Dear Yale Traveler The Baltic is known for its extraordinary architecture,

including St. Petersburg’s remarkable neoclassical buildings; Helsinki’s Art Nouveau and contemporary masterpieces; and Vilnius’ Renaissance, Baroque, and classical structures. Please join Alan Plattus, Professor of Architecture and Urbanism, in July aboard the three-masted sailing yacht, Sea Cloud II, to explore these diverse architectural gems during a voyage from St. Petersburg to Copenhagen.

Cruise past Gothic spires and gabled houses

illuminated by the summer sun, stepping ashore to explore historic buildings and museum treasures. From the splendid city of St. Petersburg, sail along the Neva River into the Gulf of Finland. Discover the landmarks of Helsinki and the superb collection of the Ateneum; and in Tallinn, Estonia, attend a private concert at St. Nicholas Church. During two days in Stockholm, enjoy a special after-hours visit to the Millesgården Sculpture Park and discover a 17th-century warship at the Vasa Museum. On the Swedish island of Gotland, explore Visby, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, before crossing the Baltic Sea to the fairytale city of Riga, Latvia, for a private organ performance at the Dome Cathedral. You may choose to join an optional overnight excursion to Vilnius, Lithuania, before disembarking in Copenhagen.

Nothing compares to Sea Cloud II, where gracious service, understated elegance, and gourmet cuisine reign supreme. Watch as the energetic crew scales the masts to set the sails, and relax in the congenial company of fellow Yale alumni and members of The Metropolitan Museum of Art, the National Trust for Historic Preservation, and the Harvard Alumni Association.
