HISTORY Gota, Lda started in 2010 in response to growing demand for Portuguese wines. Portugal is writing a new chapter in its wine history, marrying rich tradition with modern thinking to produce fresh, flavoursome wines from its vast array of distinctive, characterful grape varieties. Two associates, both with a professional background in the wine trade, one as a winemaker and the other as a supermarket wine buyer, combined their passion and knowledge to bring to the consumer the best that Portugal has to offer. Our goal was to create and promote wines from the top winemaking regions in Portugal and make them available across the globe. We are collectors, we search the country looking for treasures - the vineyards, the wines and the people and choose the ones that we believe express the unique personality of each region: the pure soul of the place. Now, we are proud to present a range of wines that shows the best of Portugal, at the best price. Gota means “drop”. We are a small drop of wine…for now.

MISSION To deliver the best of Portugal inside of the bottle for customers across the world.

WHAT WE DO We have created a range of signature wines from different wine regions. Each wine displays the character of the regional climate, soils and most important, the indigenous Portuguese varieties.   We maintain close relationships with local growers, with whom we share a common aim to preserve local traditions in the vineyard and in the winery, while embracing modern viticultural and winemaking standards.

Our portfolio is divided into four different groups: - DOC, the top tier in Portuguese wine classification (based on that special blend of place, grape, soil and climate) where each label is designed to transmit the essence of the wine, its aroma and flavour - or, at least, our vision of them. - Regional Wines, more affordable, while still maintaining all the sense of the area. With more playful labels, Circus Number and Ludo, they not only show how much fun we had in creating them, but we hope they also “catch” the eye, and the palate, of the consumer. - Table Wines, Lepus the running hare, is our range in good quality Portuguese table wines. - Port, the famous fortifieds, both white and red. Quality at an affordable price.
