Quality Standards of Indian Medicinal Plants Description:

This book-set of seven volumes has been brought out by The Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), the apex body in India for formulation, coordination and promotion of biomedical research, established in 1911. The ICMR is funded by the Government of India through the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare. It includes quality standards of 32 medicinal plants, with the work carried out at 4 national research institutions. The book-set contains color photos of plants, their microscopical features and densitograms and TLC/HPTLC/GLC plates, besides numerous botanical illustrations and chemical structures of the phytochemicals. This is an authoritative source for testing methods developed and validated by experts that companies can incorporate in their own testing protocols. Monograph on each plant covers: - Botanical name with authority, synonym, part(s) used, geographical source - Other names of the drugs in different languages - Diagnostic macroscopic and microscopic features with illustrated drawings and colour photographs - Chemical constituents, structure of important phyto constituents. - Chromatographic (HPTLC/TLC/GLC/HPLC) fingerprint profile with reference marker components and their densitograms - Analytical method for quantitative determination of marker component with detailed procedures - Other quantitative standards - Adulterants/substitutes - Pharmacological and clinical studies reported - Therapeutic category - Dosage - Safety aspects - Complete references of the work cited
