This guide will show you how to disassemble the Samsung Galaxy S II Epic 4G Touch mobile phone, assisting in making the repair of the device both simple and inexpensive. Epic 4G Touch–Disassemble Guide Step 1 – Battery •

Insert the plastic opening tool into the notch in the back case on the headphone jack side of the phone. Work your way around the entire phone to gently free the clips holding the back case to the phone’s unit.



Remove the back case from the Epic 4G Touch.



Use the plastic opening tool to pry the battery up and out of its secured location in the phone.



Now that both the SIM card and the microSD card are both easily accessible, remove them from the phone.



Next, locate and remove the six Phillips screws (#00) that secure the plastic frame to the front panel assembly.

Use the plastic opening tool to separate the rear portion of the plastic case from the front panel assembly. To separate these pieces, release the securing clips around the perimeter of the Samsung Galaxy S II with the spudger or plastic opening tool.



The speaker assembly is secured to the rear portion of the case with a small amount of adhesive. Use the spudger to pry up and remove the speaker from the Epic 4G Touch.



In the next few steps, you will be disconnecting the securing plugs attached to the motherboard. Pry up and remove these connections with the spudger.



The first connection to be removed is the frontfacing camera.

Next, remove the connection for the display assembly.



Now, remove the connection for the display button assembly.

The last connection to be removed is the headphone jack and vibrator assembly.

The headphone jack and vibrator assembly is held in place with a small amount of adhesive. Use the pointed end of the spudger to get under the assembly and pry it up and out of the Samsung Galaxy S II.



Locate and remove the one Phillips screw (#00) that secures the front-facing camera to the front panel assembly.



Next, locate and remove the two Phillips screws (#00) that secure the motherboard to the front panel assembly.

With all the connections and securing screws that hold the motherboard down removed, carefully detach the motherboard from the Epic 4G Touch.



With the motherboard removed from the phone, the securing clip for the front-facing camera should be released and will allow you to remove the camera from the Samsung Galaxy S II.



Still attached to the motherboard is the rear-facing camera. The camera’s ribbon wire is secured with a locking socket that needs to be released before you can remove the rear-facing camera. Release this socket and remove the rear-facing camera from the Galaxy S II.

The display assembly is secured to the phone’s frame with adhesive. Use the heat gun/blow drier to heat this adhesive. The heat will soften the adhesive in preparation for the separation of the display assembly and the frame.



To begin the separation of the display assembly and the frame, insert the screwdriver in the back of the display assembly through the hole for the front-facing camera. Push outward on the display assembly to make just enough room to fit the spudger in the gap.



Continue the separation with the spudger to peel the display assembly away from the frame. Use more heat on the adhesive around the frame if necessary.

At the bottom of the display assembly is the button assembly that is adhered in place. Be mindful of this as you separate the display assembly from the frame. You do not want to cause damage to the button assembly.



With the spudger, peel the ends of the button assembly up from the back of the frame. Push the assembly through the frame’s slots to remove it from the Samsung Galaxy S II.
