Welcome! We’re delighted and honoured to share the Compassion Project’s Fall 2014 programming with you.
An Organizational Change and Development Initiative – As the Compassion Project heads into its fifth year, we continue to be engaged in nurturing and strengthening cultures of compassion within health and human services.
A Journey Toward Your Deeper Sense of Purpose – Engage in an array of formation and learning opportunities from
one-hour introductions, to conferences, and workshops or delve into in-depth courses as a way of building your own resiliency and wellness.
A Legacy Continues – A legacy of compassion and hope continues today because of the vision and generosity of our sister leader predecessors – the Grey Nuns, the Sisters of the Good Shepherd, the Oblate Missionary Sisters and the Sisters of St. Benedict. They believe in the power of love and compassion and have invited us to find contemporary ways to be responsive to the needs of today’s world.
A Commitment to Nurturing the Resiliency of the Human Spirit – We wholeheartedly believe in the resiliency of the human spirit. We value the wisdom of all within our community. Your presence in the Compassion Project offerings will inspire, teach, and inform our community in a spirit of continuous improvement. Design Your Own Journey – Check out the Fall 2014 curriculum. Programme de réduction du stress par la pleine conscience
Mindfulness Training Program: Fostering Physician Wellness
This 8-week program is designed for physicians and is based on the Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) Program from the University of Massachusetts Medical School’s Center for Mindfulness in Healthcare, Medicine and Society. This course provides an opportunity to develop a fundamental capacity of mind that is relevant to both professional competence and personal health.

Compassion Cultivation Training (CCT) Join us for this 8-week program, designed by Stanford University’s Center for Compassion and Altruism Research and Education. CCT aims to make people become more aware and more connected with their compassionate nature so that their instinctive response to a given situation will come from that compassionate understanding standpoint rather than negative excessive judgment. Through instruction, daily meditation, awareness, and in-class interaction, the qualities of compassion, empathy, and kindness are strengthened. Learn how to train your mind to intentionally choose compassionate thoughts and actions and develop skills that help you relate to others—and yourself. Facilitators:

Mindful Self Compassion Most of us feel compassion when a close friend is struggling. What would it be like to receive the same caring attention whenever you needed it most? All that’s needed is a shift in the direction of our attention - recognizing that as a human being, you, too, are a worthy recipient of compassion. This 8-week program designed by Drs. Kristin Neff and Chris Germer teaches practices that have the power to radically transform the way you relate to yourself and your life. Facilitators:

Leading Differently: The Power of the Purposeful Pause
Cultivating Leadership Presence Through Mindfulness
In today’s world, leaders at all levels of an organization are faced with novel challenges, limited resources, and increased demands for their expertise and time. Fostering leadership excellence includes training our ability to focus, to see clearly, to cultivate space for creativity, and to embody compassion. In this 2-day workshop, we will be sharing mindfulness practices that cultivate and strengthen those innate capacities that enable us to lead with excellence. Participants will learn to recognize:
As leaders in an organization, we are charged with the responsibility of creating environments in which our colleagues and teams are nurtured and energized, our organizations innovate and flourish, and the relationship with clients/patients/ residents/families is built on a foundation of mutual trust and respect. This 4-day live-in retreat invites leaders to experientially explore mindfulness training in the context of leadership excellence. This systematic training of the mind cultivates the ability to be focused, clear, creative, and compassionate, even in the midst of the complexity of leading in today’s world.

Collaborative Communication/ Authentic Dialogue
Destructive communication patterns contribute to dehumanizing conditions and never really acknowledge or address the real needs of all involved. When you become conscious of your communication patterns and develop choice in how you think and react, you literally change the world in which you live. Join us for the 2-day experiential workshop based on the work of Dr. Marshall Rosenberg’s Nonviolent Communication (NVC) model where you will: • Practice deep listening and make requests that move conversations forward • Get a better sense of the NVC conversation flow and the choices that make it work • Learn a concrete set of skills to help create life-serving environments.
