Investment Strategies for Retirees A Message from the MEMBERS FINANCIAL SERVICES If you’re retired, it’s essential to brush-up on investing basics and follow time-tested investing principles. For starters, review your portfolio to make sure it’s adequately diversified. As many retirees found out the hard way from 2000 to 2002, how your money is divided among the different types of savings and investments, and among the categories within these main types, is one of your most important investing decisions. So make it a priority to calculate what percentage of cash, bonds, and stocks you have in your portfolio and set your target asset allocation plan. Your target investment mix depends on your financial goals, estimated life expectancy, overall financial situation, and tax bracket. Importantly,

it also depends on your financial ability to withstand losses and how much risk you need to take to meet your goals. Once you diversify your investments, periodically rebalance your portfolio to maintain your target mix and to lock in your gains. For more information about managing your investments in retirement, please contact Sam Davis, the MEMBERS Financial Services Representative serving the members of Credit Union of Georgia, at 678-322-2241. Representatives are registered, securities are sold, and investment advisory services offered through CUNA Brokerage Services, Inc. (CBSI), member NASD/SIPC, a registered broker/dealer and investment advisor, 2000 Heritage Way, Waverly, Iowa 50677, toll-free (866) 5126109. Nondeposit investment and insurance products are not federally insured, involve investment risk, may lose value and are not obligations of or guaranteed by the financial institution. Amendment To Reg CC Affects Georgia Check Holds It was announced in 2004 that the check-processing operations of the Nashville branch office of the Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta would be transferred to the Atlanta Reserve Bank’s head office. The transfer, however, was delayed due to Hurricane Katrina. The transfer has now proceeded. Effective July 21, 2007, Appendix A of Regulation CC has been amended to delete the reference to the Nashville branch office of the Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta and reassign the Federal Reserve routing symbols currently listed under that office to the head office of the Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta. As a result of this change, checks that are drawn on and deposited at financial institutions located in the Nashville and Atlanta check processing regions that currently are non-local checks will become local checks subject to faster availability schedules. Routing numbers that will now become local for Atlanta begin with: 0640, 0641, 0642, 2640, 2641, and 2642. If you have any questions regarding these changes, please contact our MAPS department at 678-486-1111. The

The
