“Super Star” Promotion

A monthly publication of AmeriPlan Corp. 5700 Democracy Drive, Plano Texas 75024 469-229-4500 ®

Publisher - Dennis Bloom, Board Chairman/CEO

It has been some time since we have had the opportunity to communicate to you through the monthly newsletter format. We are proud to introduce our new monthly publication that is intended to keep you better informed about many important items regarding the success of your AmeriPlan® business. You will see for yourselves what we have in mind as you read through this special August / September issue and the coming monthly issues that you will be receiving. As you go through this yet unnamed publication, you will see that inside will be the more familiar “Spotlight on the Stars” that you can remove and use when making presentations to new prospective IBOs. You will also find educational, motivational and inspirational articles and stories, as well as practical tips on finances, taxes and your health. We are firm believers in supporting those who wish to improve themselves and grow through knowledge. This publication is unnamed for this issue only because we are going to give you a chance to name it. That’s right; we are going to have a “name the newsletter” contest. If you wish to submit a name, please email your suggestion to: [email protected]. The winning name will be selected by a distinguished panel, and the winner will receive a new lap top computer or Apple iPhone … your choice. PRODUCT TESTIMONIALS Having been around AmeriPlan® for almost fifteen years, one of the things that impresses me more and more every day is the great savings that our members realize when they use any of our great benefits and providers. It does not matter what program you are in, if you and your members will utilize the benefits, the program will more than pay for itself many times over. From a personal perspective and with the DVPC program only, my family of five has saved more than $36,000 in the past fifteen years. With that as an introduction, we would like to let you know that you will be seeing actual product testimonials

INSIDE AmeriPlan ®

It is our intent to make this newsletter something that you will be proud of and will look forward to receiving each month. The range of content will be broad and it is our goal to see that each and every word will be of value to you in your life and your business. As you well know, AmeriPlan® is a very exciting business and it presents you with one of the greatest opportunities for financial success of any home-based business in America. There is, however, a great deal of information that you should have to assure your success and to make sure that you have the tools and resources at you finger tips to realize the maximum benefit from your efforts.

information. There will be tax tips, financial and health tips. In addition you will find many opportunity and product testimonials to help reinforce that you are in the right place at the right time with your AmeriPlan® business. We will also be having some fun with this publication. Each month you will find scattered throughout the newsletter small boxes with a series of numbers in them. These are active IBO numbers…if you should see your number in one of these boxes, contact your DSM for verification and we will send you $50.00 in Sales Aid Certificates (Bloom Bucks) that you can use for sales aids and tools.

scattered throughout this publication. They are from members and IBOs and reflect just a small number of the testimonials that we receive. We would encourage you to submit any that you have from your own experience or that of your members. We really love sharing these wonderful examples of what great savings AmeriPlan® produces when you use the benefits. Thank you, The Editor

“On 6/26/07 I went to my personal physician for an examination. Shortly after the examination, medication was prescribed for me. I took the prescription to the pharmacy and they told me that it would cost $30.99. Once I presented my AmeriPlan® discount card my total due for the medication was only $5.16. I truly shouted for joy that I was able to save through the AmeriPlan® program.” Shanna P.

If the results achieved and the comments received are any indicator, then we must consider the National Sales Director Training School a huge success. Those who have attended the past schools have been effusive in their praise of Dale Calvert and his down-home approach to successful network marketing. He is a professional in the field, an outstanding trainer and motivator, and most importantly, he has earned more than $3 million a year in network marketing. He has walked the walk and can talk the talk.

FROM THE DESK OF BRENT GOODWIN

CONTEST WINNERS And the most exciting thing ever… the $1.5 million Birthday Bash Drawing … WOW!

One doesn’t have to agree with every decision or policy … it’s how you choose to respond to it that counts. Not too long ago I read the book Gates of Fire by Steven Pressfield. It is about the Battle of Thermopylae, which took place in Greece in about 400 BC. In this historic battle, 300 Spartans faced an opposing force of Persians numbering in the hundreds of thousands. The future of democracy hung in the balance. At one point, the Spartan, Dianekes, was told by a fellow Greek that there were so many Persian archers, the sky would grow dark from their arrows. His reply? “So much the better, we shall fight them in the shade.” Facing 100,000 archers about to rain arrows on your head is no “Sunday picnic.” But the Spartans, rather than bemoaning their fate, chose to embrace the attitude of their leader Dianekes. Their heroic sacrifice at Thermopylae paved the way for the development of democracy in the West. Recently I spoke with an NSD who was concerned about one of the SRSDs in his organization. You see, the SRSD and his sales group hadn’t submitted enough new business that month to qualify for their Builders Bonus. The NSD went on to say that

In recognition of Dennis’ and Daniel’s 65th Birthdays, there were 65 big winners in this spectacular promotion. First of all, 60 lucky IBOs won $1,000 per month for twelve months!

this could adversely affect his entire organization. The whole group could lose focus. Negativity might reign, he felt. Not coincidentally, the NSD had consistently expressed his opposition to the company’s paid-as system. He wrote letters and e-mails to the company stating his dissatisfaction with the requirements in the strongest terms, and his team was aware of his feelings. My purpose here is not to criticize the NSD or his SRSD, for that matter. But in thinking about this article, I recalled something I once heard in a speech. “Adversity happens to everyone in life. It’s not the adversity itself that determines the eventual outcome; it’s how we respond to it that matters.” Things happen that we’re not going to like. We can either allow them to derail us, or use them to make us stronger and more determined than ever to reach our goals. Two points jump out at me. One, it is incumbent on leadership to respond to perceived adversity in a way that inspires others to not only overcome it, but to reach new heights. The NSD

… I was sketchy about getting this program…but, I will not EVER cancel it, even though I have insurance through my job. (What they call “great benefits” suck, and it should be a crime that we pay for it.) … I needed dental work done bad! I went to the dentist and had 3 extractions - 2 were wisdom teeth. COUNT THEM - 3, for only $450, that’s it! I'm even going back for routine visits soon because I want a healthy smile. SO HERES WHERE I KNEW I LOVED AMERIPLAN - I had just gotten a horrible ear infection and went to the doctor…she prescribed 3 medications … I used my "GREAT INSURANCE" through my company. My medicine was $157.60 (shocking); my insurance barely paid

The 5th Place Grand Prize Winners - Clint & Linda Fullwood won $2,500 per month for 12 months 4th Place Grand Prize Winner - Dennis Morstad won $5,000 per month for 12 months 3rd Place Grand Prize Winners - Mya & Rawlin Trent won $10,000 per month for 12 months 2nd Place Grand Prize Winner - Yolanda Vazquez won $20,000 per month for 12 months Super Grand Prize Winners - Diane & Arnold Gonzalez won an incredible $30,000 per month for 12 months

Brent Goodwin Vice President of Sales & Marketing

I spoke with can’t expect his organization to remain positive and focused when he himself is mired in the quicksand of a negative attitude. That doesn’t mean that one has to agree with every decision or policy. But it’s how we respond to it that counts. Second, all of us must take individual responsibility for our own attitudes. Sure, things happen we don’t necessarily like. We can either allow them to divert us from our purpose, or we can leverage adversity into a stronger determination to grow and succeed.

The choice –

and it is a choice – is ours.

anything. I started thinking if AmeriPlan might have been better. I read my card and noticed it was for prescriptions as well. I went back to Walgreens and the cashier said, “Oh yeah, you would of saved a lot of money with this” She refunded me the $157.60 and re-rang it under AmeriPlan … It came out to $65.00! WOW - that made my day! Believe me, I am not one to sit at a computer and write testimonies but I will stand by the membership, It’s a great deal and the people are always there and they call back as soon as they can. This is going to sound dorky, but I LOVE YOU AMERIPLAN!!!!! Thanks

In total, that represents more than $1.5 million dollars in cash paid to our very special business partners …

Congratulations!

Mustang Sally? It could have been, but it wasn’t … it was Mustang “Nancy” … well, Nancy Layman that is! You may remember the exciting AmeriPlan Health® Promotion, “The Spring of Inspiration,” that was run before convention, with the Grand Prize being a brand new, red 2007 Ford Mustang convertible. The Grand Prize was drawn at the convention and awarded to Nancy Layman ~ from right here in Texas! In addition to Nancy winning the Mustang, the following IBOs won some great prizes also: Reginald Stinson won the Las Vegas Vacation for Two at the MGM Grand! Dennis Morstad won the 42” Vizion Plasma Flat Screen TV! Misty Bannister, Sarah Brooks and Sallie Streck each won $1,000 Cash! Patty & Rusty Duke and Ray Howard both won $500 in Cash! Elizabeth Barnett and Roger Moody each won $250 in Cash!

WHAT DO YOU THINK OF YOUR NEW PRODUCTS?

FROM THE DESK OF DERRIC FARRUYA Is your Managing General Representative producing income for you? Wouldn’t you like to have one that is?

We are extremely excited about the July introduction of our new discount program lineup!

Forty-seven million people in the United States do not have health insurance. Many of those people are working and either did not have employee health benefits offered to them or they simply checked “Decline” because they could not afford them. Many others simply could not qualify because of ongoing health issues or pre-existing conditions.

While we have had the best Dental, Vision, Prescription and Chiropractic Program pretty much since our inception and an incredible Physicians, Ancillary Services and Hospital Advocacy Program for the past two years, we have gotten even better.

The AmeriPlan® MGR program was designed to target these individuals via the insurance industry.

certainly make it worth your time and effort. Go to your back office and locate the MGR agreement, rules and regulations. Remember, we pay that agency a full 30% life-time residual commission for their effort. They do not have to pay us a monthly business fee, nor do they have to pay for their materials, and websites come with no charge as well.

Derric Farruya National Marketing Director MGR Program & Group Benefits

First of all, every program is now full household only. Since more than 90% of the plans sold were household, we have chosen to eliminate the individual plan. Next, we changed the commission on the Health Program to match that of the Dental, and all programs now carry a full 30% commission rate. And the most exciting thing is that you now have four fantastic programs to choose from. You can meet the needs of your clients in even more ways that ever before.

“We saved big with the health!! I was in the hospital ICU for two weeks and a regular room for one day. The bill was $14,958. We called the Patient Advocacy Program and faxed them two forms. The bill was discounted down to $950.00, and we were put on a $50.26 monthly payment plan. Now is that awesome or what? We saved tremendously. Thank you AmeriPlan®”

Debbie had pneumonia 3 months ago in February. After 5 days in the hospital all is okay now. They prescribed several medications & antibiotics in which without AmeriPlan’s card would have cost us over $300; yet we only paid a total of $184.16. She is still taking only one now that costs $22 retail, but we only pay $15.38.

NEW “PAID-AS” RULE ENHANCEMENTS Who Benefits? Effective September 1, 2007, this new enhancement to the paid-as rule applies to any IBO who is eligible for Builders Bonus overrides. Example 1:

New Rule Part 1: If in any month (beginning September 1, 2007), an SRSD or higher, achieves Personal Sales Group Monthly Revenue (PSGMR) in excess of the amount required to earn a Builders Bonus commensurate with his/her pin level, the excess amount is “carried over” and may be used to meet the requirement the following month. Excess amounts may only be carried over one month forward, as shown in Example 1.

New Rule Part 2: When excess PSGMR is carried over to the following month, the excess is ALWAYS applied FIRST to that month’s requirement. 4

And last but not least, is a comprehensive Identity Theft Protection Program with both preincident education and preparation and post-incident support and resolution. All of this for only $59.95 per month, plus a $30.00 registration fee. For more information and detailed description of the new NON-Medical programs, check into IBO Support. INSIDE AmeriPlan ®

“I will try my best to make a long story short. AFTER my aunt was diagnosed with Renal Cell Carcinoma she took out the family medical plan with AmeriPlan®. She already had insurance through her husband's job. When the first hospital diagnosed her with a stomach virus and sent her home she was diagnosed & treated at another hospital. After she received the bill, she found out that her insurance would only pay 50% because the treating hospital was not "in network.” Her total (after insurance) was $18,000. Tony from AmeriPlan contacted Peggy, and set up a conference with himself, Peggy, and her insurance. He worked with her insurance and the hospital for a while. When he got back in touch with Peggy, he had WONDERFUL news!! Her insurance had agreed to pay 80% for the surgery, treatment and for a year of procedures and treatments after that. What happened to the rest of her bill? It was completely written off!! Instead of owing $18,000, thanks to AmeriPlan®, Peggy now owes $0!!! How great is that?!?!?!”

I’m psyched about the AmeriSight program.

What do retirees, employees, employers and healthcare providers have in common? The rising costs in healthcare and healthcare benefits are profoundly affecting the way people are delivering and receiving health care. Employers are no longer providing the level of benefits they once offered; retirees (most on fixed incomes) are seeing 9 to 11.2 percent increases in healthcare rates; employees’ salary increases do not match the increase in healthcare benefit costs; and providers face the task of balancing a staff and patients, while working within a patient’s benefits structure. While healthcare costs are projected to increase approximately 11 percent in the next 12 months, we are reminded that this, although still in double digits, is a decline from the 2001 projection of 15.6 percent. Unfortunately, there does not appear to be a lowering of the number of Americans without healthcare benefits … in fact, that number is around 47 million. These are the middle-incomers that do not qualify for state aid benefits, but find they

PROVIDER RELATIONS AmeriPlan Health is Proprietary in 8 States! ®

With over 30,000 proprietary medical providers nationwide, AmeriPlan® is quickly converting many of the states over to the proprietary medical provider network only. Up until September, 2007, AmeriPlan Health® was proprietary only in the states of California, Arizona, Nevada, Arkansas, Indiana, Maine and Louisiana. During the month of September, the states of Texas, Florida, Oklahoma and Georgia will be emerging as proprietary states for AmeriPlan Health®. Only in some selected rural zip codes will the leased medical network still be utilized until such time as the Provider Relations team can contract a Primary Care August / September 2007

Physician to service those zip codes. What impact will this conversion have on our membership? In the above states, we will have a viable and reliable network of medical providers. Our members will continue to call the AmeriPlan Health® customer service number before their first appointment, but the response time will be quicker and more efficient since the customer service representative will be contacting a provider directly contracted with AmeriPlan®. This will enable our members to have greater confidence and ultimately greater satisfaction in their access to healthcare.

can’t afford the high cost of healthcare insurance benefits. In fact, according to the latest Census Income Report*, there has been a significant increase among families with incomes of $75,000 or more that fall into the noninsured group.

So, what is the answer? AmeriPlan provides several healthcare programs that are affordable to the employers, employees, retirees and the self-employed. Additionally, these programs are attractive to the healthcare providers as they are designed for immediate payment at the time services are rendered. AmeriPlan offers a full range of healthcare services that supply our members with ways to save money on their dental needs, medical care, diabetic supplies, lab services, prescriptions and many other healthcare costs. Healthcare costs are continuing to rise, but AmeriPlan is committed to providing an alternative to those who are uninsured. * Census Income Report, August 2007

Eligibility for Hospital Patient Advocacy When a member joins AmeriPlan Health® they may not have immediate access to all medical services, including the Patient Advocacy Program. Although a 30day waiting period is customary with health insurance plans, AmeriPlan Health® does not have this requirement. However, a processing period of 3 days is required on all medical applications to access the Patient Advocacy Program.

TOP PRODUCER TRIP 2007

Quebec ~ A Little Bit of Europe, Close to Home If you want to visit Europe, but don’t want to cross the Atlantic, where do you go? The answer is Quebec, Canada. AmeriPlan’s top producers enjoyed five glorious days this past August roaming the narrow cobblestone streets of one of North America’s oldest and most beautiful cities.

Executive Sales Directors

Nestled near the mighty St. Lawrence River, Quebec City is charming and picturesque; its European architecture and old-world atmosphere served as an ideal backdrop to AmeriPlan’s Top Producer Trip 2007. Situated in the heart of the old city, our top producers were housed at the luxurious Fairmont Le Chateau Frontenac.

Trip Highlights: AmeriPlan’s guests were treated to a fabulous welcome reception and dinner. Live gypsy jazz, great food and a visit from Samuel de Champlain, the city’s founder (played by actor “Stephan”) highlighted the evening.

The next day, the group divided into teams for an exciting photo rally. Each team had to locate landmarks throughout the old city and take a picture of the team at each location. Judging was based on finding the correct landmarks and the creativity of the photographs. Needless to say, our top achievers

Ray & Chanel Blackmore – TX Walid Bounenni - MI Michelle Gillyard - NY Aline Houston – TX

submitted some amazing pictures! Cash prizes were awarded to the winning team, and the pictures….well, they were confiscated by the Canadian authorities! Congratulations to the winning team:

Fatima & Orlando Epson (Captains) Dennis & Karen Morstad Mary & Ed Taschner Brenda Viel & Paul Milano The top producers enjoyed a host of activities on the trip. Several intrepid souls went on a breathtaking whitewater rafting excursion. We are happy to report that search parties rescued all participants safely, although one person who shall remain nameless was arrested for heeding the call of nature from a rock in the middle of the river! Among those who braved the frigid waters were Joe & Carol Garvey, Becky & Kelly Blacka, Frank & Cheryl Jarvis, Kelly & Garrett Fuller, Johnny & Tammy Hayes, Valerie & John Duncan and Brad & Stasha Murray. The slightly less adventurous took a walking tour of Quebec City, among them were Jerome & Debra Scott, Bill & SunAe Simms, Janie & Michael Jones and Kathleen Strooband. Others

All in all, the 2007 Top Producer Trip was a spectacular award for our achievers. As one top producer put it,

“AmeriPlan® has outdone itself yet again. I never want to miss one of the company trips!”

August / September 2007

Around Christmas of 1996, John Hayes, then an Oklahoma City independent contractor, picked up an AmeriPlan® brochure while eating out. “I didn’t have a plan for my family,” he remembers. “My questions were, ‘How quickly can I use it,’ and ‘What’s the contract period.’ The answers were right away, and no contract period. I used the plan immediately, and in the first month I saved $200 on a trip to the dentist. The money my son saved off of one prescription drug paid for my membership.” Accordingly, John began spreading the word about AmeriPlan® even before he became an IBO. He contacted John Ray, who signed him up, and requested more brochures for his warm market. Then it hit him. “I asked him, ‘Are you making any money with that dental plan?’” So began John’s 10-year odyssey with AmeriPlan®. Early in 1997, he went to the regional office for training. “What stuck with me was a plaque on the wall that said ‘First National Sales Director in Oklahoma City.’ I said, ‘I want to save you some trouble. Go ahead and take that plaque off the wall and put my name on it.’ I was going to become the first Oklahoma City National Sales Director, no matter how hard I had to work. Only 11 months later, my name was on that plaque.” In 1999, John met and married Tammy, who rapidly caught the vision. When she was seeing the checks come in the mail, all the time, she really started to understand what residual income was. “What motivated me,” she explains, “I could see how it was not just changing our lives, but was a legacy to our entire family. My motivation is our family - what we’re going to be able to leave for our children and grandchildren for many, many years to come.” Naturally, it wasn’t always easy: “My biggest challenge was talking on the phone when people would call, especially when I first got started. I didn’t know if I could answer their questions. I just kept doing it until I didn’t feel uncomfortable anymore. The more I did it, the more I realized it wasn’t so bad.”

August / September 2007

Throughout this period, John was getting what he calls an “education on wheels,” remembering an early admonition to the effect that his check would only grow as his personal development library did. This helped him get over his own biggest hurdle – closing. “I didn’t want to come off as pushy,” John says. As he gradually learned, however, “there’s a difference between pushy and professional. Pushy people will go on and on and on. They don’t know the reasons why their prospect needs their product. A professional will listen, ask questions, and find needs and desires. Without those things you have no principle behind asking the prospect to join you.” This lesson served John and Tammy well when they confronted the challenge represented by the group market. “When we go into the groups,” Tammy says, “we’re looking at letting the employer know how this product will help them keep morale up, retain employees, and cut expenses. Sometimes they can no longer afford the high insurance premiums.” At the 2007 Convention, John and Tammy were announced as AmeriPlan’s twelfth National Vice Presidents. While honored and thrilled to reach this level, they feel it by no means represents the ultimate accomplishment available to an IBO. In addition to increasing their residual income, Tammy says their current goals are “working closely with a few key people who want to hit that $100,000. That’s what we want to see – them achieving their dreams.” John quickly adds “We believe in the concept of `pay it forward.’ In the movie of that name, a young boy was asked the question, ‘What would you do to change the world?’ His concept was to do something for three people that they couldn’t do for themselves, but also to ask each of them to pay it forward to three other people. If we make $100,000, we want to help other people to do that. That duplication will make it happen for a lot of other people.”

Senior Regional Sales Directors

INSIDE AmeriPlan ®

He has walked the walk and can talk the talk.

The winner will also be interviewed and will appear in a future issue of the newsletter bearing the winning name that they submitted.
