Up Next... The Sooners wrap up their four-match homestand against Texas Tech on Saturday, November 12. The match will begin at 6 p.m. following the OU football game vs. Baylor. It will be the final Fan Appreciation match of the season with free admission. Sophomores Stepping Up... Sophomore outside hitters Madison Drescher and Alyssa Enneking have been pressed into larger roles in the Sooner rotation over the last month. With injuries to three starters, the sophomore combo has spent added time on the floor as the year has gone on. Drescher was forced to play out of position at middle blocker for a time and immediately made her presence known. Since October 1, she is averaging 2.55 kills and 0.74 blocks per set. Meanwhile, Enneking is averaging 3.55 kills and 3.16 digs per set over that same nine-match stretch as she remains in the game to pass and play the back row. She posted two double-doubles at West Virginia with 12 kills and 11 digs in the opener and followed with 16 kills and a careerhigh 28 digs in the finale. Sooners Dig It... Oklahoma is the only team in the league with two players among the Big 12’s top-10 digs per set leaders. Outside hitter Kimmy Gardiner is tops on the Sooners’ back row with 3.40 digs per set that ranks eighth in the conference. Rachel Manriquez is ninth at 3.39. Oklahoma last had a libero-outside hitter combo on the Big 12 leaderboard in 2013 when Taylor Migliazzo ranked fifth at 3.94 and Keila Rodriguez eighth at 3.24. Playing Like an All-American... Marion Hazelwood is a two-time AVCA All-America Honorable Mention, as well as the 2014 AVCA Southwest Rookie of the Year, through her first two full seasons. Over the course of Oklahoma’s six matches against AVCA Top-25 teams, Hazelwood hit an impressive .367 and averaged 3.24 kills per set. She has hit .400 or better three times and set a career-high in kills with 19 against No. 4 Texas (9/28), while hitting .500 with two errors on 34 attacks.

Senior middle blocker Micaela Spann had a streak of 96 consecutive matches played and started snapped as she was held out of Saturday’s contest at TCU (10/1). She has missed one other match in her career and that was against Alabama A&M at in 2013. Spann’s streak was one match shy of tying Suzy Boulavsky (2008-11) for the third longest under head coach Santiago Restrepo. The longest streak on record is Kierra Holst (2012-15), who played in all 124 matches of her career. Julia Doyle (2012-15) is second at 117. Game Warden... Redshirt-senior outside hitter Madison Ward was racking up the kills and appeared on track to be the next Sooner to reach 1,000 career kills until a recent hip injury at Texas Tech (10/12). She has totaled 197 to date this season, including a season-best 22 against Mississippi State (9/3), but has recorded just six since posting 18 in back-to-back matches at West Virginia (10/7-8). Ward’s career total stands at 956, putting her 44 away from becoming the 14th player in program history to reach the 1,000-kill mark. She has also totaled 687 digs and 195 blocks in 104 matches played. Keepin’ it 100... Entering the week, OU ranks in the top-50 in assists per set (34th), kills per set (40th) and hitting percentage (43rd). Under the current structure of the Big 12, since TCU and West Virginia joined the league for the 2012 season, Oklahoma has played 18 matches following a bye in the conference schedule. In those matches, the Sooners are 10-8, including a perfect 4-0 mark in 2014, with three such losses this season; at home to Texas (9/28), on the road at Baylor (10/22) and at home vs. Kansas (11/5).

PLEDGE FOR A CURE The Oklahoma volleyball
team continues the mission to honor the son of its head coach, Santiago Restrepo. When he was just one-and-ahalf years old, Javier Restrepo was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (ALL). In August 2008, he had a relapse and received a bone marrow transplant and then received a liver transplant but unfortunately relapsed again. Javi fought the disease like a true champion, nearly beating it on multiple occasions before it ultimately claimed his life on July 31, 2009.
