Pearson and McGonigle Halls Addition & Renovation, Philadelphia, PA The renovation and addition of Pearson and McGonigle Halls serves as a highly visible symbol of Temple University’s plans to energize Broad Street, a main campus thoroughfare. The project joined two adjacent sports and recreation facilities Designers developed a creative solution to the site’s urban constraints: a two-story upper level constructed across the top of the two buildings. This new level provides regulation practice courts for both Temple’s men’s and women’s basketball teams as well as locker rooms, sports medicine center, weight room, Athletic office suite, Team room, and Sports Hall of Fame. Also included on this floor is a four-court gymnasium for recreational use, a Campus Recreation office suite and multi-purpose rooms.

Crounse Academic Center, Danville, KY Crounse Hall is at the heart of students’ academic experience at Centre College, and Hastings+Chivetta designed the renovation and new façade to reflect the campus' return to its Federal-style character. The Doherty Library is housed here and was expanded with a two-story reading and reference space while collapsible stacks made it possible for the addition of 60,000 books. A 170-seat movie theatre is included, as well as a state-of-theart media center, classrooms and lecture halls. Stacks Before

Young Science Hall, Danville, KY As a result of Centre’s new strategic plan which requires increasing opportunities for undergraduate research, Hastings+Chivetta was retained to design a two-story Science Center to adjoin Young Hall on the front and side. The exterior is brick and stone masonry with a sloped shingle roof to blend with the architectural themes found in the exteriors of Crounse and Sutcliffe halls. Young Hall, built in 1970, was renovated. The two-building complex houses psychology, psychobiology, biology, biochemistry and molecular biology programs, as well as organic and inorganic chemistry.

Student Recreation Complex, Columbia, MO Integrating four buildings from different eras into one Student Recreation Complex on the Missouri flagship campus was a challenge for Hastings+Chivetta. The solution is a 290,000 SF award-winning facility that blends new construction with renovations to the existing Recreation Center plus two historic buildings - Brewer Field House and Rothwell Gymnasium. The complex features an indoor competitive 50-meter pool, ten-meter diving well, 1,000 spectator seats and a wet classroom. The fitness center includes 20,000 SF of cardio and strength training equipment, classroom, snack bar, quiet fitness space and glass-enclosed 42-foot tall climbing wall.

Student Recreation Center Renovation and Addition, Fort Collins, CO When Colorado State University wanted to update their Student Recreation Center, they chose Hastings+Chivetta to employ a design that reflects its dynamic, updated strategic plan. The renovated building features a bank of windows in the fitness center to allow views to the snow-capped Rocky Mountains, instead of a dated photo mural of the mountains. The center provides recreation services including meeting rooms, outdoor pursuits, intramural offices, two multipurpose courts, a climbing wall and a new fitness center that nearly doubles the size of the previous.
