QTE feed-in solutions – compact and economical

In many cases, the feed-in quantity for electricity from renewable energy sources is contractually agreed-upon with the power grid operators. In addition, in many countries there are government regulations, such as the EEG in Germany in 2012, according to which the amount of power supplied by facilities must be controllable through a remote control technology. Fulfilling these stipulations requires an efficient controller as a mediator between the inverter and the grid operator.

During periods of strong solar irradiation a photovoltaic plant with a contractually guaranteed peak feed-in volume 80 kW is able to produce up to 120 kW. The QTE feed-in solution will then autonomously throttle back the output of the plant to 80 kW. During the course of the day the power grid voltage will increase to such a level that the network operator must remotely shut down the plant.

QTE feed-in solutions with a self-consumption option – efficient energy management in every situation P [kW]

On a sunny day photovoltaic systems are able to produce electricity to the extent that the power grid operator must switch off the feed. The QTE energy management is able to recognize this situation and within fractions of a second reroute the generated electricity in such a manner that it’s directly usable for own consumption.

t [h] max. feed-in quantity energy generated excess energy is available for the own consumption

Especially photovoltaic and wind power systems can generate more energy peaks on certain days due to weather conditions than they are allowed to according to the contrac tual stipulations. In addition there are remote shutdowns initiated by the power grid operators in order to avoid network overloads. Minimizing the loss of energy and money

in such situations requires the implementation of an efficient energy management. With QTE feed-in solutions these peak outputs are not lost, since they are directly provided to you for your own consumption. Especially for commercial power plant operators this can provide a significant added economical value.

“Competent, efficient, uncomplicated, very easy to use and therefore highly successful.” Hendrik Zedler, Holzwerk Behringen GmbH

QTE Energy Storages – energy feeding in perfection Equipped with state-of-the-art lithium-ion battery cells, the QTE Energy Storage is the ideal enhancement for solar and wind power plants. Through this, during times of high energy yields and a simultaneous network overload, the power can be stored and subsequently dispersed again when it is required. This enables power plant operators to attain the best possible profits and increase the productivity of their power plants during high price timeslots through a targeted concentration of the power grid feed-in.

During an energy peak in the middle of the day, the power grid operator can switch off the feed-in. The QTE energy management is able to recog nize this situation and within fractions of a second reroute the electricity to the QTE Energy Storage. After the energy peak has ended the QTE energy management will route the stored energy into the power grid again.

QTE controllers for hybrid systems – secured energy supply even without a power grid

A hybrid system consists of a wind turbine, a photovoltaic system and a diesel generator. During periods of strong sunlight irradiation the electricity is generated by the photovoltaic system, and during times of heavy winds the QTE controller system seamlessly switches to the wind-powered generator. If neither one of these sources generates electricity, this task will be assumed by the diesel generator.

In many regions the power grid is only poorly developed or there is no power grid at all. Through a combination of various energy sources such as solar, wind, biomass or diesel generators it is possible to provide a safe and especially economically viable energy supply in these types of areas. QTE controllers can be implemented to control such combination power plants, manage the storage of the excess energy and ensure a constant energy supply, for on-grid as well as for off-grid applications. The compact and reliable controller from QTE will ensure an uninterrupted and independent energy supply even if the energy source is frequently switched.

The increasing internationalization of markets and the rapid increase in decentralized energy supply systems are also steadily increasing the requirements towards a “smart” power grid. By cross-linking and controlling various energy sources, power generators, power storage facilities, consumers and network resources, the smart power grid (Smart Grid) is able to facilitate a uniform network utilization as well as an energ y and cost-efficient power supply. Although the transition to the Smart Grid requires a more precise monitoring and controlling of the facilities as well as a common language for the smooth communication bet ween the power plants and your power grid control center. The remote control technology from QTE can speak this language and therefore fully satisfy the requirements and perform the tasks which are demanded by state-of-the-art monitoring and controlling technology. Because the proven industrial control components employ the standardized data transmission protocols IEC 60870-5-101 for the serial transmission and IEC 60870-5-104 for TCP / IP-based communication. These signal-oriented protocols are used to exchange messages, measured values, bit patterns, count er values and (setpoint) commands, both with and without a timestamp, safely and in high-quality between your systems and the power grid control center. –9–

“Everything worked perfectly! A high quality work was performed during the project execution regarding the time, quality and technical aspects, which also included the complete programming.” Christoph Lübcke, BLG Project GmbH

InfoCarrier® EnMS – the optimal solution for commercial entities In many countries the legislative authorities are rapidly advancing the energy-policy turnaround with regulations, financial incentives and government programs. Incentives for businesses are linked to the fulfillment of certain con ditions and statutory obligations. For example, in Germany the utilization of tax reliefs is only possible if the imple mentation and use of an energy management system can be evidenced. No later than 2015 any enhanced entitlement for tax reliefs will be subject to a certification according to ISO 50001 or the execution of the respective audits.

To manage their energy requirements, companies need a suitably dimensioned and yet flexible tool that is able to accurately depict their energy profile and offer the appropriate functionality for the optimization of new strategies. The InfoCarrier ® EnMS IT system was developed to precisely target these issues. The InfoCarrier ® EnMS is based on the well-proven and highly integratable manufacturing execution system (MES) InfoCarrier ®. This enables the InfoCarrier ® EnMS to execute rocksolid evaluations, and it is able to link the actual data with the influencing factors of the complete energy profile of the company, thereby facilitating the identification of energy-saving potentials by means of simple analyses. The InfoCarrier ® EnMS is particularly distinguished by its high ease of use and its superior performance.
