2015 – The Bay St. Louis site’s Energy Management Program was honored with two awards. They won an energy efficiency award for reaching their 2010 to 2025 goals ten years early. They achieved this through a broad energy improvement program that included improvement objectives, goal setting, communication, a management policy, and recognition, as well as over 15 individual energy efficiency projects. The site also won a waste minimization award for improving process controls to reduce the amount of undesirable byproduct.
2014 – The Bay St. Louis site was chosen for two awards: The first for reducing greenhouse gas emissions from and the energy needed to operate the compressed air systems; and the second for installing an advanced combustion control system on a furnace, which reduced energy use and greenhouse gas emissions. 2013 – The Bay St. Louis site was honored for a group of small energy savings projects that together made a significant impact on energy consumption. 2011-The Bay St. Louis site was recognized for electrical energy reductions.

The Association of the Dutch Chemical Industry (VNCI) Responsible Care® Award

2015 - SABIC was nominated for the HR Project ‘Self scheduling (zelfroosteren)’. SABIC in Bergen op Zoom is the first employer in the chemical industry offering their employees the possibility to plan their own schedule. The amount of overtime hours has dropped by almost 50% and sick leave has decreased by 20%. The jury concluded that the Bergen op Zoom initiative shows that new ways of working are replacing the traditional way of working in shifts, and that this project is an answer to the changes in society. 2010- SABIC was chosen for this award because of our efforts to render the transportation of hazardous substances as safe as possible. SABIC implemented a number of safety policies which go above and beyond statutory and regulatory provisions. In addition, SABIC also actively involves its suppliers in safety improvements throughout the logistics chain and SABIC was the first company in the chemical industry to call for its haulers to commit to Responsible Care®.

2014 – The Burkville site was chosen for two awards: One for reducing water consumption which also reduced energy usage and greenhouse gas emissions; and one for installing energy efficient lighting and a lighting management system, which improved energy efficiency and reduced greenhouse gas emissions. 2012 – The Burkville site was recognized with an Energy Efficiency Award for environmental improvement by decreasing water intensity 7% and decreasing the need to consume energy to pump that water. 2011- The Burkville site was recognized with an Energy Efficiency Award for installing an environmentally friendly and energy efficient replacement chiller.

2011 - The site won for an innovative process that converts bulk Ultem* resin waste into commercial sodium nitrite, which can be sold for use as pigments and dyes SABIC received the 2013 Sustainable Evansville Award for the development of a new process to recover and purify Sodium Nitrite. 2013 – The site won two Responsible Care Awards in 2013. One was for advanced process controls on a dryer and a second was for pre-heating process improvements. 2012 - The site won two Responsible Care® Awards, one Energy Efficiency Award and one Waste Minimization Award. The Energy Efficiency Award was for their phenol unit heat recovery system, and the Waste Minimization Award was for beneficial reuse. 2011 - The site won three Responsible Care® Energy Efficiency Awards for three separate projects. The conversion of a sodium nitrite waste stream to a product won with distinction. A dryer unit upgrade, and a flash tank installation also won. 2010 - The Responsible Care® Energy Efficiency award was given for design improvements to resin purification which reduced electrical and steam usage, and reduced carbon dioxide levels.

The purpose of this award is to emphasize the relationship between adequate wastewater treatment and clean receiving waters and give public recognition and encouragement to the industries and their operating personnel. 2014 – The Huntersville, North Carolina Supply Chain team received an energy efficiency award for reducing the greenhouse gas intensity of SABIC’s transportation activities. 2013 – The Pittsfield, Massachusetts site was honored for a new IT data center energy efficiency. 2011- The Pittsfield, Massachusetts site was recognized for energy efficiency improvements and carbon footprint reductions.

2010 - The Responsible Care® Awards Energy Efficiency Award with Exceptional Merit was for the installation of a steam turbine generator that captured energy previously lost during pressure reduction. This Certification is the highest standard currently awarded by the Mexican Government. It is a voluntary certification program managed by the National Environmental Audit Program (PNAA) of Mexico. PNAA follows a formula created by PROFEPA, which is responsible for approving all audits and certifying full compliance. Less than 20 percent of all facilities in Mexico have earned the Industria Limpia certification.
