Richard Brown, MD Medical School: State University of New York Upstate Medical University Academic interests: Ultrasound, Sports Medicine What brought you to Orlando Health? After my interview I felt like I really fit in here. We have an awesome group of attendings who are eager to teach. The residents are all active and enjoy doing activities outside of medicine so it’s easy to find fun things to do on days off. Being from New York, the weather down here didn’t hurt either. Hometown: Vestal, NY Hobbies and interests: Golf, basketball, football, lifting, running, fishing.

Kenneth Chang, MD Medical School: University of Texas Medical School at Houston Academic interests: As of right now, I am uncertain. However, ultrasound and critical care are intriguing… What brought you to Orlando Health? The biggest factor was the genuine camaraderie the faculty and residents have for each other. It would be hard to find a place that cared for their residents more. I felt it was a place that would provide excellent training in a supportive environment, and I have not been disappointed! Hometown: Port Lavaca, TX Hobbies and interests: I enjoy playing basketball, tennis, and lifting weights.

Kevin Chin, MD Medical School: University of Miami School of Medicine Academic interests: Ophthalmic Emergencies and Ultrasound. What brought you to Orlando Health? Friendly, laid back faculty and a strong pediatric experience. Hometown: Bethesda, MD Hobbies and interests: Basketball, soccer, and backpacking.

Mikaela Devaux, MD Academic interests: Ultrasound What brought you to Orlando Health? The people, location, and warm weather. Hometown: St. Lucia/Melbourne Hobbies and interests: Snowboarding, sports, traveling, food, and anything at the beach.

Justin Mauldin, MD Medical School: Florida State University College of Medicine Academic interests: Critical Care What brought you to Orlando Health? Three things; first, the people including attendings, residents and staff; second the training, through acuity and volume; and lastly, living in amazing Orlando. Hometown: Rockledge, FL Hobbies and interests: Most of my hobbies involve being outdoors, and consist of fishing, surfing, wakeboarding, hiking and snowboarding. I also enjoy spending time with my family and friends, listening to music, traveling, reading news articles, watching movies, and experiencing new cuisines.

Susan “Stacie” Miller, MD Medical School: University of Central Florida College of Medicine Academic interests: EMS, Critical Care What brought you to Orlando Health? Excellent training mixed with a family environment. Hometown: Since I’m a military brat, I call the southeast my home! However, if I had to choose, I would say Nashville, Tennessee and St. Augustine, Florida are my two hometowns. Hobbies and interests: Offshore fishing, college football, yoga and cooking.

The best EM program in Florida, Level 1 Trauma Center, good community and academic background, big Hispanic population. Hometown: Arecibo, Puerto Rico Hobbies and interests: Going to the beach, salsa dancing, spending time with my family and friends, traveling to explore new cultures.

Family atmosphere, strong academics with a community feel, great opportunity for any of the fellowship opportunities. Sagar Patel, MD Medical School: University of Buffalo State University of New York School of Medicine & Biomedical Sciences Academic interests: EMS, Sports Medicine What brought you to Orlando Health? The nurturing environment combined with some of the best clinical emergency medicine opportunities and an amazing city! Hometown: San Francisco, CA Hobbies and interests: I enjoy eating at new restaurants, traveling to exotic places, watching sports especially NFL football, and boating/water sports.

Although I am from the Midwest originally, I have heard countless great things about Orlando Health and the strength of the residency program and fantastic teaching and support of the faculty. When I interviewed here I was blown away by the faculty, the support staff, and what the program has to offer us as residents. Orlando Health also has the best ultrasound training for residents over any other program I interviewed at. Orlando is also a really fun city. There is always something going on. There are so many lakes and the ocean here to support my fishing addiction and love for watersports when I am not working! The amazing faculty, staff, and residents as well as the diverse patient population. Hometown: Tampa, FL Hobbies and interests: Playing sports (basketball and flag football); working out (fitness boxing and kickboxing); spending time outdoors (especially on the beach or by a lake); watching movies/documentaries; spending time with pets, family, and friends.

There is a strong team dynamic between the residents, and the faculty are very supportive. Also, with Orlando being a huge tourist destination there is lots of pathology and trauma cases to see. The people, the environment, and the opportunity to receive excellent emergency medicine training at a busy Level 1 Trauma Center known to produce great physicians. Hometown: Bitola, Macedonia Hobbies and interests: I enjoy spending time with friends and family, playing any sport but mostly basketball, and all outdoor activities including basking in the sun at the beautiful Florida beaches.
