Request for Information (RFI) for Centrifugal Diesel-Driven Pump Sets Response deadline, 10th February 2015, 23:59 (CET)

UNICEF is looking to increase the number and geographical spread of suppliers for a range centrifugal diesel-driven pump sets for pumping water. This RFI is issued as part of our market survey to expand our supply base and to identify potential suppliers for future tenders. UNICEF has a range of pumps that fall into this category and that are ordered from time to time. Refer to the Annex 1 for further details. As this is only a request for information and not a request to submit a formal offer, the specifications are provided to enable supplier to assess whether they can supply the items and to give indicative cost for each type. Providing alternative(s) that deviate from the specifications in Annex 1 (below) is acceptable and encouraged to assist us in identifying other alternatives that are available in the market. However, please note that we are looking for complete kits that include pump, engine, hoses, mounting, spare parts etc. We kindly request you to provide us with the following information:     

If you can supply any of the pump sets described in Annex 1 or propose an equivalent alternative; If there are any specific requirements that you cannot meet; Technical details and specifications of your product; Indicative prices of the pump sets you can supply; Whether you would be interested in being invited to tender for such pump sets when we next have the need.

Annex 1 The following description is common to all the sets described below with reference numbers: S0009100, S90009101, S0009102, S0009103, S0009104, S0009105. The pumping sets are to be used for pumping water from shallow wells, rivers, lakes. Pumping heads are given as total manometric head (TMH). Self-priming, diesel driven centrifugal pump Required with two mounting options:  

on a trolley with 2 wheels and a handlebar; on a sturdy steel skid with carrying handles. The skid has pre-drilled holes to facilitate bolting it to a foundation.

The pump is coupled directly to a diesel engine of matching power requirement. The pump casing, shaft and impeller are made from cast iron, and the water seal on the shaft is mechanical. The suction inlet and discharge outlets are required in various diameters depending on the pumping capacity of the pump; these vary in size such as: 50, 65, 75, 100 and 150 mm. The suction inlet and discharge outlet will be the most efficient standard diameters established by manufacturer depending on the pumping capacity of the pump. The supplier will also provide the most efficient diameter of inlet/outlet pipes/hoses with the pump (if other sizes and adapters have not been requested). The hoses are supplied with matching bayonet type couplings to match the pump inlet/outlets. Bayonet couplings are preferably of Guillemin or Storz types. An air-cooled, direct injection, diesel engine powers this range of pumps. The engine is fitted with a speed control governor, a fuel tank with sufficient capacity for 2 to 3 hours of continuous normal operation. The engine is also fitted with a sound proof muffler and the liners are re-borable. Two choices of air filters are required: a dry type, or oil bath type. Supplied with following accessories: 1 x suction hose, semi-rigid, minimum 5 m. 1 x delivery hose, minimum 20 m. 1 x stainless steel strainer. 1 x non return valve. 1 x tool kit for installation, operation and maintenance. 1 x oil container, 4 litres, for diesel engine. 1 x spare parts kit for 2000 hours of normal operation, including various filters, seals and one injector. S0009100 Pump centrifugal,diesel,5cbm/hr@20m TMH Requirements: As general plus: Capacity 5 m3/hr at 20 m TMH for 1-m suction head. Maximum suction lift 7 m.

Maximum suction lift 5 m. The engine is required with two choices of starting devices: recoil starter, or electric starter with 12 Volt battery and charging alternator. S0009102 Pump centrifugal,diesel,20cbm/hr@20m TMH Requirements: As general plus: Capacity 20 m3/hr 20 meter TMH (Total Manometric Head) for 1-m suction head. Maximum suction lift 5 m. Two choices of starting devices are required: recoil starter, or electric starter with 12 Volt battery and charging alternator. S0009103 Pump centrifugal,diesel,30cbm/hr@20m TMH Requirements: As general plus: Capacity of 30 m3/hr at 20 m TMH for 1-m suction head. Maximum suction lift 5 m (potentially up to 7 m on request). Two choices of starting devices are required: recoil starter, or electric starter with 12 Volt battery and charging alternator. S0009104 Pump centrifugal,diesel,40cbm/hr@20m TMH Requirements: As general plus: Self-priming centrifugal pumping set, capacity 40 m3/hr at around 2900 RPM, at 20 m TMH for 1-m suction head. S5006061 Pump Kit,2"/50mm,centrifugal,diesel driven General Description: 2" centrifugal pump directly coupled to a diesel engine, supplied with suction and discharge hoses and mounting. For use in static settings for piped supplies or where filling of tankers required The kit is similar to Oxfam kit (code P2 - ALLO/3) "2" Atalanta Swallow S50 Lombardini 15LD315 Diesel Pump Set with Hose, but can be of any brand satisfying the technical specifications. Requirements: Pump/Engine Set, Comprising: 2" x 2" (50 x 50 mm) single-stage centrifugal self-priming pump. Performance criteria: appr. 43 m3/hr at 10 m head, through 28 m3/hr at 20m head to appr. 8 m3/hr at 30m head Construction is all cast iron with 2-stage mechanical carbon/ceramic seal, stainless steel shaft sleeve, renewable steel wear plate, semi open clog resistant impeller, integral non-return valve, detachable discharge bend, casing clean out cover, prime and drain points and 2" BSP male suction and discharge connections. Pump is driven by a single cylinder 4 stroke air-cooled diesel engine developing at least 4.5 KW at 3600 rpm with recoil start, renewable element air, oil and fuel filters, fuel tank sufficient to hold fuel for 4 hr operation, automatic low oil shut down, throttle control, oil drain tap and exhaust silencer. Pump and engine are close coupled together and mounted on a common fabricated steel base plate. Drilled 4 x holding down bolts. Pump set identification plate secured to base plate with Code 'S5006061-P2-ALLO/3_Diesel 2" pumpset stamped on it. Supplied with: Connection accessories, comprising: Suction The suction side shall include the following: 1 x 3" hose, length 30 m, reinforced plastic flexible medium duty, (Green low toxic). 1 x 70 mm foot valve with 74 mm hose tail (fitted to the above hose). 1 x 3" hose band (fitted to above). 1 x 3" BSP (F) hose coupling MI (fitted to above). 1 x 3" hose clamp (fitted to above). 1 x 3" hose band (fitted to above). 1 x 3" (M) to 2"(F) BSP reducer GS. 10 x 3" Hose coupling washers. Pump Spares The following spares for the pump shall be supplied and should be sufficient for one year of operation: 1 x Mechanical seal 1 x Gasket set Engine consumables The following items of engine consumable spares shall be supplied and should be sufficient for one year of operation: 8 x Air filter element 8 x Oil filter element 8 x 'O' Ring for oil filter 8 x Fuel filter element 2 x Gasket set Engine oil The supply shall include 5 litre container of engine oil (15W/40) complying to specification API SJ/CF for diesel engines or MIL-L-46152 D/E. Non-hazardous for air/sea freight.
