RECOGNITION OF PRIOR LEARNING At Colour Cosmetica Academy we appreciate that you may have skills and knowledge gained through work, life experiences and pervious learning, which may help you complete your course and receive acknowledgement for what you have achieved in the past which may be use to grant status or credit in a subject or unit you may enter into. Please read the information below to get a summary of the ways in which Colour Cosmetica Academy may recognise your previous learning and experience, and the ways in which this recognition can benefit you. It is the policy of Colour Cosmetica Academy to grant RPL, based on prior learning, whether from formal studies or professional work or life experience.

Previous learning and experience may: Be may whether you are on your way from university, school, another educational institution, Registered Training Organisation or the workforce, you may be able to receive up to 100% recognition for your prior achievements. ACE to Colour Cosmetica Academy (Adult and community education) Some ACE courses are recognised as equivalent to Colour Cosmetica Academy Courses. Recognition of Prior Learning or RPL Is the acknowledgement of a person’s skills and knowledge acquired through previous training, work or life experience, which may be used to grant status or credit in a subject or unit?

National Recognition National recognition is the recognition and acceptance by a Registered Training Organisation (RTO) of Australian Qualifications Framework Qualification Parchments and Statements of Attainment issued by another RTO in Australia. Colour Cosmetica Academy accepts Australian Qualifications Framework Qualification Parchments and Statements of Attainment issued by other RTOs. There are no fees for National Recognition.

Credit Transfer Credit transfer is the formal recognition that parts of some courses are equivalent in content and level to parts of others. Colour Cosmetica Academy is yet to establish a formal credit transfer arrangement with higher education providers such as with the university sector, however once established this will be communicated with all staff and students through email correspondence. For the purposes of this policy, the assessment for RPL, will range from student to student, Colour Cosmetica Academy will always consider: 

Life experience



Other Vocational Education Training (VET) provider



Professional body, enterprise, private educational institution, or other similar body



Work experience or other forms of practical experience, including voluntary work



Life experience

1. Colour Cosmetica Academy has a formal process for conducting and recording grants for a student to complete recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) Assessments. 2. All trainees are to be given the opportunity to have their current knowledge, competencies, skills, attitudes and experiences assessed against the module/programme learning outcomes. This process is to be conducted as per the Recognition of Prior Learning (or Recognition of Current Competencies) assessment procedures. 3. Participants with relevant past experiences, education qualifications and acquired expertise may be exempt from undertaking appropriate units of competence.

4. Proof of these qualifications must be provided upon enrolment. If there is any reasonable doubt as to the qualifications or experience, or proof of qualifications cannot be provided, a small eligibility test on the relevant module/unit of competence can be undertaken prior to enrolment. A minimum of 70% must be achieved in the test towards the practical and theory parts; before an exemption can be granted. 5. All students must pay a fee of $150.00 per unit of competences that is being tested for. This must be paid prior the test has been given.

6. Colour Cosmetica Academy ensures that the student and assessor sign all students’ records of (RPL) and a copy is placed in student file and student will receive written confirmation of assessment results, within 7 days of completion. 7. Colour Cosmetica Academy provides grant of RPL to overseas students as well as domestic students following all same procedures. For overseas students all documents and qualifications will need to be certified, and must be in English or translated into English.

8. For students wanting to apply for RPL and to ensure that your application for RPL minimises time and cost please have all relevant documentation , certificates ,forms and any other evidence that may aid you in applying for RPL ready upon enrolment or first interview.
