SYLLABUS AP 563 Preparing Students for the AP Exam: Spanish Literature and Culture Monday, June 18 – Friday, June 22, 2012 and Monday, June 25 – Friday, June 29, 2012 8:30 AM – 4:30 PM (Mon. – Thurs.) 8:30 AM – 1:00 PM (Friday) Course Description: In this College Board workshop, participants will engage in a professional exchange of ideas surrounding the revised AP Spanish Literature and Culture course. Participants will examine components of the AP Curriculum Framework including learning objectives, descriptions of expected student performance, the reading list, literary terms, and themes and essential questions. Participants should be familiar with all of these texts before coming to the workshop. For an accurate list refer to the College Board at www.collegeboard.com. Participants will discuss models of instructional design for the course that use the themes and essential questions to make comparisons across literary periods and genres. Participants will review various authentic audio texts and artistic representations related to course content. They will examine sample questions for multiple choice and free response sections of the exam. Participants are encouraged to bring their own texts or anthologies containing the majority of these works. This workshop will be conducted in Spanish. REQUIREMENTS FOR GRADUATE CREDIT AP 563 Preparing Students for the AP Exam: Spanish Literature and Culture Monday, June 18 - Friday June 22, 2012 Requirements for Graduate Credit Include:  Daily class attendance.  Enthusiastic participation in all class activities.  Answer one AP Free Response Question for a Mock-grading exercise.  Complete one AP Practice Exam (multiple choice section).  Share one “Sample Lesson” (Best Practice) with the class. (5 Minute Presentation).  Be prepared for all homework presentations.  Develop a Curriculum Outline for a specific topic from the AP Spanish Literature Course Outline (This assignment will be explained on the first day of class).  If you are taking the course for credit, no absences are permitted. You must attend all five days and every session to receive graduate credit. Curriculum Outlines are to be emailed to the instructor, Rafael Moyano, at [email protected] within two weeks of the end of the course.

Goucher College does not issue grade reports. You can obtain your grade approximately 3 weeks after concluding the course by going to the GoucherLearn website (http://learn.goucher.edu) and follow the prompts to receive your grade. If you have misplaced your password, please contact the help desk and they will walk you through this procedure (410-337-6322). If you need a paper copy of grades for tuition reimbursement, you will need to request a transcript in writing.
