Learner, patient/ client, caregiver and community voices Interprofessional collaboration across the continuum of care

Integrating theory, frameworks, models and evidence into IPE and IPCP

The impact of organizational context Unintended outcomes and unconventional partnerships

Welcome W

elcome to Collaborating Across Borders V (CAB V) from the governing boards of the American lnterprofessional Health Collaborative (AIHC) and the Canadian lnterprofessional Health Collaborative (CIHC) as well as our host, Virginia Tech. A truly global audience, with more than 700 individuals from six countries, is coming together to explore the theme of the conference, The Interprofessional Journey: Advancing Integration and Impact. This conference recognizes not only how far we have traveled along the interprofessional journey but also how far we still have to go. CAB V is the premier North American conference on interprofessional education (IPE) and Interprofessional collaborative practice (IPCP) in health and social care. CAB V was built upon the traditions and successes of previous CAB conferences and is accelerating the journey by engaging the expanding community of individuals, professions and organizations committed to collaboration as the best way of providing quality care and better health outcomes. We hope you will advance your own journey by participating in the many learning and networking opportunities offered at the conference. In addition to our stimulating and provocative keynote speakers, our expansive program includes more than 360 panel presentations, workshops, oral presentations, interactive posters and discussion groups. Enhancing student participation is also an important aspect of the conference. A number of sessions are being presented by students, and there will be a judged “Health Care Team Challenge”. Opportunities to meet old and new colleagues and explore beautiful Roanoke include the Welcome to Roanoke reception and special interest dinners at several downtown restaurants. Special thanks are due to the many people who have helped to shape this conference: the Executive Committee, the Program Committee, the many abstract reviewers, the Continuing and Professional Education team from Virginia Tech, and the Roanoke planning committee. So many dedicated individuals from both sides of the border have worked diligently and collaboratively to bring you the very best in this conference. Please enjoy the journey, as it promises to be informative, thought-provoking, and fun!
