Revision doesn t have to be boring. There are many interesting, fun and memorable ways you can revise.

Reflect on what type of learner you are – find out about the different learning styles and choose a suitable activity for the subject that you are studying!

Create a timetable to help you manage your evening and weekend time. Our days are organised at school because of our timetable. Revision should be completed in blocks of 45 minutes. Create your own timetable and stick up in your area of study so that you can tick off all of the revision that you complete.

Mind maps help you to generate ideas and make associations & links. They can also act as a powerful memory aid because they are visual.





Colour, symbols and pictures can be included to make it more memorable. Make a poster of your words, with illustrations and put in up in your bedroom, your bathroom, the kitchen, somewhere you will see it every day.







What your teacher says in lessons is extremely useful. Take notes during class so you can revise over them whenever you want. Highlight key words with highlighters to make sure you don t forget the important information.







A good way of remembering important vocabulary, quotes and terminology is through cue cards. It s a fun way of revising as anyone can help you test yourself. Be creative. Draw colourful images that help you remember what is on the card!



Singing Rhymes. One of the best ways to learn something is to make a song about it with a catchy tune, so you can remember all the information more easily.

e.g. 30 days have September, April, June and November. All the rest have 31, except for February alone.



Wordle is a toy for generating word clouds from text that you provide. The clouds give greater prominence to words that appear more frequently in the source text. You can tweak your clouds with different fonts, layouts, and colour schemes. The images you create with Wordle are yours to use however you like. You can print them out, or save them to the Wordle gallery to share with your friends.

You can use Audacity to: • Record live audio. • Convert tapes and records into digital recordings or CDs. • Edit Ogg Vorbis, MP3, WAV or AIFF sound files. • Cut, copy, splice or mix sounds together. • Change the speed or pitch of a recording.



You all learnt how to use Toondoo in ICT. Now put that learning in to practice! Here is some French revision!





Decorate your room with Posters!! Make your room a revision centre! Use a bright array of coloured paper, post it notes and images all over your wall. This way, whatever you're doing you are constantly looking at your revision notes!





Acronyms are words which are often created by the first letters of a series of words. They enable you to remember key words and phrases from revision notes



E.g. The order we carry out calculations in Maths is extremely important, you could lose marks in the exam if you don t carry them out in the correct way. BIDMAS will make sure you don t trip up! Brackets Indices (powers and roots) Division or Multiplication Addition or Subtraction

E.g. In English we use AFOREST to help in our Argue, Persuade and Advise exams A – Anecdote F – Facts O – Opinions R – Rhetorical E – examples and experts S – Statistics T – Triplets (rule of three) 





Assessing yourself helps develop skills needed in the world of work. It promote independent working. You can use the traffic light system so you know what topics you need to work on.

  



GREEN PENS are a tool most of you use to peer assess. It helps in a number of ways: It helps you to become more involved in lessons. It encourages you to critically analyse work done by others. You may even pick up some good phrases you could use in your own writing. Overall, It s a two way system. The assessor gains as well as the assessed.

        

Cue cards A4, A3 paper Revision text books Revision exercise/note books Highlighter pens PLUS you must have the correct equipment for each subject e.g. a calculator for maths.

You can look at the topics you will/ have studied in Course content

You can download past papers in Resources





Downloading past papers helps with revision as you can see what topics you need to go over. Looking at the course content helps as there are various documents available to help you.





Using revision websites is another interesting interactive way of revising. The main revision website I use is BBC Bitesize as it covers a vast amount of subjects.

You can study 3 important subjects:

There are fun games you can play to aid your revision

There are informative yet humorous interactive videos for every subject. E.g. This video for English:
