4. INSTALLATION REQUIREMENTS Requirements •

5. DECT SETUP 5.1 MOUNTING THE DOCKING STATION Proceed as follows: 1. On the bottom of your device, remove the overlay covering the DECT slot.

2. Insert the DECT cradle in the DECT slot.

3. The DECT cradle is now ready for use. You can now recharge the batteries of your DECT phone by placing it in the cradle.

5.2 CONNECTING THE DECT PHONE Introduction The Residential Gateway is equipped with a DECT base station allowing you to connect up to five DECT phones. Before you can start using your DECT phone, you first have to pair it with your Residential Gateway.

Procedure Proceed as follows: 1. Put the Residential Gateway in pairing mode. You can do either of the following: Press the DECT button on the Residential Gateway until the DECT LED on the front panel starts flashing.

Via the Residential Gateway GUI. 1. On the Toolbox menu, click Telephony. 2. Under Pick a task, click DECT pairing. 2. Put your DECT phone in pairing mode.

5.3 REGISTER TH58 TO TG799vn Proceed as follows: 1. The DECT phone prompts you to register your handset. If you do not see this message, open the Menu and select Settings > Registration > Register Handset. 2. Press 3. The DECT phone prompts you to start registration on your base station. 4. Start DECT registration (also referred to as DECT pairing) on your base station. For more information, consult the documentation of your base station. 5. Press 6. If your DECT phone prompts you to enter the system PIN, enter the system PIN of your base station. In most cases, the system PIN will be “0000”. 7. Your DECT phone is now looking for your base station. 8. When successful, your DECT phone prompts you that your DECT phone is now registered.

6. EASY SETUP Proceed as follows: 1. Connect the TG799vn to your broadband service. 2. Power on the TG799vn. 3. Connect your computer to the TG799vn. 4. Launch your Internet Browser.

5. Your Internet Browser will automatically redirect to TG799vn welcome page. 6. Click on Setup my Residential Gateway. 7. Easy Setup will appear, click Next to proceed.

8. Service Selection will appear , select your desired service and click Next.

Note HSI(GPON) • Internet with No VoIP HSI(GPON) & VoIP • Internet with VoIP HIS(GPON), +Public+ VoIP • Internet with VoIP and Static IP for Camera service.

9. Input your Internet Account User Name and Password , click Next to proceed.

10. Select your access selection , click Next to proceed.

12. Input your Voice Account Telephone Number, User Name and Password. Click Next to proceed.

13. Verify your configuration and click Start to apply.

14. Please wait for the wizard to complete the configuration.

15. Done! You have successfully setup TG799vn. Click Finish to close the wizard.

7. MANUAL SETUP GUI Proceed as follows: 1. Open your web browser. 2. Browse to http://dsldevice.lan or to the IP address of your TG799vn (by default: 192.168.1.254) 3. The TG799vn GUI appears.

Modify username password 1. Click on eInternet to configure your user name and password.

2. Enter your Username and Password and click Connect.

Modify VoIP Settings 1. To configure your VoIP settings. Click on Toolbox.

2. In Toolbox click on Telephony.

3. In Telephony click on Configure.

4. Input your VoIP account details and click Apply.

*Note SIP URI: same details as username. Display name: same details as username. Abbreviated number: leave it blank. Port: Select All to configure for both port FXS1 and FXS2. Otherwise select which port you would like to assign.

8. WIRELESS CONFIGURATION Wireless Connection If you want to connect your computer using a wireless connection, you will need a WiFi-certified wireless client adapter for each computer you want to connect wirelessly. Before you can connect a computer to your wireless network you need to know the wireless settings that are currently used by the TG799vn : • The Network Name (SSID) • The wireless key TG TG799vn default SSID and Wireless key is printed at the bottom panel of the Gateway.

To change TG799vn wireless settings: 1. Open your web browser. 2. Browse to http://dsldevice.lan or to the IP address of your TG799vn (by default: 192.168.1.254). 3. The TG799vn GUI appears. And click on Home Network.

4. In Home Network click on WLAN.

5. In WLAN click on Configure.

6. Modify your desired settings and click Apply.

9. PORT FORWARDING CONFIGURATION To change TG799vn Port Forwarding settings: 1. Open your web browser. 2. Browse to http://dsldevice.lan or to the IP address of your TG799vn (by default: 192.168.1.254). 3. The TG799vn GUI appears. And click on Toolbox.

4. In Toolbox click on Game & Application Sharing.

5. In Game & Application Sharing click on Configure.

6. Select your application and device. Click Add and incoming request for the selected service will now be directed to the selected device. The TG799vn will also configure the its firewall to allow this service.

10. DMZ CONFIGURATION Proceed as follows: 1. On the Home Network menu, click Devices. 2. In the Pick a task... list, click Assign the public IP address of a connection to a device.

3. Click the Edit link of your eInternet connection. 4. In the Device list, select the device you want to assign the public address to.

5. Click Apply. 6. The RGW prompts you that you will have as a result of the new configuration, click OK. 7. Release and renew the IP address of the device.

8. To remove or unassigned the device from DMZ zone. 9. Click on Unassign and release renew the IP address on the device.

11. USB FILE SHARING Requirements Your USB storage device must be formatted as FAT32.

Connecting your USB storage device to the Residential Gateway Proceed as follows: 1. Plug your USB memory stick or external hard disk in (one of) the USB master port(s) of your TG799vn.

Using the Network File Server Procedure: 1. Open your web browser. 2. Browse to http://dsldevice.lan or to the IP address of your TG799vn (by default: 192.168.1.254). 3. The TG799vn GUI appears. And click on Toolbox.

4. On the Toolbox menu, click Content Sharing.

5. On the Content Sharing, click on Configure.

6. Under Network File Server (Windows Networking), click Server Enabled. 7. Click Apply. 8. All users connected to the TG799vn can now connect to your USB storage device

*Note Server Name: You will use this name to access the USB storage. If you leave this field empty you can only access your USB storage device by entering the IP address (by default: 192.168.1.253).

Accessing the shared content on Windows Proceed as follows: 1. Open Window Explorer. 2. In the address bar, type two backslashes followed by the name that you entered in the Server Name box (in our example: \\Residential).

If you did not provide a server name, type \\192.168.1.253.

3. All storage devices that are attached to your Residential Gateway are listed as folders.

If the storage device has multiple partitions an index number will be added at the end (for example: Disk_a1 and Disk_a2). If the partition is a managed partition, the Media and Shared folders will be displayed instead.

Accessing the shared content on MAC Proceed as follows: 1. On the Go menu, click Connect To Server. 2. The Connect To Server window appears. 3. In the Server Address box, type smb://, where is the Server Name you assigned to your USB storage device. So in our example we will type smb://Residential.

If you did not provide a server name, type \\192.168.1.253.

4. The SMB Mount window appears.

Select the shared folder you want to mount and click OK. 5. The SMB/CIFS Filesystem Authentication window appears. You do not need to authenticate, click OK. 6. Your USB storage device is now mounted and is displayed on your desktop.

Unmounting your USB device Proceed as follows 1. Browse to the Residential Gateway GUI. 2. On the Toolbox menu, click Content Sharing. 3. In the Navigation bar, click Configure. 4. Click Unmount. 5. Unplug your USB storage device from the Residential Gateway.

12. USB PRINTER SHARING Printer Sharing * Pre-requisite before the print server. 1. Connect the USB printer to the TG799vn USB port. 2. You have the printer software loaded on the PC (OS 2K/XP/Vista and OS X) 3. The printing format used is RAW.

Open Printer and Faxes and click on Add a printer.

Select Local printer and untick UPNP printer

Select create a new port and select “ ”

Click Next

Add printer IP address as 192.168.1.253

Select custom and click on settings

Select Protocol as: LPR Insert Queue Name as: printer TICK a LPR Rate Counting Enabled

Select your printer or use the Printer Installation CD to reinstall the printer driver

Select a default printer

Select Do not share the printer

Finish! Your printer sharing is completed.

13. TROUBLESHOOTING None of the lights light up (Residential Gateway does not work) Make sure that: • The Residential Gateway is plugged into a power socket outlet. • You are using the correct power supply for your Residential Gateway device. The power requirements for your Residential Gateway are clearly indicated on the identification label of the Residential Gateway. Only use the power adaptor supplied with your Residential Gateway.

The Broadband LED does not light up Make sure that: • Ethernet Cable to WAN port is connected. • ONT is turned on.

The Internet LED does not light up Make sure that your user name and password are correct. Proceed as follows: 1. Browse to the Residential Gateway GUI. 2. On the Broadband menu, click Internet Services. 3. Under Internet, click View More. 4. Check your user name. 5. Re-enter your password. 6. Click Connect.

Ethernet LED does not light up Make sure that: • The Ethernet cable is securely connected to the Ethernet port on your Thomson Gateway and your computer. • You are using the correct cable type for your Ethernet equipment, that is UTP CAT5 with RJ-45 connectors.

No Wireless Connectivity Try the following: • Change the wireless channel. • Make sure that the wireless client is configured for the correct wireless settings (Network Name, security settings). • Check the signal strength, indicated by the wireless client manager. If the signal is low, try repositioning the Residential Gateway or directing the Residential Gateway’s antenna(s) for optimal performance. • Make sure that the wireless client adapter is enabled (message like “radio on”).

Poor Wireless Connectivity or Range Try the following: • Change the wireless channel. • Check the signal strength, indicated by the wireless client manager. If the signal is low, try to place the Residential Gateway or to direct the Residential Gateway’s antenna(s) for optimal performance. • Use WPA(2)-PSK as encryption.

Change the wireless channel Proceed as follows: Change the wireless channel. 1. Browse to the Residential Gateway GUI. 2. On the left menu, click Home Network. 3. Under Wireless, click your access point.

Your access point will be listed in the following format: “WLAN: ()”. For example, WLAN: Residential83C7C7 (54Mbps).

4. The Wireless Access Point page appears. 5. In the Navigation bar, click Configure. 6. Under Configuration, select the channel of your choice in the Channel Selection list. 7. Click Apply.

Calling over VoIP If you have problems calling via VoIP, check whether: • Your phone is correctly connected to the Thomson Gateway. • Your phone is working on the traditional telephone network (PSTN): Connect your phone directly to the telephone wall outlet. Try to make a phone call. • Your phone number, user name, and password are configured correctly. • The registrar’s and proxy server’s IP address and port number are configured correctly. • The Power, Broadband/DSL and Voice LEDs are on.

14. RESET TO FACTORY DEFAULT Resetting your Thomson Gateway If at some point you can no longer connect to the Residential Gateway or you want to make a fresh install, it may be useful to perform a reset to factory defaults.

Warning: A reset to factory default settings deletes all configuration changes you made. Therefore, after the reset, a reconfiguration of your Residential Gateway will be needed. Also your wireless clients will have to be re-associated.

Methods You can choose between: • Resetting the Residential Gateway via the Residential Gateway GUI • Reset the Residential Gateway via the Reset buttonts

Resetting the Residential Gateway via the Residential Gateway GUI Proceed as follows: 1. Browse to the Residential Gateway GUI. 2. On the Residential Gateway menu, click Configuration. 3. In the Pick a task list, click Reset my Residential Gateway. 4. The Residential Gateway restores the initial configuration and restarts. 5. The Residential Gateway returns to the Residential Gateway home page (unless the IP address of your computer is not in the same subnet as the default IP address of the Residential Gateway, being 192.168.1.254).

Reset the Residential Gateway via the Reset button Proceed as follows: 1. Make sure the Residential Gateway is turned on. 2. Push the Reset button until the Power LED lights red - this will take about 7 seconds. 3. Release the Reset button. 4. The Residential Gateway restarts.

15. FIRMWARE UPGRADE 1. PC local network setting: Please change the Network Card TCP/IP setting to Use the following IP address:

2. Run UpgradeST.exe

3. Click Next.

4. Enter User Name : Administrator Password : (modem Access Key) Click OK.

5. Click Have Disk.

6.Click Browse and locate the firmware image. Once located click OK.

7. Select the Firmware image and click Next.

8. Please wait while the Wizard upgrades the TG799vn.

9. Done! Click Finish to close the wizard. Now reset your TG799vn to factory default to activate the new firmware.
