return buttons to apply formatting as well. Tab and Return The Tab and Return buttons allow you to change your script content to the various elements types. With these features you don’t have to worry about formatting. Elements are set to industry standard formats, which include font styles, margins and spacing. Tab Button Tapping Tab in an empty paragraph cycles through the elements available. Tapping Tab when a paragraph is not empty (and the cursor is at the end of the text) will function the same as tapping the Return button. However, if the text content is a character, element options for the Tab button will be either Dialogue or Parenthetical.

Scripts Pro - User’s Guide Return Button Tapping Return will take you to the next paragraph. The next paragraph’s element will automatically be selected for your based on the previous paragraph’s element. The following is a list outlining the elements created for the next paragraph based on the last paragraph’s element. Last Paragraph Next Paragraph Scene heading Action Action Action Character Dialogue Parenthetical Dialogue Dialogue Action Transition Scene Heading Tapping Return for a new paragraph will bring up the Intelligent Element Selection box. Tapping any of the elements will automatically format your line accordingly. Based on cursor position the Intelligent Element Selection status automatically updates in real-time indicating the current element for paragraphs and content. To change the element type of text simply click within it and choose the option from the Intelligent Element Selection box.

Auto-complete Pop-ups Scripts Pro provides you with auto-complete pop-ups to eliminate redundant typing so you can focus on writing. Characters, Scene Headings, Transitions and Locations are all saved in the database and will appear in the pop-up as you type the first letter. As you enter more letters the list will narrow to the closest match. Simply tap on the item from the pop-up and it will be entered into your script. Note: When entering a Scene Heading separator dash “-“ the time list will be displayed.

Scripts Pro - User’s Guide Undo/Redo In the iPad, Undo/Redo buttons are found in the iOS’s built in keyboard. Use the following steps to access these buttons. Undo 1. 2.

Tap the “.?123” button in the iOS keyboard. Tap the “undo” button to undo any changes.

Redo 1. 2. 3.

Tap the “.?123” button in the iOS keyboard. Tap the “#+=” button. Tap the “redo” button to redo any undo changes.

Note: You can also Undo/Redo changes by shaking the device. A prompt will ask you to confirm the action. This works for the iPad as well as the iPhone.

Rich Text Formatting Scripts Pro uses rich text formatting, which means you can add bolding, underlining, italics and even see imported text colors in your script. RTF formatting is preserved from your Scripts Pro back to your desktop.

Highlight the text to apply RTF formatting. Tap the right arrow in the pop-up for more options. Tap the RTF option to be applied to the text and Voilà!

Script Editor Tools For the iPad you’ll find the script tools in the vertical toolbar. For the iPhone they’ll be located in the keyboard area which can be accessed by tapping the “…” button. The toolset includes the Character Menu, Scene Menu, Title Page Info, Script Preview and Share and Print buttons.

Scripts Pro - User’s Guide Character Menu The Character Menu populates with all of your characters. From the Character Menu you can edit character names. The changes will be applied throughout the script. 1. 2. 3.

Tap the Character Menu button. Tap the character’s name, which you wish to change. Tap Done once changes are made.

Scene Menu On the vertical toolbar you’ll find the Scene Menu. The Scene menu populates with all of your scenes. From here you can jump to scenes, rearrange or delete scenes. Jump to Scene 1. 2.

Tap the Scene Menu button. Tap the scene to jump to.

Tap the Scene Menu button. Tap the Edit button. Tap and hold the “grip strip” at the right edge of the scene to drag the scene up or down to rearrange the scene. Tap Done to go back to your script.

Your script will be automatically updated with the new scene order. Delete Scene 1. 2. 3. 4.

Tap the Scene Menu button. Tap the Edit button. Tap the delete symbol. Tap the delete confirmation button on the right side.

Scripts Pro - User’s Guide Title Page The title page contains your script title, author contact information, etc. Scripts Pro automatically aligns this information for you once entered. 1. 2. 3.

Tap the Title Page info box button. You can edit and change any of the information listed. Tap the Update button when finished.

Script Preview Script Preview processes your script from the editor and applies industry standard pagination and formatting rules to it displaying the script as it would be read when printed. 1.

Tap the Script Preview button.

Flip through your script like a book, page by page. Or use the speed scroll at the bottom of the screen to quickly scan through your script. In iPhone, tap the zoom button to get a closer look.

Share and Printing For your convenience export options for sharing can also be accessed in the script editor and file menu. To export script files, please reference the section “Export a Script File” in this handbook. Scripts Pro supports printing for all AirPrint enabled printers. Wirelessly print your scripts straight from your device. You don’t need to download any software or install any drivers. With a couple of taps you can go from viewing your script on your screen to holding the printed copy. You can even choose which pages to print. Print Script 1. 2. 3. 4.

Tap the Export button in the script editor screen. Select your AirPrint enabled printer. Choose the options for your print job. Tap print. Done!
