ROGUE RIVER FIRE DISTRICT EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITY FIREFIGHTER The Rogue River Fire District is currently accepting applications for the position of Firefighter/EMT to establish a hiring list as per the Civil Service Commission Rules of the Rogue River Fire District. EXAM PURPOSE: To fill one current opening and to establish an eligibility roster for future openings; See attached job description for details. SELECTION PROCESS: An application must be submitted on a RRFD application form. A resume and $20.00 application fee is required. Selection process will consist of a written exam (25%), oral exam (50%), assessment center evaluation (25%) and physical abilities exam (P/F). General Position Summary Under general supervision, the Firefighter assists in the suppression of fires; performs fire prevention and fire/arson investigations; drives, operates and maintains fire and/or rescue apparatus, operates fire pumps and other fire equipment and specialized tools; performs life support duties to his level of certification as an Emergency Medical Technician, performs public relations and education assignments; performs station and apparatus maintenance and repairs; participates in department related training programs, upgrades and maintains skill levels through continuing education and certification as required. Other duties and activities will be assigned as necessary. Essential Functions A firefighter shall:
Respond to emergency medical scenes, fire incidents, and other related emergency and non-emergency requests: perform firefighting, rescue and/or EMS related activities necessary for the protection of lives and property within the scope of his/her training and the districts rules/regulations.
Operate pump and other apparatus equipment; make necessary hose connections, compute and regulate proper water pressure for fire ground operations; assist in laying hose lines, fire attack, ladders, vents and enter burning buildings, operate specialized pneumatic and portable hydraulic tools, rescue endangered persons, and perform other regular fire ground or emergency duties as directed by the Incident Commander.
Maintain a high level of safety in the performance of said duties; demonstrate a continuous effort to improve operations, work cooperatively and jointly with other district members to provide quality seamless customer service, all in a fiscally prudent manner.
