The Chemical and Paint Resistant Faceshield is manufactured with the Oberon® Silicote™-6 coating, which acts as a barrier, protecting the outer surface from damage. Designer Eyewear

Safety Glasses prior to 1980 you had a minimum of styles in Safety Glasses in fact, through the 30’s, 40’s, 50’s, 60’s and most of the 70’s everyone wore an S-7 shape lens with either a smoke, black or flesh colored frame. A safety director could look across a shop floor and know that everyone was wearing their Safety Glasses. Nowadays with hundreds of styles NO ONE is really sure that everyone is wearing their safety glasses and that’s a problem. People pick up eyeglasses from drugstores, home improvement centers. Some do meet ANSI specifications eyewear for industrial use, some are FDA approved and many imports have had no testing done whatsoever! People want to be fashionable, they want to stand out from the crowd, that’s fine. However, a skilled employee is a valuable resource, one not to be squandered because of a cute pair of eyeglasses worn in the wrong place!

Be able to quickly recognize that everyone in your WORK AREA is wearing Industrial Eyewear that meets ANSI Z87.1-2010 specifications. That is one step toward a safe workplace!

EYE PROTECTION, Spectacles OSHA REGULATIONS says: 1910.133(a)(1) The employer shall ensure that each affected employee uses appropriate eye or face protection when exposed to eye or face hazards from flying particles, molten metal, liquid chemicals, acids or caustic liquids, chemical gases or vapors, or potentially injurious light radiation. 1910.133(a)(2) The employer shall ensure that each affected employee uses eye protection that provides side protection when there is a hazard from flying objects. Detachable side protectors (e.g. clip-on or slide-on side shields) meeting the pertinent requirements of this section are acceptable. 1910.133(a)(3) The employer shall ensure that each affected employee who wears prescription lenses while engaged in operations that involve eye hazards wears eye protection that incorporates the prescription in its design, or wears eye protection that can be worn over the prescription lenses without disturbing the proper position of the prescription lenses or the protective lenses. 1910.133(a)(4) Eye and face PPE shall be distinctly marked to facilitate identification of the manufacturer.

Fact:

Thousands of people are blinded each year from work-related eye injuries that could have been prevented with the proper selection and use of eye and face protection. Eye injuries alone cost more than $300 million per year in lost production time, medical expenses, and worker compensation. OSHA requires employers to ensure the safety of all employees in the work environment. Eye and face protection must be provided whenever necessary to protect against chemical, environmental, radiological or mechanical irritants and hazards. Employers are responsible for conducting a hazardous assessment, OBERON offers a series of hazard based specialty products to help you meet the hazards.

Manufacturing OBERON’s Didymium II Face Fit® Shield for glass manufacturing or glassblowing, especially when a gas (propane) powered furnace is used. Why purchasing Hard Caps with the suspension installed is important to you!

Having the suspensions installed when you receive them provide several benefits to you: 1. You know the suspensions are installed correctly. Your employees are protected. 2. You don’t have a highly compensated employee sitting around for 15 to 20 minutes installing the suspension on the safety cap. 3. Once your employees see how the suspension should be installed, they will have no problem when replacing them.

WARNING LABEL THAT IS AFFIXED INSIDE EVERY HARD CAP! WARNING STOP! READ WARNINGS BEFORE USE The shell of the cap should inspected prior to each use looking for surface damage like abrasion, scrapes, nicks or deterioration of the surface finish caused by UV degradation. The suspension should also be inspected to insure it is properly installed and free of damage. If the hard cap has been altered or damaged, it should be taken out of service and immediately replaced. To clean, use warm water and soap, rinse and dry with a soft cloth. To disinfect, use a 10% hypochlorite (bleach) solution for 10 minutes and air dry. Every year, approximately 30 million people in the United States are occupationally exposed to hazardous noise. Noise-related hearing loss has been listed as one of the most prevalent occupational health concerns in the United States for more than 25 years. Thousands of workers every year suffer from preventable hearing loss due to high workplace noise levels. Since 2004, the Bureau of Labor Statistics has reported that nearly 125,000 workers have suffered significant, permanent hearing loss. In 2009 alone, BLS reported more than 21,000 hearing loss cases. Exposure to high levels of noise can cause permanent hearing loss. Neither surgery nor a hearing aid can help correct this type of hearing loss. Short term exposure to loud noise can also cause a temporary change in hearing (your ears may feel stuffed up) or a ringing in your ears (nnitus). GAS EXTRACTION COVERALL Application: Gas Utility Linemen and Industrial Employees who are working on, repairing or maintaining gas transmission pipelines, especially underground pipelines exposed in a trench, where there is potential of Blowing Gas Ignition and explosion. Description: Natural gas is a gaseous fossil fuel consisting primarily of methane. When working on, repairing or maintaining transmission pipelines, especially underground pipelines exposed in a trench, there is potential of igniting leaking gas. This ignition, often the result of a spark created by work tools, can result in an explosive release of energy or fireball that will envelope all workers within the trench. The Gas Extraction coverall protects the user by insulating him or her against the heat. The time it will take for the worker to climb out of the trench is the time the worker will be exposed to the intense heat from the fire. Therefore, this expected exposure time indicates the level of protection the garment needs to provide. Typical flame resistant (FR) coveralls used for industrial flash fire protection meet the NFPA 2112 protection requirement that a user will sustain less than 50% body area burn injury in a 3 second simulated flash fire condition based on GES3™-Gas Extraction

The Gas Extraction Coverall is constructed entirely of FR materials, including the Fabric system, Velcro, Zipper and threads. Considering the very high level of protection, the Fabric system is a remarkably light weight (6.3 oz/yd2, 14 oz/yd2, 22 oz/yd2); lighter weight means less stress on the user. The coveralls are built with a Harness Port in the back, a pass through for the lanyard for the harness, necessary to extract the user in the event of a flash fire accident. Pant legs have ankle straps for sealing pant cuff against flammable gas entry; the sleeve openings at the wrist have straps for the same reason.

Body Cooling Vests Blue colored Body Cooling Vests constructed of Fire Retardant material comes in two sizes: Regular and Tall. Velcro size adjustment allows for a full range of sizing. Cold packs are non-toxic to the skin and non-flammable. Double layered quilted fabric to keep “COOL” in towards the body. The Vests are designed to be worn over clothes. Cool the cool packs in a cooler with refrigerator or ice water so they are chilled, not frozen. You just want to keep the wearer’s core temperature down not make the wearer uncomfortable by wearing frozen cold packs which would also inhibit one’s movement. How Long – Cooling time of 1 hour will vary depending upon the ambient temperatures and the exertion level of the worker wearing the vest. How to Wear—Wear the cooling vest snug to the body, (not tight), to the ribcage to provide cooling to your upper torso for maximum cooling effect. How to Recharge – For ideal comfort, cool rechargeable cooling packs in ice water before using. A spare set can be kept in a cooler and rotated with those in the vest for continuous use. Freezing the packs will extend the cooling time, but the temperature difference will be more noticeable to the body.
