Diesel Systems the list. Manufacturing facilities are located in Bangalore, Nashik and Jaipur. With turnkey application capability and local project management, the division has always been future-ready, offering professional support to Indian and international OEMs by enabling them to meet current and future emission regulations. It has a high-tech automotive R&D facility - Technical Center India (TCI) at Bangalore. Foremost in India, the center conducts reliability testing and validation support for various products during the development phase, not just for Bosch but also for OEMs. The division's activities in 2013 reflected the global Bosch legacy of customizing innovations as per local needs. For India, the pricesensitive and technology-intensive Low Priced Vehicle (LPV) segment portfolio was further strengthened with the launch of the Gen 3 CRS. The development of a robust and cost-effective Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) system was started which will improve fuel efficiency in commercial vehicles and offer full compliance to future emission norms. The A5000 inline type-fuel injection pump in combination with an electronic governor provides a robust system solution for off-highway segment, and already meets the upcoming emission norms.

Bosch Diesel Systems division in India is an acknowledged pioneer and leader of diesel fuel injection technology for passenger cars and commercial vehicles. It specializes in development, application and manufacturing of advanced Common Rail Fuel Injection Equipment and exhaust gas after-treatment systems which are energy-efficient and eco-friendly. In line with the requirements of the emerging markets, our Gasoline Systems division offers proven Engine Management System components that help in meeting the stringent emission norms and improving fuel economy.

‘Inspired mobility’ is the vision and ‘cost leadership by innovation’ the business approach of the Gasoline Systems division which offers a wide range of system concepts and components for internal-combustion engines for passenger cars and small engines. This also includes the classic port fuel injection system for emerging concepts such as bi-fuel CNG and gasoline direct injection systems. The division is continuing to invest in systems and component engineering to develop complete locally-specific powertrain solutions. For passenger cars, the division has the right generator with increased efficiency for every kind that offers unfailing supply of energy, suited to the power-output requirements of the electrical systems. Generators are suited to specific needs, such as small cars with low electrical energy requirements or for mid-class /upper-class cars which have a range of safety and comfort functions. For commercial vehicles, the generators have high density of performance, especially useful in road haulage conditions and off-highway sector where safety and comfort are prime concerns. The innovative Start/Stop starter motors are advanced, costeffective, fuel-saving and particularly efficient in the ‘stop-and-go’ conditions of dense urban traffic. The New Base Line Generator for passenger cars is an ongoing success which led to new customer acquisitions and helped generate good export volume. This has further strengthened business leading to expansion to a second manufacturing location of the new Starters. Product Range

Bosch Starter Motors and Generators India offers a wide range of products for diesel/gasoline engines that are compact, innovative, advanced and offer noticeable fuel economy. The division develops and manufactures long-life starters and alternators for passenger cars/commercial vehicles, the economical and comfortable Start/Stop systems and electric motors for hybrid vehicles. Due to lower weight, the compact starter motors for passenger cars render lower fuel consumption and reduced emissions. The reductiongear starter motors offer features such as high power density and top quality. For commercial vehicles, the starter motors designed are suited to any kind of electrical system (12V/24V). Light and compact in construction, their thermal and water protection features ensure reliability and longevity.

Automotive Aftermarket The product range from the division is the largest consolidated under one brand in India, having applications in 2- and 3wheelers, cars, MUVs, LCVs, HCVs, buses, tractors, off-road applications and stationary engines. It also has a strong presence in the Indian automotive services sector. Service network is spread across 1200 towns and cities with around 3050 service outlets which ensures widespread availability of both products and services. Apart from this, the division also has a strong automotive training network that spans over 14 cities thereby covering Parts, Bytes, Services and Training all under one roof. A key highlight of 2013 has been the opening of Bosch Car Service Center in Leh, at an altitude of 11,562 feet. The existing product range has been expanded with new product lines such as battery, fork oils for 2-wheelers and premium/spot lamps for cars. Distribution network has also extended with the appointment of more than 255 new first trade level customers. Optimal Diesel Partner (ODP) - a new workshop module for diesel service was launched to ramp up the service network. New and modern warehouses at Bhubaneswar and Indore for Independent Aftermarket, and at Pune for OE Spares were also set up. The division is accredited with ISO 9001:2008 by TUV Nord (India) for design, development, manufacture and service of automotive diagnostic equipment, product marketing, sourcing, supply and warehousing of Bosch automotive products. Bosch Automotive Aftermarket division is responsible for the supply, sales and distribution of all Bosch branded automotive parts for vehicle servicing; diagnostic equipment for workshops; technical after-sales service; imparting technical information; training personnel and consulting. The division is on the way to becoming a complete solution provider of diagnostic services in Indian market, especially since the acquisition of SPX Service Solutions in 2012.

Bosch Automotive Electronics India Private Limited subsidiary began operations by manufacturing engine Electronic Control Units (ECU) in 2009, especially to address the needs of the emerging markets. Bosch Electrical Drives India Private Limited subsidiary is engaged in development, application, manufacturing and sales of wiper systems including wiper motors, wiper arms, wiper blades, HVAC blower motors, window lift motors and other system components. Started in 2008, the subsidiary has capably met the needs of the emerging markets with costeffective and qualitative products. Innovations are based on the continuous expansion of technology competencies in mechanics and electronics. The subsidiary set up a new plant at Oragadam, Chennai in 2013. The new facility is equipped to encompass design, development and testing along with scalable production of actuation, thermal and wiper systems for the Indian automotive market. The subsidiary caters to both local and global OEMs in India, directly or through Tier 1 suppliers.

Bosch Chassis Systems India Limited subsidiary develops and manufactures braking system components and vehicle safety systems for the Indian automotive industry. It proposes, designs and develops the right kind of brake systems for the OEMs. The Company has competency in networking active and passive safety systems with driver assistance systems, thereby realizing new dimensions in safety, agility, and comfort. Established in 1985, manufacturing plants are located at Chakan and Manesar. In 2009, it became the first Company in India to manufacture Antilock Braking System (ABS) - an active safety system that helps avoid accidents in critical emergency situations. It caters to the steering systems market for Indian commercial vehicles and passenger cars. Located at Phulgaon, Pune - ZF Lenksysteme India Pvt. Ltd. produces ZF-Servolectric® column type, an electric power steering which is specially designed to meet the demands of the micro- and small-car market in India. The company also develops and produces hydraulic and electro hydraulic steering systems for commercial vehicles, and supplies steering pumps and accessories for the complete steering system. The ZF-Servocom® has been the benchmark in the field of hydraulic ball-and-nut power steering systems for commercial vehicles for decades.

ETAS Embedded software is a driver for innovation as it enables the development and use of new technologies. Founded in 1994 as a 100% subsidiary of the Bosch Group, ETAS is a leading provider of solutions and services for the development of embedded systems for the automotive industry and other sectors of the embedded industry. Security solutions in the area of embedded systems are offered by the ETAS subsidiary ESCRYPT. ETAS customers are OEMs, Tier 1s, ECU suppliers, and engineering service providers. ETAS has international subsidiaries and sales offices in 13 countries in Europe, North and South America, and Asia. In India, operations began in 2007 with the establishment of a subsidiary in Bangalore. The local team offers complete services and individual solutions by providing sales, consulting, on-site support, and engineering services. ETAS expanded its presence in India by opening an additional office in Pune and Chennai. ETAS tools are open, scalable, flexible, and based on standards. They can be easily customized and integrated into the existing customers’ tool and process environments.

Packaging Technology The ISO 9001:2008 certified Packaging Technology division based in Goa designs, manufactures and markets ‘form, fill and seal machines’ for flexible pouch packing, flow wrap machines for pillow packed candy applications and liquid pharmaceutical products. The two business units of food confectionary and pharmaceutical machines form the core of Bosch Packaging business in India. The division offers customized packaging solutions as well, and the machines are known to result in lower servicing costs and reduced downtime. Business is complemented with a well spread network of service outlets across India which offer extended service and engineering support. In 2013, the division transformed from being a packaging machine supplier to a total system solution provider in the market. Focus was to develop new products for both vertical and horizontal product lines, which were picked up very well in the markets. The pharmaceutical unit gained a good track despite tough market and competitive environment. The Special Purpose Machines (SPM) / Industrial Equipment division provides turnkey solutions for requirements in metal cutting and assembly lines for automotive and electrical sectors. Established exclusively in 1970, the division has emerged to be a front runner in the industry in India. It started with the critical role of supplying precision toolings needed for in-house production of fuel injection pumps, spark plugs, starters, alternators and other products. It is ISO 9001:2008 certified for design, manufacturing and servicing of SPMs and tools by TUV NORD CERT GmbH. The division builds and delivers special machines and precision toolings for manufacturing assembly lines for various applications. A track record in itself, over 2700 such SPM test equipment and assembly lines manufactured by the division are operating successfully at all Bosch plants in India and other automotive industries. Power Tools Bosch power tools are designed to save energy, yet deliver high levels of performance. For the first time, a unique concept event - ‘Construction Monster’ - was held in New Delhi, Chennai and Mumbai in 2013. Launched in February 2014, the new division Bosch Energy and Building Solutions is a full-line solution provider for efficient energy products, solutions and services, thus bringing the global Bosch expertise in the field to India. For India, the division is focused on the sales of solar photovoltaic power plants, thermal energy, heat pumps, CHP solutions and cogeneration. It has introduced patented technology for heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) system that reduces energy costs by 30% and also improves air quality. Located in Bangalore, it is the first such office in Asia-Pacific. The division is empanelled as the highest rated channel partner for Ministry of New & Renewable Energy (MNRE), India. In 2013, the division made a foray in the residential sector by becoming an empanelled solution provider with Agency for Non Conventional Energy and Rural Technology (ANERT), Govt. of Kerala, for the supply of 1 kW solar power packs for homes. Another key highlight was the empanelment for mini and micro grid rural electrification by Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI), which is a milestone in itself. The division is accredited by Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE) as a Grade-1 ESCO (Energy Services Company). A 5 MW solar power plant in Tamil Nadu has recently been commissioned.

Bosch Vocational Center (BVC) The Bosch Vocational Center (BVC) at Bangalore offers multiskill training in various industry trades to young students along with all-round development scope. With over 53 years of experience, it has been instrumental in identifying and tapping individual potential of its students, and helped maximize employee contribution towards achievement of organizational goals. Based on the German model of vocational training, BVC follows multi-skilling and hands-on approach. About 20% of the time is used in imparting theoretical knowledge, 30% in practice in the BVC workshop and various labs, and about 50% in real-life production environment in the manufacturing plant.
