Job Purpose: To support the Head Coach and Assistant Coaches in the preparation of a squad of professional rugby players to compete successfully in all relevant competitions. Through engagement with Clubs and Schools, enhance the reputation of rugby in Edinburgh/Glasgow and Scotland as a whole. To co-ordinate and deliver specific specialist skills coaching to identified players within a team and individual context across the professional squad as directed and agreed by the Head Coach. Communicate the individual skills training requirements to support success at both proteam and National levels.

Ensure that every IPD (individual player development) programme identifies clear measureable goals for achievement of individual skills improvement and put in place systems and reporting methods to demonstrate progression throughout the season. This will principally be through using video analysis to establish areas of work, provide ongoing monitoring and to provide feedback to players and coaches.
Planning and Organising Effective Communication
To liaise and work with designated coaching, technical, medical and S&C staff regarding Teamwork all aspects of player and team fitness, selection and administration. Planning and Organising
To support the Head Coach and other Assistant Coaches in generating and maintaining a culture of on and off field discipline and professionalism, as set down in the Code of

Practice, to support performance success.
Effective Communication
To attend club and school matches and sessions on a regular basis as directed by the Head Coach, with the purpose of:

identifying potential Pro Team players currently playing within the club game
•
developing and maintaining good relationships with local club players, coaches and officials

reviewing the performance of Glasgow/Edinburgh players with their draft club
•
review the performances of the professional Elite Development players playing within the club game
•
assisting with the development of individual skills coaching within the club and school game
To provide appropriate pastoral support as well as on-going general management and development provision for Pro Team players.

To maintain a strong personal commitment to professional development with regards to progression through the elite coaching pathway.

Authorities and Limitations: Works within the direction provided by the Head Coach and Assistant Coaches with the allocated Pro Team. Contributes to the design and implementation plans for training. Contributes to match tactics and planning, player selection decisions etc. Problem Solving: Considers how to improve player skills in coaching specialism. Consider in conjunction with appropriate Head Coach/Assistant Coaches which specialist tactics/strategies to use during matches.

Essential
Qualifications and Attainments:
UKCC Level 3, or working towards the same.
Knowledge and Experience:
Experience of playing rugby at a professional level/high Club level within Scotland
Track record of success in previous rugby coaching roles
Extensive experience and knowledge of the Scottish Rugby Structure
In-depth knowledge of National and International rugby standards
Appropriate experience of coaching competitive rugby for at least 2 years in: • Scottish Premiership of National Leagues • Scottish Age Grade Teams Experience in coaching within the Specialist Skills sessions run by Scottish Rugby Evidence of on-going professional development Excellent communication skills, including confidence in presenting to all audiences (e.g. players, fans, the media) Experience of recognising and developing individual player performance Computer Literate, including Word/Excel/Outlook etc. Competencies:
