Message From Associate Vice President for Research & Dean of Graduate Studies Welcome to Research Day 2014 at Florida Gulf Coast University (FGCU)! Since 2002, Research Day has highlighted, celebrated, and recognized research-related scholarly and creative achievements accomplished by FGCU faculty, students, and staff. On Research Day, faculty, students, and staff present their research findings from the previous year. Research Day was originally held in the Cohen Center, but it has been held in Alico Arena since 2005 to accommodate the increasing volume of research presentations. On average, faculty and staff have secured more than $13 million every year in research funding in various fields, such as basic sciences, applied engineering and technology, education and training programs, instructional technology, healthcare and health professions, social sciences, business development and consultations, community services, program evaluations, broadcast services, etc. These research, scholarly, and creative activities are indicators of the substantial contributions by FGCU faculty, students, and staff to research and education. The Research Day award ceremony, which recognizes participants and award recipients, will begin at 3:00 p.m. at Alico Arena. I encourage everybody to take part in this ceremony. Please accept my sincere gratitude for your participation in FGCU Research Day 2014. Go Eagles! Kind regards,
TC Yih, Ph.D. Associate Vice President for Research & Dean of Graduate Studies Office of Research & Graduate Studies Florida Gulf Coast University
