This Monday we had a wonderful Chanukah party at Rabbi Konigsberg’s house. You would walk in seeing tasty snacks and drinks on the table, set by the Rebbi and his wife, and everyone’s favourite food; the garlic knots. The Rebbi invited the grade 5-8 boys and many things were planned for that night. The first thing planned was the pizza and fries. Everyone was so excited for this. Once everyone finished eating, the Rebbi introduced one of his students from grade 8 and then afterwards from grade 5 to say a Dvar Torah on Hanukah; both gave a wonderful speech. We then had an insightful Dvar Torah given by Rabbi Konigsberg. All this excitement was followed by the rabbi’s wife serving latkas, donated by Tiara Catering Service, and a joyful sing along of the traditional Maoz Tzur in a new tune. We did Bircat Hamazon and it was then time for maariv, and the rebbi invited 3 guests to make the minyan. The service was done very well by Daniel Vinar from grade 8. Lastly, the traditional game that everyone was waiting for began. The game was concentration. It was a very joyful experience for the students who have not played. Soon enough parents were picking up their kids. That concludes the party at Rabbi Konigsberg’s. Chazak U Baruch Rebbi. Jacob Keslassy On Monday, night, the 6th night of Hanukah, the grades 5-8 boys went to Rabbi Konigsberg’s house for a Hanuka party. There they heard some Divrei Torah given by Jacob Keslassy, Josh Mamann, and Rabbi Konigsberg himself. Everyone had lots of fun and listened to some music as well. There was pizza, cookies, french fries, chips, soda, latkes, and many other treats for the boys to eat and enjoy too. As the time passed by, it got later and later. When it got closer to the end of the party, the boys were able to pray Maariv with a Minyan. Afterwards, they played a really enjoyable game called concentration. To play, you need a lot of

In Science, the Grade 3 Girls have been learning about Plant Growth and Soil. They learned about parts of a lima and mung bean seed. The girls studied the importance of germinating the seed first before planting. They prepared the seed for germination and watched it sprout under controlled conditions. After recording the results of the germinated seeds, they planted them carefully in soil. Then they put their plants under a temporary greenhouse that has been situated in the classroom. After a few days, they saw their plants begin to break ground. Now they are so excited to see how tall their plants are growing! Morah Dina

Congratulations to the Grade 4 Girls and Grade 1 for winning the Rosh Hodesh Classroom Cleanup Contest. All our students worked very hard to keep their classrooms clean & tidy in order to have a successful study environment. The winning classes were treated to special prizes .

Kitah Bet has been hard at work preparing for Hanuka. The girls enjoyed creating beautiful plaques with the tefilot for their families to use during hadlakat hamenora. We celebrated the chag with fun games of sevivon and baked and decorated our very own doughnuts!

You Mean Kids Can Survive Winter Recess?

Secretaries Myriam Troyna 0 Ruchama Gellis (attendance/Lateness) 5 [email protected] Menahel Rabbi Kamenetzky, Extension 1 [email protected] Principal Mrs. Sarah Wasserman, Extension 2 [email protected] Vice Principal Mrs. Sara Cohen, Extension 3 [email protected] Office Manager Jana Cohen, Extension 6 [email protected] Financial Administrator Inna Krukovsky, Extension 4 [email protected] ISP Department Renne Herzog, Extension 5 [email protected]

Dear Parent: Even in the cold winter months, we believe outdoor recess is an important and valuable part of the student’s day. Fresh air is important, even in cold weather! With that in mind, we ask that you consider the temperature and weather conditions when assisting your child with clothing for the day. There may be times when the weather is deemed too cold for outdoor recess. We make that determination on a daily basis, but please remember that on most days we will have outdoor recess even if it is for an abbreviated time. Winter coats, hats, gloves, scarves, warm winter boots and snow pants are most appropriate on these cold days. We realize that temperatures in our building may vary, so dressing your child in layers is a good practice. In addition, please consider labeling coats, gloves, hats, scarves, boots, sweaters, etc. as these items of clothing sometimes go missing. Take the time to check out the Lost and Found at the school office. Thank you for your attention and continued support and stay warm!

Inclement Weather The school will only close on the instruction of the Board of Jewish Education. We ask parents to listen to the radio stations CFRB, 1010 AM or CITY TV for announcements of school closings. PLEASE DO NOT DROP OFF YOUR CHILD WITHOUT FIRST MAKING SURE THAT THE SCHOOL IS OPEN!
