2014 SUSAN G. KOMEN BRAINERD LAKES RACE FOR THE CURE®

SPONSORSHIP OPPORTUNITIES SATURDAY, JUNE 28, 2014 HOST SITE: Forestview Middle School Baxter, Minnesota

WE LIVE HERE. WE RACE HERE. WE SAVE LIVES HERE!

in finding the cures, in your community Will you stand up and support a promise made between two sisters nearly 30 years ago and help find the cures for breast cancer? More than nine Minnesota women a day hear the words, “You have breast cancer” and nearly two Minnesota women die from breast cancer each day. When you invest in the Susan G. Komen Brainerd Lakes Race for the Cure® sponsorship, you invest in the lives of the people closest to you, the people of your community, your family, colleagues, neighbors and friends. This year, the Komen Brainerd Lakes Race for the Cure® celebrates its 15th annual Race! Thousands of participants, local and national corporations, and the support of the Brainerd Lakes community have established this event as the best of its kind, raising thousands of dollars in our quest to cure breast cancer by funding life saving research and local breast health programs and services. We invite you to join us on our mission to end breast cancer by becoming a 2014 Brainerd Lakes Race for the Cure® sponsor.

OUR PROMISE

To save lives and end breast cancer forever by empowering people, ensuring quality care for all, and energizing science to find the cures. BENEFITS OF INVOLVEMENT Based on your level of sponsorship, your company may: • Receive high visibility before the event and on Race Day • Reach an audience of more than 2,200 participants and spectators on one day • Test-market and showcase products • Build employee morale and company pride • Retain and increase customer loyalty • Align yourself with one of the top fundraising events in Minnesota

CAUSE MARKETING MATTERS A Cone/Duke University Behavioral Case Study revealed that American consumers continue to have high philanthropic expectations for companies even amidst the current economic situation. • 79% of respondents said they would likely switch from one brand to another, when price and quality are about equal, if that brand is associated with a good cause. • When replicating the study online, results revealed that participants spent nearly twice as long reviewing cause-related ads versus general corporate advertisements, resulting in a 19% sales lift. Consumers have an interest in corporate responsibility and they act on it.

ABOUT SUSAN G. KOMEN® Nancy G. Brinker promised her dying sister, Susan G. Komen, she would do everything in her power to end breast cancer forever. In 1982, that promise became Susan G. Komen®, now the world’s largest breast cancer organization and the largest source of nonprofit funds dedicated to the fight against breast cancer. To date, Komen has invested over $2.2 billion in breast cancer research and community programs and promises to invest another $1 billion by 2017. For more information about Susan G. Komen, breast health or breast cancer, visit komen.org or call 1-877 GO KOMEN .

SUPPORTING OUR PROMISE USE OF FUNDS

GRANTING FUNDS

Our objective is to provide maximum return to support our promise of saving lives and ending breast cancer forever.

The Komen Brainerd Lakes Race for the Cure®, along with other events and donations, supports our Grants Program. Komen Minnesota grants funds to Minnesota nonprofit organizations for innovative programs in the areas of breast health and breast cancer screening, treatment, support, survivorship and health care delivery/systems change, especially among those who are disproportionately affected by this disease in the state of Minnesota. In addition, 25% of our net funds are directed to Komen’s Grants Program for groundbreaking breast cancer research.

Up to 75% of the net funds raised through the Race and other Komen MN events stay right here in Minnesota. In 2013, we distributed more than $1.7 million to help fund national research and statewide breast cancer screening, education, breast cancer awareness, outreach, and treatment programs targeting medically underserved Minnesota women and men. Total administrative and fundraising expenses in 2013 were a low 14% of total revenue, which enables us to maximize your investment in the battle against breast cancer. A minimum of 25% of net funds support the national Susan G. Komen® Grants Program to fund research. 14% Expenses
