Prompt deliveries and high repeatability of product matter in serial production

“We set high standards when it comes to quality and innovation.” has the logistics capability to meet customer needs and can respond flexibly to Meiller’s requirements. Ruukki supplies the steel sheets in the sizes and shapes that Meiller needs – and on time – enabling the company to meet even short-notice requests without a problem. Ruukki also pre-processes its steel sheets and undertakes cutting and bevelling.

F. X. Meiller GmbH Tipper bodies and trailers, Germany Ruukki delivery: Wear-resistant Raex 400 and Raex 450

The old-established firm of F.X. Meiller produces tipper bodies and trailers and is the leading supplier of system solutions to all major vehicle manufacturers.

As a result of their long relationship and continual process optimisation, Meiller has been able to maintain and improve the quality of its products. The two firms also combine to develop new products.

The production of Meiller tippers requires exceptionally large steel sheets, in some cases up to eight metres in length and 20 millimetres thick. Ruukki can supply steel sheets in the widest possible range of sizes and shapes and can individually tailor the sheets it supplies to match customer specifications – even at short notice.

“We set high standards when it comes to quality and innovation. Ruukki meets all these standards and has for many years been a highly-valued partner for the supply of wear-resistant steel. We are very satisfied with our collaboration with Ruukki and will continue to work closely with Ruukki in the future.” says Uwe Meißner, Head of Technology and Production at F.X. Meiller.

Because of their varying sizes and weights, the transportation of steel sheets is a complex task. Ruukki

Exclusive mining machinery and equipment for tough conditions

NPO Automarket Mining LLC Mining dumpers and shovel buckets, Russia Ruukki delivery: Wear-resistant Raex 400

“Raex makes it possible to significantly reduce costs related to the damage of structural parts.”

NPO Automarket Mining LLC specialises in the development and manufacture of mobile mining machinery and equipment. Mining dumpers have to endure heavy loads on all the machine body elements. Such vehicles require tough, hard steel, which results in decreased costs for the replacement of wear-parts. Shovel buckets have same strength requirements. The delivery of all required materials just in time, in the right quantities and right quality is crucial for a smooth-running mining dumper manufacturing process. According to Andrey Klyucharov, Project Manager of Automarket Mining: “Our company chose Raex 400 steel for the dumper bodies and shovel buckets because of the availability of the Ruukki’s service facilities. This simplifies the supply chain, enhances the reliability of deliveries and ensures on-time deliveries.” “In addition, the qualitative characteristics of Raex 400 meet all production requirements of manufacturers. Raex makes it possible to significantly reduce costs related to the damage of structural parts. In addition to its good strength and hardness, Raex steel has also good formability and weldability,” continues Mr. Klyucharov.

Greater capacity, less own weight

“Ruukki also provided us with detailed specifications and instructions for the processing of special steels.”

Manfred Sirch Container engineering and manufacturing company, Germany Ruukki delivery: Wear-resistant Raex 400

Economic pressures and the demand for environmentally sustainable and resource-conserving designs in the fields of construction and waste management, as well as among container manufacturers, are driving the search for appropriate solutions. When it comes to designing hooklift containers, these solutions entail minimising own weights while maximising payloads, lowering operating and fuel costs as well as ensuring long service life.

of approximately 4 liter per 100 km. These savings were realised by using special steels in the Lightbox’s construction and its correspondingly optimised and lighter design. While the floor panels of conventional hooklift containers are generally five millimetres thick, those of the Lightbox are a mere 2.5 millimetres thick. “In the course of designing the Lightbox, our many years of experience with processing wear-resistant steels really paid off. We’ve managed to gain that experience thanks, among other things, to our collaboration with Ruukki,” explains Thomas Krol, CEO of Sirch Behältertechnik. “Ruukki also provided us with detailed specifications and instructions for the processing of special steels, which has simplified and accelerated our project development.”

In the case of the weight-optimised Lightbox – made by Germany’s leading container manufacturer Sirch Apparate- und Behälterbau, Raex 400 wear-resistant steel from Ruukki plays a major ‘supporting’ role. Weighing just 1,780 kg, the new Lightbox boasts 39 cubic metres of volume. Accompanying its lightweight design are its increased load capacity, as well as a reduction in transport fuel consumption

High degree of agricultural machinery

Helti Metal and Trade Ltd has been manufacturing wear parts for ploughs, tillers and cultivators, as well as complete agricultural machinery for 14 years. Agricultural machinery is exposed to continuous wear, which means it is necessary to use proper quality abrasion-resistant materials. For Helti, both high quality and adequate transport conditions were equally important when delivering consignments of wear-resistant steel.

József Garami of Helti clearly stated that “Working with Ruukki has been an excellent partnership. Ruukki provides high-quality materials, offers a good, specialised service and has a competent sales team to help customers”.

Prolonging the lifetime

Excavator buckets manufactured by LLC Professional are designed to operate in environments where ground conditions vary in complexity. The company produces rectangular and trenching buckets, as well as buckets with back slopers and skimming buckets. The more complex the ground conditions, the stronger the steel required to make the edge of bucket.

The use of hard steel grades gives end products high impact strength and wear resistance. This significantly prolongs their useful life, which in turn means lower excavation and earth-moving machine maintenance costs and improved productivity. According to Dmitriy Vorobjev, General Director of Professional LLC: “A good example of Ruukki’s service attitude is that we were given an opportunity to test Raex 400 to convince ourselves of its qualitative properties. We highly appreciated this possibility.”
