COMMON PROBLEMS

MASTER BEDROOM RECOMMENDATIONS

Noise from sources such as TV room, kitchen laundry, rumpus room, road traffic and neighbouring homes.

To ensure adequate privacy, peace and quiet install a GIB Noise Control® system in the master bedroom, including solid core door with sound seals and windows.

COMMON PROBLEMS

LOUNGE/DINING RECOMMENDATIONS

The major issues are appearance and finish quality.

RECOMMENDATIONS: GIB ULTRALINE® FINISH AND FEATURE OPTIONS To ensure wall and ceiling linings appear smooth and blemish free, avoid harsh lighting conditions and choose lighter colours. Incorporate GIB Ultraline® for walls and ceilings with GIB-Cove® and GIB® Goldline™ trims and other design features. For areas subject to critical lighting a level 5 finish is required.

FAMILY/RUMPUS ROOM/HOME CINEMA COMMON PROBLEMS

FAMILY/RUMPUS ROOM/HOME MEDIA RECOMMENDATIONS

As these rooms are high use areas, special attention should be given to the toughness and durability of linings, trims and surface finishes to provide extra protection from marks, scratches, dents or holes. These rooms can also be noise generating rooms, potentially disturbing people in other rooms nearby.

RECOMMENDATIONS: GIB NOISELINE® AND GIB TOUGHLINE® To reduce noise generated in these rooms disturbing those in other rooms, a GIB Noise Control® System should be installed. This should be combined with GIB Tough® plasterboard for walls.

1

Two layers of GIB Noiseline® for walls (or One layer GIB Noiseline® overlaid with one layer GIB Toughline® on walls) plus one layer GIB Noiseline® on the other side of the wall

2

STUDY/HOME OFFICE

New Home

COMMON PROBLEMS

STUDY/HOME OFFICE RECOMMENDATIONS

The major issue is noise. Giving valuables, important documents, computer files and personal items, such as photos, that can’t be replaced, the best chance of survival in the event of a fire should also be considered.

RECOMMENDATIONS: GIB® FIRE RATED SYSTEM & GIB NOISE CONTROL® SYSTEM The study / home office should be located away from external noise sources such as road noise and internal noise sources e.g. laundry, kitchen, TV room, rumpus etc. For noise reduction and added protection in a fire combine a GIB® Fire Rated System and GIB Noise Control® System.

HALLWAY/STAIRWAY

New Home

COMMON PROBLEMS

HALLWAY/STAIRWAY RECOMMENDATIONS

High traffic areas are subject to a lot of wear and tear, so the major considerations are toughness and durability. As feature areas of your home, a quality finish and more space is also important. You should also consider noise control.

RECOMMENDATIONS: A GIB® Tough System for walls to keep them looking good and GIB Ultraline® on ceilings for a quality finish.

GARAGE

New Home

COMMON PROBLEMS

GARAGE RECOMMENDATIONS

Major considerations are toughness and durability. As most garages are multi-purpose areas, sometimes used as workshops, hobby rooms and for storage of equipment, they are usually subject to wear and tear. Making allowance for any fire originating from the garage is also a consideration.

RECOMMENDATIONS:

1

GIB Toughline® on walls

2

GIB Toughline® on ceilings

3

Scratch resistant paint/wallpaper or textured solid vinyl wallpaper

4

Solid timber skirting boards

5

Solid core door with door stops

6

Wall Corners – GIB® Goldline™ trims

A GIB® Tough System for walls and ceilings. Also recommended are solid core doors, solid timber trims and specific paint systems to provide added protection from marks, scratches and dents. In the event of fire, having a GIB® Fire-rated System installed can isolate the garage from the rest of your house and give more time to get the fire under control.
