Dear Alumni and Guests, Welcome back to Darden! In my first Reunion as dean, I look forward to a wonderful weekend of events with you and your families. There are many great opportunities to reconnect with friends, classmates and your favorite professors. We have a dynamic global network of 15,000 alumni in more than 90 countries, and “coming home” to Darden for Reunion is one of the most effective ways to stay connected to our incredible community. I hope you enjoy your time on Grounds and feel a renewed bond to your classmates and this amazing school. The success of Darden depends heavily on the active involvement of alumni — who give generously of their time and energy by volunteering, attending admissions and alumni receptions around the globe, and returning to Grounds for Reunion and other events. Alumni also demonstrate their loyalty by investing in the School. For five consecutive years, Darden alumni have given to the Darden Annual Fund at record-breaking levels, which signals to the world the commitment of our network. This year, a group of generous supporters have agreed to donate $825,000 if their fellow alumni can reach 50 percent participation in the Annual Fund. Darden is recognized for having the top business education experience in the world (The Economist, 2011–15), the most satisfied B-school graduates (Forbes, 2015) and the No. 1 general management education (Financial Times, 2013–16). This Reunion weekend will demonstrate once again how much the Darden community can accomplish together. I invite you to join me for my first State of the School presentation on Saturday morning in Abbott Auditorium. I will reflect on the year and introduce an expanded strategy for Darden as we move into an exciting new era for the School. Scott C. Beardsley Dean and Charles C. Abbott Professor of Business Administration
