VISION MXL WITH MUTING FUNCTION The Vision MXL type 2 family is the ideal solution for the protection of a vast number of high-risk industrial applications, in particular those requiring a high level of integration of the safety functions and the built-in Muting function. The features of the Vision MXL range include: -- Extremely easy connection and installation, thanks to the use of standard connectors and cables with length up to 100 m. -- Integration of the main safety functions including, external device monitoring (EDM) and the Start / Restart interlock function selectable. -- The built-in auto-test function of the solid state outputs, activated automatically and periodically, without interrupting of the operation of the machine being controlled. -- Integration of the muting function for the MXL models and of the muting sensors for the MXL L and MXL T models. -- Broad flexibility of configuration for muting logic and timeout (30 sec. - 90 min. - infinite selectable), two kinds of override, selectable. -- Muting enable input for signal coming from the machine, muting lamp output. -- Settings of each function integrally performed via the receiver main connector M16-2 poles ( M12-5 poles for the emitter connector). No need of software or dip-switches configurations. -- LEDs for light curtain’s status and diagnostic. -- The utmost reliability in the field, thanks to the rugged construction and to the high level of immunity to external interference (optical, EMC, etc.). -- The breadth of the range, with good features/cost ratio. Special models conforming to the “ATEX Directive” 94/9/EEC - Dust Zone 22 – Gas Zone 2 available on request., for application in explosive environment or with risk of fire. Special WT versions in watertight IP67 housing available. Dedicated accessories are available for the Vision MXL light curtains, such as pre-wired cables and MXJB connection boxes, complete with restart and override controls as well as the muting lamp and built-in relays that allow a simple, fast and reliable interface between the light curtains and the machine.

THE VISION MXL RANGE Vision MXL range includes: - the series MXL, with connectors for external muting sensors of any type. And, introduced in this edition: -- the MXL L and MXL T series , which feature an innovative system of horizontal arms with built-in photoelectric muting sensors, pre-wired and pre-aligned, adjustable in height in order to be able to calibrate the optical plane and the intensity of the signal of the sensors and thereby obtain a reliable and constant detection of the material in transit. VISION MXL

MXL SERIES The MXL series features dedicated inputs placed in the main M16 connector for connecting external muting sensors of any type such as photocells, proximity sensors, limit switches, etc.. It can manage the muting function in both two-way and one-way mode. A wide range of models with protected height from 310 mm to 1210 mm with resolution of 30, 40 mm and models with 2, 3, 4 beams provides the solution to any application problem.

MXL L SERIES The MXL L series, with 2 or 3 beams for access control, uses an original system of 2 horizontal arms (one for the emitter and one for the receiver) with built-in pre-wired and pre-aligned photoelectric muting sensors. The arms can be adjusted in height in order to create a detection plane that is more or less angled, with the purpose to achieve correct and constant detection of the material in transit and therefore reliable operation of the protection system. This ensures the maximum speed and simplicity of installation. The MXL L series manages the muting function in one-way mode and is particularly suitable for protecting the outfeed gates of palletising systems.

MXL T SERIES The MXL T series, with 2 or 3 beams for access control, features four horizontal arms (two for the emitter and two for the receiver) with built-in pre-wired and pre-aligned photoelectric muting sensors. The arms can be adjusted in height in order to create a detection plane that is more or less angled, with the purpose to achieve correct and constant detection of the material in transit and therefore reliable operation of the protection system. This ensures the maximum speed and simplicity of installation. The MXL T series manages the muting function in two-way mode for the protection of the infeed/outfeed gates in palletising systems.

With the MXL L and MXL T models, system installation is fast and simple; moreover, compliance with the standards requirements regarding the geometry of the muting sensors and all the other safety parameters is guaranteed (IEC/TS 62046). 3

One-way muting

• One-way muting for pallet outfeed only. • Max. time between the 2 muting activation signals: 4 sec. • Muting enable input available. It allows to start a muting sequence only when needed by the machine cycle. • Max. muting timeout time: 30 sec. 90 min or infinite selectable. • The muting function can only be activated from inside the protected zone. No possibility to activate a muting sequence from the outside. • Elimination of bulk outside the protected area, as the muting sensors are only present inside the area. • Correct muting sequence even in the presence of a pallet with reduced width and/or length or not centred with respect to the conveyor.

One-way muting with 2 external sensors

• Two sensor inputs. • Operating range 0 ÷ 8 metres. • Configuration possible with light curtains with resolution 30, 40 mm (protected height from 310 to 1210 mm) and with light grids with 2, 3, 4 beams. • Possibility to use with photocells, proximity sensors and limit switches.

• 2 photoelectric muting sensors with intersecting beams, built-in pre-wired and pre-aligned. • Operating range 1 ÷ 2.5 metres. • Versions with 2 or 3 beams. • Muting sensor elements adjustable in height and angle. • Reduced installation time and costs. • Sensors positioned in compliance with the regulations regarding the geometry of muting sensors and all the other safety parameters (IEC TS 62046); this makes it possible to avoid dangers arising from positioning errors and from possible tampering.

Two-way sequential muting with 4 sensors

with MXL T

• Possibility to use with photocells, proximity sensors and limit switches. • Configuration possible with light curtains with resolution 30, 40 mm, protected height from 310 to 1210 mm, and with light grids with 2, 3, 4 beams. • Correct muting sequence even in the presence of pallets with reduced width and/or length or not centred with respect to the conveyor. • It is possible to connect to each of the 2 sensor inputs 4 or even more signals in parallel. The suggested connection for a 4 sensors configuration in order to comply with the standards is S1//S4, S2//S3.

TYPE 4 SAFETY LIGHT CURTAIN

JANUS M TRX G WITH MUTING AND PASSIVE RETRO-REFLECTOR ELEMENTS RECOMMENDED FOR GLASS AND BOTTLING APPLICATION The Janus ML / MT TRX G (Glass) family was recently designed by our R&D to approach the most critical Muting applications in case of transit of transparent material. These models even improve the performance of the existing models with parallel beams or the versions with retro reflector element. They are available in L and T shape with 2-3 beams and include all the features of the Janus M TRX family, such as EDM, Automatic/Manual Restart, 3 Muting Timeout, 2 Override, Muting Enable Input, Muting Lamp and Status Output. The maximum range is limited to 2 meters.

MXJB and JANUS MJB 1 AS-i CONNECTION BOXES FOR VISION MXL AND JANUS SAFETY LIGHT CURTAINS The MXJB and the Janus MJB boxes are accessory devices designed to make the wiring of the Vision MXL and Janus light curtains fast and safe and to provide the main controls necessary for their operation close to the protected gate.

MXJB MAIN FEATURES • Lighted button for light curtain restart with green LED for indicating output status. • Key selector controlling the override function. • Indicator lamp for muting function active. • Connector for connection to the light curtain receiver and emitter. • Dip-switches for configuration of light curtain functions. • Built-in safety relay with guided contacts driven and controlled by the light curtain. • Internal terminal blocks for cable connections. • Selector for connection of external muting lamp. • Selector for internal or external relay control. • Cable gland for cable passage in output towards the machine. • Muting Status Output and Muting Enable Input are available. Special models in compliance with the “ATEX Directive” 94/9/CEE – Dust Zone 22 – Gas Zone 2 available on request.

JANUS MJB 1 AS-i Today a new AS-i version for the Janus MJB is available. In the MJB 1 AS-i the safety relay outputs are substituted with a single AS-i Safety Bus connection, by a M12-4 poles connector placed on the Right side of the box. The MJB 1 AS-i is available in the complete version with Restart Push Button and Override Key.

MAIN CHARACTERISTICS The WT watertight housing enables the use of light curtains in harsh working environments, characterised by the presence of water, steam, and low temperatures. Models available for light curtains with protected height from 160 to 1810 mm. The WT watertight housing is provided with an integrated anti-condensation system through the GORE™ vent to avoid the presence of humidity on the transparent surface. The special WTH heated version is provided with thermostatic heating control and can be installed in a cold environment down to -20°. Ideal for applications in refrigerated warehouse or in outdoor plants. Both WT and WTH watertight housing are available for the light curtains families Admiral AX, Janus LR, Vision VX and now also for Vision MXL and METRON.
