25TH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME FROM OUR PASTOR Dear Parishioners, This past weekend we celebrated the funeral for Margaret Mathis, who was a long-time member of the parish. Marge served her community for 38 years as a teacher at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic School, teaching kindergarten and second grade. In her retirement, she was a substitute teacher for a time at Queen of All Saints School. Please pray for her soul and for her family who mourns her loss. This week you should begin to receive via mail the Annual Report for Queen of All Saints Parish. As part of our Stewardship efforts, this report has been prepared and highlights not only our financial position, but also the great investment that so many of our parishioners make in regard to prayer, time, talent and financial commitment. Please know of my deep gratitude to each parishioner for his/her generosity to the parish in so many ways. Queen of All Saints stands today as a great parish because of the sacrifices of so many. This week on Thursday, September 29th, we will host our second Heritage Lunch. At our first luncheon of the year, we welcomed approximately 150 parishioners. If you have not responded yet, please do so to the rectory. We are pleased to welcome as our guest speaker for this month, Mr. Zip Rezeppa. You may have remembered Zip from his time in St. Louis media with his highly creative sportscasts. As Zip progressed on his spiritual journey, he turned his attention to the not-for-profit world. He served as Executive Director of the St. Vincent de Paul Society of St. Louis, Vice President of MERS/Goodwill Industries, and Managing Director of Angels’ Arms, a cutting edge notfor-profit serving foster children. Zip is the Founder and Executive Director of Mater Media whose mission is to evangelize the Catholic Faith by creating, publishing, and distributing inspirational works of Catholic fiction and non-fiction. At the request of Archbishop Carlson, we will have a second collection this weekend for the victims of the flooding in Louisiana. As many as 60,000 homes have been damaged and nearly 20,000 people have been rescued from the flood waters. "I encourage all of the parishes in the archdiocese to respond generously to assist our brothers and sisters," Archbishop Carlson wrote in a letter to parish pastors. The funds will be used to support Catholic Charities' response with food, shelter, and medical care. Many thanks in advance for your generosity. Msgr. Breier

STEWARDSHIP ALIVE

DEACONS SERVING YOU . . . Since A.D. 33! Called by Christ to minister to the people of the Archdiocese of St. Louis, our Deacons are preaching God’s Word to us, praying fervently for us, and caring for us each day. Each year, many men discern that same call and begin the process of formation that, God willing, leads to ordination as Deacons. Deacon formation in the Archdiocese relies heavily on the support of this years Collection. Please support our Diaconate Formation Collection next weekend.

SAVE A LIFE - GIVE BLOOD

LIFE CHAIN SUNDAY, OCTOBER 2ND

Blood is amazing stuff. Did you know that adults have approximately 16 pints of blood in their bodies at any given time? One collection unit of blood is about 1 pint. It takes roughly 4 hours for your body to replace a donated pint of blood. In the U.S. alone, 40,000 units of blood are used each day. Only about 5% of healthy Americans donate blood. Multiple donations account for over 80% of the blood used for transfusions.

On Sunday afternoon, October 2nd, Life Chains will again occupy sidewalks across the United States. Locally we will join St. Francis of Assisi, St. Margaret Mary Alacoque, and other churches from 2:00 - 3:00 p.m. along Telegraph Road. We will stand in unified, prayerful witness on behalf of the voiceless . . . the unborn. Plenty of parking is available at St. Francis of Assisi and signs are provided. This is a PERFECT family activity that takes little time but is a moving experience for all involved. Strollers and lawn chairs are welcome! Following the one hour witness, all are invited to join in the rosary at SFA. If you have any questions, call Jeannine at 565-6085.

There is no substitute for blood. You have the power to help people you may not even know. All it takes is for you to roll up your sleeve and donate a pint of blood. Remember, whole blood and blood products such as platelets can’t be manufactured; they can only be given freely through the compassionate generosity of donors. If you are at least 17 year’s old, weigh at least 110 pounds, and are in general good health, please give the gift of life! QAS Knights of Columbus Blood Drive: Sunday October 9, 2016 8:00 a.m. - 1:30 p.m., in the School Cafeteria For each of the 6 drives in 2016, the KofC is raffling off two $25 St. Louis Bread Company gift cards. All successfully productive donors (Quantity not Sufficient and Deferrals excluded) will be entered into the raffle to be held at the end of each drive. You need not be present to win. The gift cards will be mailed. The Knights hope that this small incentive will both reward our longtime donors while attracting new donors to blood donation on a regular basis. The KofC thanks you for your support of our blood drives. Contact Chris Nelms with the KofC at [email protected] for more information. All blood donated will benefit St. Louis area hospitals, including the exclusive supply to SSM and Cardinal Glennon. Please drink water and eat before donating. Bring your photo ID.
