Introduction This document contains installing information about DriveWindow SP (Service Pack) 0810. This service pack replaces the service packs DriveWindow SP 0701 and DriveOPC SP 0602. This service pack does not replace any DriveWare service packs. So, DriveWare SP 0407 and possibly DriveWare SP 0303 may be additionally required for DriveWare® application programs other than DriveWindow versions 2.20 and 2.21. The Service Pack is distributed as a single executable file (DWSP0810.EXE). It is used to upgrade already installed DriveWindow 2.20 or 2.21 to version 2.22. Upgrading of German and Spanish versions of DriveWindow 2.21 to corresponding 2.22 is included. Some other DriveWare® application programs may benefit from the service pack as well.

Prerequisite In addition of installing DriveWindow SP0810, you need to install DriveWare SP 0303, if: • Your operating system is Windows 2000 or Windows XP, and • You have Drive Debug 2.8, Drive OPC 2.0 or 2.01, Drive AP 1.0, or DriveWindow 2.0 or 2.01 installed, and • You have not installed DriveWare SP 0205 or newer. You may install the service packs in any order as long as you do not use any of the mentioned DriveWare applications between installations.

What is Included in DriveWindow SP 0810 DriveWindow SP 0810 contains most, possibly upgraded, components included in the service packs DriveWare SP 0202, DriveWare SP 0205, DriveWare SP 0303, DriveWare SP 0401, DriveOPC SP 0602, DriveWare SP 0407, and DriveWindow SP 0701, too. However, no driver upgrades and no other program upgrades, except upgrade of DriveWindow 2.20 or 2.21 to version 2.22, are included. Missing are, for example, upgrade of DriveWindow from version 2.0 or 2.01 to 2.02 and from version 2.10 or 2.11 to 2.12. Those upgrades can be done by installing DriveWare SP 0303 (upgrade to 2.02) or DriveWare SP 0407 (upgrade to 2.12). It is not possible to use a service pack to upgrade DriveWindow 2.0x to 2.1x, 2.0x to 2.2x, or 2.1x to 2.2x. However, DriveWindow SP 0810 can be used to upgrade DriveWindow 2.20 or 2.21 (English, German, or Spanish) to 2.22.

2 DriveWindow SP 0810 contains the following: • Communication library for Windows NT, Windows 2000, Windows XP, and Windows Vista. Except under Windows NT, the upgraded communication library supports also the new RUSB-02 USB/DDCS adapter. • Upgrade of DriveOPC COM modules from version 2.0, 2.01, 2.02, 2.03, 2.04, 2.05, 2.06, or 2.07 to 2.08. • Upgrade of DriveWindow 2.20 to 2.22. • Upgrade of DriveWindow 2.21 to 2.22. • Upgrade of DriveWindow 2.21 DE to 2.22 DE. • Upgrade of DriveWindow 2.21 ES to 2.22 ES • Upgrade of all DriveWindow helper COM modules. Much of DriveOPC documentation, but not all, is upgraded. DriveOPC examples are not upgraded. Most, but not all, of DriveWindow 2.20 and 2.21 (DE, ES) documentation is upgraded. Note! Not all of the documentation is updated.

Reasons for Installing DriveWindow SP 0810 In general, you have the following reasons to install DriveWindow SP 0810: • You want to upgrade DriveOPC to version 2.08. • You want to upgrade DriveWindow from version 2.20 or 2.21 to 2.22. • You want to have safer system software restore operation in DriveWindow versions prior 2.21. • You want to use the new RUSB-02 USB/DDCS adapter in any DriveWare® application that uses the DDCS protocol (DriveWindow, DriveAP, DriveDebug, DriveOPC) and your operating system is Windows 2000, XP, or Vista. • You want to be able to run older versions of DriveWare® applications that use the DDCS protocol (DriveWindow, DriveAP, DriveDebug, DriveOPC) in Windows Vista. • You want to have safer system software restore operation in DriveWindow versions prior 2.21. If you have one or more of the following DriveWare® applications installed (even if you already have installed DriveWare SP 0202), you have to install DriveWare SP 0303 (or DriveWare SP 0407): • DriveDebug 2.8 or 2.8 (Rev. B) • DriveAP 1.0 or 1.01 • DriveOPC 2.0, 2.01, 2.02 • DriveWindow 2.0 or 2.01 The reason is that they include Windows NT version of the NISA-03 DDCS/ISA board driver, which is not plug and play compatible. It means that I/O-address conflicts are not detected. Also, their communication library uses the addresses reserved for the NISA-03 even if another device has reserved them. This may cause DriveDebug to crash, for example, even if no NISA-03 is installed.

Compatibility Note! Upgrading of DriveOPC 2.0 may cause compatibility problems in clients. The following bug corrections may cause compatibility problems, if the client program is not robust enough: • Bug 2.00.100.09: Consistency of error code when quality is bad. Bad values read from a device do not return errors any more. The quality is just marked bad. • Bug 2.00.100.17: Enumerated values not starting from one. The lower bound is not always zero any more but is the value corresponding the first string. Also, the value corresponding the first string was always one (other kinds of enumerations were not accepted). In the new release, the lower bound is one in this case.

Required Disk Space In addition to the extra space (max. 10.7 MB) required by the upgraded or new files, the DriveWare SP 0810 installation requires about 100 MB free space on hard disk for temporal files.

Installing DriveWare SP 0810 You should quit all applications before running the executable DWSP0810.EXE. Note! You may need to have Administrator privileges to be able to do the installing. In Windows Vista you have to select Run as administrator when starting DWSP0810.EXE.

Preparing in Windows Vista Copy the executable into you hard disk, into directory C:\Users\Your user ID\Downloads, for example. Start Windows Explorer, browse the file DWSP0810.EXE and click it with the right mouse button. Select Run as administrator from the context menu.

4 Allow Windows Vista to run the program.

Preparing in Other Operating Systems Copy the executable into you hard disk, into directory C:\Windows\Temp, for example, and select Run from the Start menu.

Enter C:\Windows\Temp\DWSP0810.EXE into the Open field of the Run dialog and click OK.

Installing When the Setup program displays an installation confirmation message box, click the Yes button.

Follow the instructions given by the installation program. If you have DriveWindow version, which is older than 2.20, installed, you will get the following or similar message during the service pack installation:

In spite of the message, all components needed by your version of DriveWindow have been upgraded. Just DriveWindow itself and its documents are not upgraded.

Detecting Installation Problems Installation of DriveWindow SP 0810 creates a file named DWInstSP.log into the Windows directory. Logging (tracing) information about the installation is appended in it. In case of installation problems, the file can be used to solve them.

Uninstalling DriveWindow SP 0810 It is not possible to uninstall DriveWindow SP 0810. DriveWindow SP 0810 files are uninstalled, when the upgraded DriveWare® application programs are uninstalled, except possibly one or more of the following files (which you have to delete manually in case you want to uninstall them): • Technical Description of DriveLoaderModule.INI.pdf in DriveWindow installation directory. • DriveWindowUnderWinVista.pdf in DriveWindow installation directory. • Some .jpg-files in subdirectory ReadMe.gif of the DriveWindow installation directory. • ReleaseNotes.pdf in sub-directory DriveOPC under the parent of DriveWindow installation directory. • Tech Note.pdf in sub-directory DriveOPC under the parent of DriveWindow installation directory. • ReleaseNotes.pdf in DriveOPC installation directory. • Tech Note.pdf in DriveOPC installation directory. • DriveOPCUnderWinVista.pdf in DriveOPC installation directory. • DriveLoaderModule.INI in the Windows directory.
