Academic Residential Community Resident Assistants (ARC RAs) bring specialized academic backgrounds, experiential knowledge, and institutional relationships to these blended, live-in academic peer mentor roles. ARC RAs collaborate with their Residence Life Coordinator and ARC Faculty Director and Program Coordinator to fashion a unique community for their ARC residents. ARC RAs integrate the curricular and co-curricular elements of the ARC into the Residential Learning Model (RLM) of Residence Life through their 1:1 meetings with residents, regular community meetings, community time, facilitation of resident-led events, and general referrals and connections of residents to campus resources. The interweaving of the ARC into the RLM is central and integrative to the work of the ARC RA position and not an additional or ancillary set of responsibilities. Art and Design: Students living in this community will work together to develop creative art and design projects. They will discover how art and design can transform the world. There will be opportunities to connect with artists and designers from the university and beyond. College of Business Residential Community: This is a multi-cohort community comprised of pre-business students in the Building Business Leaders program or are exploring a career in business. Carnegie Global Oregon: Works to bring leaders from many different backgrounds to explore ethical issues that challenge us in our lives and careers. Community for Ecological Leaders: People live and learn through a shared passion for exploring sustainability through field trips, volunteer service events, and course work. Community for Multicultural Scholars: Gives opportunities for student to share diverse identities, cultures, an experiences by living and learning together. Community for Musical Scholars: Exciting and supportive community that is designed for students who are admitted music majors. Community for Social Activism: Learning environment for students passionate about the pursuit of justice and social change through partnerships with the School of Law, Conflict Resolution Program, and Department of Philosophy. Gender Equity: This community is for students who want to live with others who are committed to gender inclusion and equity. Residents can choose to live with any gender identity or biological sex, as this community does not conform to the male/female binary. Living the Language: Provides opportunities for students to engage in a target language to improve their own language proficiency in addition to engaging in culturally-relevant experiences. Languages include Chinese, French, German, Japanese, and Spanish. Media and Social Action: Geared towards students who are interested in communication and have a passion for social issues. Community focuses on how to harness digital, social, and new media to raise awareness, shape attitudes, and move people toward meaningful action. Native American and Indigenous Studies: This community is dedicated to indigenous intellectual, social, and cultural life, designed to introduce students to the field of Native Studies and provide a strong cohort for student success. This is geared towards students who are interested in learning about indigenous peoples around the world, developing knowledge and an understanding about the issues and challenges facing today's and tomorrow's indigenous communities. Robert D Clark Honors College: Engages students with faculty members, peer advisers, visiting scholars, and peers in the Honors College. Some floors in GSH are all CHC students while the rest of the cohort is spread throughout the building, meaning the number of direct CHC residents varies from floor to floor. Service Learning: Opportunities for students to get to know Eugene and learn about their role as an active citizen and community member. The ARCA position is co-funded by the ARC Faculty Director and Program Directors to create additional opportunities for the enrichment of the community. College of Business Residential Community ARCA: Assists in the management of the CBRC ARC. This requires good communication and regular meetings with people involved in the community. Assist with admissions phone calls and plans one event per term with Lundquist College of Business (LCB). CBRC ARCA Qualifications: Previous experience including CBRC internship, BBL leadership involvement, LCB Peer Advisor, Duck Guide, BA 199 Teaching Assistant, RA or MRA experience in the residence halls. Upper class standing, graduate student eligible. Global Scholars Hall ARCA: Assists the Residence Life Coordinator and Resident Scholar in facilitation of Living the Language and Robert D. Clark Honors College ARCs. Plans two programs term while holding 5 hours of office hours per week. Assists RLC and RS with program facilitation, booking rooms, ordering catering, media for events, etc. Opportunities to create a special project based on interest. GSH ARCA Qualifications: Maintain full time student status while holding the position. Have senior standing (135 credits) or be a graduate student by Fall term 2017. Have three years full-time college experience. LGBTQIA+ Scholars ARCA: Assists with the management of the LGBTQIA+ Scholars ARC. and RLC, assisting with a 1 credit course, managing social media, event facilitation, holding office hours, and contributing to the strategic planning process for the ARC. LGBTQIA+ Scholars ARCA Qualifications: Successful completion of the introduction to Queer studies or equivalent course as determined by the Faculty Director/Program Coordinator. Umoja Pan-African Scholars ARCA: Assists in the management of the Umoja Pan-African Scholars ARC. This community was designed with the intent to meet the social and academic needs of Black-identified student through fostering an understanding of and respect for Black cultures, identities, and histories. The position requires collaboration with Pan-African student groups, the Black Student Task Force, and supporting logistics of the ARC’s programming. Umoja Pan-African Scholars ARCA Qualifications: Be intimately familiar with the daily Lived Experiences of people of African descent, complete one course that focuses on race/ethnicity or is social justice-centered prior to fall 2017, involvement in Black/African co-curricular opportunities on or off campus, and have knowledge of historical, institutional, societal barriers faced by contemporary Black/African students in America.
