On Thanksgiving Day, November 24, 2016, men of Salem Moose Family Center 2573 and women of Salem Chapter 2232 served dinner to 90 veterans at the Salem Veterans Administration Medical Center. These veterans included patients who were wheelchair bound, or suffering from PTSD and other physciatric problems associated with their service to our country. There were many of our members who could not attend but helped by preparing or donating food. All of the food served was donated by the Salem members or Salem Lodge 2573. Those members who brought, cooked, or donated dishes were William and Cathy Bell, Louise and Harry Rhodes, Wendy and Jay Frye, Gunther and Lisa Gass, Bette Mullikin, Brandi Dooley, Christina Wilhelm, Susan Wilhelm, Daryl Thompson, Karen Keesee, Sherri Harlow, Braden and Brenda, and others.

District 11 Meeting Sunday January 29 Vinton 1121 1 PM

THE

A DMINISTRATOR

The current Moose year is half gone and we have accomplished a lot at Salem Moose Family Center but there are many things left to do. Thanks to the many volunteers from both the LOOM and WOTM the Lodge is constantly improving in both physical appearance and atmosphere. The Lodge Hall has been designated NON SMOKING at all times and we have installed a new air filtration system to improve the air quality for our members. A new set of exterior doors with glass panes has been installed in the Social Quarters to let in extra light and to improve the appearance of the Lodge. I would like to take this opportunity to welcome our new Territory Manager Neil Blankenship and extend an invitation to him to visit our Lodge. Also, thanks to our outgoing Territory Manager Rodger Huffman for a job well done. The Salem Moose Lodge recently provided a special Thanksgiving dinner to almost 100 Veterans at the Salem Veterans Hospital. Thanks to all the volunteers that made this happen, especially the ones that prepared the meal and the ones that went to the hospital and served it. The holidays are a special time of the year for Moose Members and their families. Come on out to the Lodge to enjoy the many Christmas parties that are planned. Just as a reminder the VMA Mid-Year Convention will be held in Norfolk the third weekend in January. See me to get a form to pre-register. The next District Meeting will be held at the Vinton Lodge on January 29. The Salem Moose Mini Bus will be departing the Salem Lodge around 11 AM. Reserve a seat early and enjoy the fun. Membership is still down for the year. We need to sign 20 new members to meet our quota. We closed out the previous year with 371 members on the rolls and as of my last transmit to Moose International we had 352 members. Visit the Moose International web site at www.mooseintl.org to see all the perks available to moose members. The Salem Moose Lodge has recently installed exciting new electronic pull tab machines in the Social Quarters for our member’s enjoyment. We also have a Fantasy Sports terminal with NFL Football and just recently added Golf fantasy sports. Give it a try and perhaps win BIG MONEY. Don’t forget that we have a Special Dinner every Friday night and breakfast is served every Sunday starting around 9 AM (except the 5th Sunday, if the month has one). The meals are delicious and the price is right. Thanks to all the volunteers who donate their time preparing and serving the meals. Without volunteers this would not happen. Harry Rhodes, Administrator/Social Quarters Manager
