In the Inpatient Unit Dose ‘Order Any Inpt Med’ menu, seen here, type the first few letters of the med to search for it and highlight the desired med to open the order worksheet.

**NOTE: Most drugs are listed by Generic name ONLY. You may use the quick reference in the TOOLS menu > Drug Information Portal for assistance in determining the generic or trade name.

Note: The formulary (list of available medications) in your EHR can be customized. First, always look for the medication you need in its generic and brand name. If you need a medication added, a dose, or a frequency, email Neehr Perfect at [email protected] with the details of what you need added. Turn-around time to make changes or additions to your formulary will vary. We’ll give you an estimate when you send us an email.

Releasing Orders This is the drug order worksheet for INPT Unit dose drugs.

Check here if the order is PRN.

Choose your dose from one or more options here. Some drugs allow you to write in a dose. For the barcoded medication dose, if you write in a dose that is not already listed, the written in dose will be ‘tied’ to the lowest (closest) dose listed in the EHR’s formulary.

Choose the route from one or more of the options listed. You may write in your own route. If the EHR doesn’t recognize the way the route is written, an error box will appear.

Select the desired administration schedule from the list, or choose ‘OTHER’ to create your own schedule. **The drug will only be available to administer in the eMAR when scheduled.

Write instructions or comments here.

Accept the order when done. This window shows a preview of your drug order.

Once the order is signed, Refresh the chart by clicking on File > Refresh Patient Information. Refreshing the chart activates the auto-pharmacist program that is part of the EHR. The auto-pharmacist does the same actions as a live pharmacist in a hospital setting. Once your displays as ‘active’ status, it will be ready to document as administered in the eMAR. **If refreshing the screen does not activate your drug order, please contact [email protected] to report the issue.

Order Actions Actions you can do in orders:

Change Release Event - If an order is not signed, you can change the order’s release event or assign a release event to the order. However, once an order has been signed, you cannot make any changes. Hold - Only active orders may be placed on hold. Orders placed on hold will continue to show under the ACTIVE heading on the profiles until it is removed from hold. An entry is placed in the order’s Activity Log recording the person who placed/removed the order from hold and when the action was taken. Flag - You can flag an order to draw attention to it. When an order is flagged, the order will appear on the Orders tab with a red box in the service column. The order will remain flagged until someone "unflags" the order. CPRS (the EHR) records the name of the person who flagged the order and the date and time that it was flagged. Unflag - You can remove the flag from an order very simply. You can enter a reason for removing the flag, but CPRS does not require you to enter a reason. In the order's detailed display, CPRS will record the name of the person who removed the flag and the date and time that person removed it. Verify - shows that the nurse has seen the order. When a nurse (or student) verifies an order, the nurse's initials are then placed in the appropriate column on the Orders tab.

At any time you can obtain help by clicking on the Help menu.
