Intelligent Topology Intelligent Topology introduces a new method for establishing and understanding entities, their connectivity, relationships, and operating state. This provides insights at a glance and allows you to compare resource utilization and performance between entities. Intelligent Topologies provide a high-level summary of what is happening across various aspects of your infrastructure, according to how you have configured your entities and their interdependencies. They allow you to quickly identify issues, understand affected parts of the infrastructure, and determine if they are contributors to the issue. This is accomplished by layering indicative data on top of the entity in the topology view. This includes sparklines that show key trends related to performance, health and utilization, and alarm badges that identify if there is an event related to the entity or connected entities.

Intelligent topology enables users to view relationships and interdependencies between entities, as well as the relationships between the entities and the infrastructure that they are comprised of. For example, collaborative teams can uniformly visualize and understand the relationships between entities and the corresponding infrastructure. This includes VMs, servers, network and storage—any alarms associated with the application entity—and associated resource utilization and performance between entities.

Case-Based Alarms Alarms are typically automated responses generated by your infrastructure monitoring tools and are armed with good intent. But sometimes these alarms end up generating more noise than actionable information, defeating the purpose of having them at all. VirtualWisdom4 delivers a better, more intelligent approach, with case-based alarms that are relevant and actionable. An alarm-generating event opens a case and all subsequent related alarms populate that case — enabling you to understand trends and determine correlation and severity on a case-by-case basis, rather than alarm-by-alarm.

VirtualWisdom’s Case Management Framework then enables you to take action based on frequency and urgency of the occurrences of certain alarms in a given case.
