Retro DAB+ Operation Guide Where to put your radio It is important that you consider carefully in advance where your radio will be situated and make sure that it is: * On a flat and stable surface with sufficient ventilation * Within 1.4metres of a power socket (if using mains power) * Where you can fully extend the telescopic aerial * Away from bright sunlight or heat sources, such as a radiator or naked flame and lighted candles must not be placed on the radio * Not in a humid or very damp place such as a bathroom

Important safety instructions

This is a domestic electrical product that must only be used for its intended purpose in accordance with these instructions Please read this instruction manual carefully before attempting to use the radio and retain the manual for future reference The radio is for indoor use only Do not move the radio while it is connected to the mains supply via the adapter Clean the radio with a slightly damp cloth and do not use abrasive cleaners Children should be supervised to ensure that they do not play with the radio WARNING: If the flexible cable of the adapter is damaged, it must be replaced by the manufacturer or his service agent or a similar qualified person in order to avoid a hazard Setting up Connect the mains power lead into the socket on the back of the radio (DC IN) and plug the power adaptor into the mains power wall socket and switch on. Fully extend the radio aerial in a vertical position to obtain the maximum signal strength. When switching on for the first time, slide the power switch on the back of the radio to “ON”, “Welcome to Digital Radio” will be displayed. Then it will show the clock. If don’t do further operation, the backlight will turn off and it enters into Standby Mode. Press

1. Connect the mains power lead into the socket on the back of the radio (DC in 5V) and plug the power adaptor into the mains power wall socket and switch on. Switch to DAB+ mode, press “MODE” button repeatedly until the display shows “Switch to DAB+”. Your radio will automatically begin to Quick SCAN DAB+ stations. A progressive bar will show the progress of the scan and the number of stations found during the scan will also be displayed. The stations scanned will be stored automatically when the scan is complete. The number of stations scanned will also be displayed at the upper right corner of the screen. If there’s no signal, “NO Signal” will be shown. 2. The first station available will be played automatically. 3. You can press “ ” or “ ” button to switch among stations stored. 4. DAB+ scan modes,press ” ” shortly, it will Quick SCAN. Press it longer, it will FULL SCAN. 5. Press “PREV” and “NEXT” to scroll up or down to seek for your favorite stations. 6. Pess “VOL+” or “VOL-“ to adjust the volume. 7. To store the present station, press “PRE” button to activate store function. “Preset Empty 1” will be displayed on lower line of the screen, and the number 1 will flash. Press “ ” and “ ” to scroll through the numbered preset locations (1-10), press “ ” button to store the station. Frequency will be displayed on the upper line. “Preset x Stored” will be shown on the lower line of the screen to indicate if you store the station successfully. 10 stations can be stored in total. To tune to a preset DAB + station, press “PRE” button, then use “ ” and “ ” to scroll through the preset stations. Press “ENTER” button to confirm when you see the station you would like to listen. The radio will tune to that station and begin to play. 8. In DAB+ mode,the radio will synchronize with the time and date of the station. 9. In DAB+ mode,press “INFO” button, the information such as DLS, station name, time and date, frequency, bit rate, signal quality will be displayed. 10. In DAB+ mode,press “ ” button longer and enter into scan by manual. Press “ ” and “ ” button to scroll through channel 5A-13F and select the stations you would like to listen. Press “ ” button to confirm the channel, then press “ ” and “ ” to scroll through stations in this channel, press “ ” button enter into the station you selected. FM MODE operation 1. Press “MODE” button and switch into FM mode. At the first time FM frequency “87.5MHz.” will be displayed on the screen. 2. Scan stations by manual, press “ ” or “ ” button shortly to adjust stations by 0.05MHZ until you get your favorite stations. 3. To autoscan stations, press “ ” button to search stations upward. If station signal is available, scan will stop automatically and play this station. Make press “ ” button longer, it will search stations downward. If station signal is available, scan will stop automatically and play this station. 4. If you know which frequency you going to listen to, you can press “ ” button to search stations upward quickly to get targeted frequency. It will stop scanning if you stop pressing and play the stations selected. 5. Press “ ” button to search stations downward quickly to get targeted frequency. It will stop scanning if you stop pressing and play the station selected. 6. To store the currently played station, make a long press of “PRE” button to activate store function. “Preset Empty 1” will be shown on the lower line of the screen, and number “1” will flash. Press “ ” or “ ” to select numbered location to store, then press “ ” to store the station. Frequency will be displayed on the upper line of the screen, and “Preset x Stored” will be displayed on the lower line. 10 stations can be stored in total. Press “PRE” to activate the function of listening stations stored. Then press “ ” or “ ” to select numbered locations. After pressing “ ” button to confirm, the station selected will be played. 7. In FM mode, press “INFO” button to display the information such as RDS, audio type, station frequency, time and date, signal quality, program text, program type. 8. In FM mode, press “ ” button to switch among audio types, you can select between Stereo and Mono. 2

9. In FM mode, when received RDS information, the radio will synchronize with the time and date of the station automatically. 10. Press “VOL+” or “VOL-“ to adjust volume. IPOD MODE OPERATION 1. Press “MODE” to switch into IPOD mode. If there’s no iPod or iPhone connected, “iPod Disconnected” will be displayed on the screen. Insert iPod or iPhone into the 30 Pin connector, the screen will show “iPod Connected” and begin to display music in your iPod or iPhone. 1. Press “ ” or “ ” to play previous or next track. 2. Press “ ” button to pause or play the track. 3. Press and hold “ ” button to search the current track using high speed rewind. It will stop and play again when you release the button. 4. Press and hold “ ” button to search the current track using high speed forward. It will stop and play again after you release the button. 5. Press “VOL+” or “VOL-“ to adjust volume. AUX-IN MODE OPERATION 1.Press “MODE” button to switch into AUX-IN mode, plug the aux-in cable into the 3.5mm AUX-IN jack at the back of the radio. It will play the music from external audio devices. 2.Press “VOL+” or “VOL-“ to adjust volume SYSTEM OPERATION 1.Factory reset. In working mode, make a long press of “MODE” button, “Press Enter Key to Reset” will be displayed on the screen. Then press “ ” to confirm the factory reset until “System Reset OK” shows up. 2. In working mode, make a long press of “INFO” button to check the software version. Alarm clock function This unit can set two alarms. In working or standby mode, make a short press of “SNOOZE” button. Press once shows ALARM1. Press twice shows ALARM2, alarm will ring 1 hour. It can wake up to DAB +,FM,IPOD,BEEP Tone1, BEEP Tone2. SNOOZE lasts 5 minutes. 1. Setting the alarm in standby mode a. Make a short press of “SNOOZE” button to activate ALARM 1. After activated ALARM1, ”ALARM 1: BEEPER1” (the alarm type) is displayed on the upper line of the screen. “OFF” will be shown and flashes on the lower line. Press “ ” or “ ” and choose “ON”. Then press “ ” to confirm your selection and enter into time setting, current time will be displayed on the left side of the screen. Alarm time “00:00” shows on the right side. Time setting is divided into hour setting and minute setting. It’s 24 hour time system. Set the hour firstly, the “00” will keep flashing, then pess “ ” or “ ” and set hour quickly. Press “ ” to confirm and enter into minute setting. When “00” keeps flashing, then pess “ ” or “ ” and set minute quickly. Press “ ” to confirm and enter into alarm type selection by pressing “ ” or “ ”. You can choose from “DAB+,FM,IPOD,BEEP Tone1, BEEP Tone2” five modes. After your selection, press “ ” to confirm. Alarm setting is complete, the mark will show on the screen. When alarm rings, you can press “ ” button to close the alarm. The unit will enter into Standby mode and show clock. b. The alarm 2 setting is the same operation as the alarm 1. 2. Setting alarm in working mode a. You can set alarm in DAB+,FM, IPOD,AUX four modes. Make a short press of “SNOOZE” button to activate alarm function. After activation, “ALARM 1: BEEPER1” (alarm type) will be shown on the upper line of the screen. “OFF” will be displayed and flashes on the lower line. Press “ ” or “ ” button and choose “ON”. Press “ ” button to confirm the alarm function and enter into time setting. Current time shows at the left of the screen. Alarm time “00:00” shows at the right. Time setting is divided into hour and minute. It’s 24 hour time system. Set the hour firstly, the left “00” will keep flashing, then pess “ ” or “ ” and set hour quickly. Make long press of those two buttons can set the time more quickly. Then press “ ” to confirm and enter into minute setting. When right “00” keeps flashing, 3

then pess “ ” or “ ” and set minute quickly. Press “ ” to confirm and enter into alarm type selection by pressing “ ” or “ ”. You can choose from “DAB+, FM, IPOD, BEEP Tone1, BEEP Tone2” five modes. After your selection, press “ ” to confirm. alarm setting is complete. The mark will show on the screen. When alarm rings, you can press “ ” button to close the alarm. The unit will enter into the previous mode before you perform alarm setting. b. The alarm 2 setting is the same operation as the alarm 1. 3. Alarm wake up: a. when it wakes to DAB+,after that it will play DAB+ program. If there’s no DAB+ stations received, BEEP Tone1 will ring. b. when it wakes to FM,after that it will play FM program. c. when it wakes to IPOD, after that it will play iPod music directly. If no iPod is connected, BEEP Tone1 will replace it to ring automatically. At the time of alarm ring, whatever iPod music or BEEP sounds, take iPod away or insert iPod can close the alarm automatically. d. when it wakes to BEEP(BEEP Tone1, BEEP Tone2), the backlight will flash too. e. If two alarms are all set. When alarm 1 is ringing, alarm 2 is also waken, the alarm1 will turn off automatically. Only after the Alarm 1 is closed, can the Alarm 2 ring. 4. Alarm volume: The volume of alarm waking to DAB+, FM, IPOD,BEEP Tone1, BEEP Tone2 is the half of the max volume. 5. Snooze: When alarm rings, press “SNOOZE” button and enter into snooze function. The snooze lasts 5 minutes. After 5 minutes, press “SNOOZE” button again to go on snoozing if needed. In the standby mode, two “Z” marks will be displayed at the right of the screen. But in working mode, there’s no these marks. If ALARM 1 enters into SNOOZE function, ALARM2 also enters into SNOOZE function after ring, the SNOOZE function of the ALARM 1 will be closed automatically. There’s only one ALARM can enter into SNOOZE. 6. SLEEP In working mode, make a long press of “SNOOZE” button to enter into sleep function setting, “Sleep Timer” will be displayed on the upper line of the screen, “OFF” displayed the lower right and keeps flashing. Then press “ ” or “ ” to select sleep time among “15min, 30min, 45min, 60min, 90min”. After pressed “ ” to confirm, sleep time will be displayed on the upper right of the screen. If don’t choose time, it will quit sleep setting automatically after 10 seconds. You can also press “ ” button to quit. 6. Battery powered mode: The radio may also be powered by four ‘C’ cell alkaline batteries (not supplied). When using battery to supply power, the unit function and operation is the same as that of using DC power supply. But the unit won’t charge your iPod/iPhone.. when the battery has low power, there will be lower power mark showing on the LCD screen. When it is almost out of power, the unit will return to standby mode.

Battery safety guidelines

Be sure to insert batteries of the correct type and ensure correct polarity (+/-) To insert batteries, remove the battery compartment cover and insert all 4 batteries with + on the left Ensure the cover is secure and remove batteries in a safe manner without the use of metalic or other conductive objects – please use the ribbon to assist in removing the batteries. Batteries should not be replaced by children Never dispose of batteries in fire as they may explode Only use batteries of the same type 4

Do not mix old and new batteries and do not mix alkaline and rechargeable batteries Do not attempt to charge non-rechargeable batteries If the radio is not going to be used for a long peirod of time, remove the batteries from the battery compartment Always remove spent batteries from the battery compartment and dispose of them responsibly to protect the environment
