If you’ve forgotten your password, click the Forgot Your Password link to reset the password.

Device Limits You may be asked to name your device during your login. Just put a name of up to 40 characters into the input field and select Save. The names of any previously authorized devices are shown in the dialog.

You may authorize up to four devices to use your individual ProView account. •

When you login to ProView with a device, you will be asked to name that device if you have not



After you have authorized four devices, you can deauthorize one and then add a new device to your

previously authorized it. authorized list. •

After you reach your limit of four devices, you can only deauthorize and then add a new device four times in thirty days.

Using Annotations Annotations are the Bookmarks, Highlights and Notes that you add to your titles. This topic describes how to create, delete, label and place annotations. You can now label annotations with a color and with text so they can be quickly and easily found, searched and filtered. For example, if you worked in the Legal profession and were simultaneously preparing for two cases at the same time, you could choose two different color labels to help distinguish between the two cases.

Using Bookmarks To add a bookmark: 1. Select the Bookmark icon at the top-right of the page. 2. Choose a Color Label for the Bookmark. 3. Optionally, you can add a text description to make it easier to identify the bookmark later. To add a text description, select the area where you see “No Description” and then enter your chosen text. Note: You can create multiple bookmarks for the same page by simply Selecting + and choosing extra labels. The number on the bookmark icon at the top right side of the page indicates how many bookmarks are created for this page.

To edit a bookmark description: 1. Select the bookmark icon. 2. Choose the Color Label you would like to edit. 3. Edit the description and Select Done.

To remove a bookmark: 1. Select the bookmark icon that you wish to remove. 2. Select the Color Label and then select Delete Bookmark.

Using Highlights To add a Highlight: 1. Select the text you wish to highlight. 2. Choose Highlight from the menu. 3. Select a Color Label. The highlight is now created. Note that you can only apply one Color Label to a highlight. 4. You can close the popover, add a note to the highlight, or delete the highlight.

To change the Label Color of a Highlight: 1. Select the highlight you wish to edit. 2. Choose a different Label Color.

To remove a Highlight: 1. Select the highlighted text. 2. Select Delete Highlight. The highlight will then be removed.

Using Notes To add a Note: 1. Touch and hold to select the text where you'd like to add your Note. 2. Choose Add Note. 3. Type your Note and choose a Color Label. 4. Touch Close. A colored highlight will be applied to the selected text and a Note icon will show in the margin. Select either of these to see your Note.

To remove a Note: 1. Select the highlighted text. 2. Select Delete Note.

Using the Annotations Panel The Annotations panel displays all the Bookmarks, Highlights and Notes you have added to a title. Within the panel you can filter and search your annotations by type and/or Color Label.

To open the Annotations Panel: 1. Enter the Reader by opening a title from your Library. 2. In the Library, Select the ’ Precedence error (CAT % DOG) +3 BEAR => Precedence error

Using the Thesaurus For selected titles, you can use the ProView thesaurus to narrow the search scope to specific sections of a book. If your book includes the thesaurus feature, two text boxes are displayed when you tap the Search this Volume icon: Full Text and Thesaurus. You can search by full-text search terms, select thesaurus terms, or both. To use the thesaurus, enter text in the Thesaurus text box. Entries in the thesaurus that match what you have typed are displayed. Tap a word or phrase in the list to add it to your search query and display it in the Thesaurus text box. Tap the Search button or Search key on the keyboard. To add an additional thesaurus selection, tap the plus sign (+) next to the Thesaurus text box. You can add up to three selections from the thesaurus. To remove a thesaurus selection, tap the X in the respective Thesaurus text box. To edit a search that includes thesaurus selections, tap the Modify Search button at the top of the search results list. Tap the X in the Full Text box to clear your search terms. Tap the X in the Thesaurus box to clear your thesaurus selection. This will also clear the highlighted search terms in the book.

Browsing By Search Term You can quickly review the text containing your search terms. Tap the term arrows in the toolbar at the bottom of the screen to view the portions of each page that contain your highlighted search terms. To navigate quickly to previous or subsequent search terms, use a two-finger swipe to jump back (swipe from left to right) or forward (swipe from right to left) by search term.

Using the A-To-Z Index Some titles in your library will have an A-to-Z index that contains index terms and links to specific instances of that term in the title. To use an index, choose the Index icon. The index is displayed on the left side of the content if you are in the landscape orientation or in a popup over the content if you are in the portrait orientation. The index terms are displayed under headings next to an alphabetical list that allows you to navigate through the index. When you select a link, the chosen page will be displayed. In Portrait orientation the popup will close but you can re-open it and return to the same location in the index just by selecting the Index icon. Also in Portrait orientation, you can see a short preview of the content that is being linked to by clicking on the Eye icon.

Create and Share PDFs You can create PDFs of content in your ProView titles. Once the PDFs are created, you can view and share (email, print, save, etc.) them in a variety of ways depending on the capabilities of the platform that you’re using ProView on.

To create a PDF: 1. When you are viewing a document, select the Share icon on the top bar of the reader. 2. You’ll see three choices for the content of the PDF o Selected Text – The PDF contents will be text that is currently selected. o

Current View – The PDF contents will be what you see in the reader window plus any material

o

you can see by scrolling down. Current TOC Section – The PDF contents will be the text from the TOC section that you are viewing. The Section name is displayed in the gray area below “Current TOC Section.”

3. Select one of the checkboxes. 4. Select the Next button. You will see a message that the PDF is being created. When the PDF is ready you will see a message: “PDF Ready”. Depending on the platform you’re using ProView on, different things can happen. •

iPad – The file will be downloaded and displayed using an iOS-provided full-screen preview. This preview provides an Options menu for sharing the PDF. The PDF is accessible until you tap the Back button in the Share PDF popover to select another check box or dismiss the popover by tapping the Close button or tapping away.



Windows Desktop, Mac desktop and Android tablets – The file will be downloaded and you will be presented with an option to open the PDF with the default PDF reader on your machine. If you do not have a PDF reader installed, you must first install one to view the downloaded PDF.



Browsers – Windows: When the PDF is ready, it will be downloaded according to the download settings in your browser. Mac OS: When the PDF is ready it will be downloaded according to the download settings in your browser settings.

Recent Activity Area

At the top of your library is the Recent Activity area which includes • • •

On the left side, a rotating list of Quick Tips for using ProView. You can display a new tip by choosing the Refresh icon. New user information is displayed on the right side the first time you use ProView. After your first use, covers and title information for your most recently read titles, starting with the most recently read title are displayed on the right side. You can scroll to the right to see more previously read titles.

The Recent Activity area can be contracted or expanded using the ^ icon in the upper right hand corner of the area.

Title Information Area All the titles you have purchased are displayed in the area below Recent Activity, whether you have downloaded them or not. Library Label – At the top of the library there is a line of tools for viewing and filtering your library. On the left you’ll see a "Library" label unless you have eReference titles in your library. If you only have eReference titles in your library you will see the following label and your library will be sorted in subject order:

If you have eReference titles and non-eReference titles, you will the label below. You can filter your library to show all books by choosing "Full Library" or only eReference titles by choosing "eREFERENCE."

Library Views Using the icons after Library, you can choose to view your title in either the grid or list view. Grid View - In the Grid view, the information about your titles is displayed on cards. In the Grid view you’ll see different types of cards for individual titles and for periodicals. List View - In the List View, each title’s information is on a horizontal area across the library. The same information for a title is displayed in in List view. In both views you have the ability to find more information about the individual title or the periodical. If you choose the I icon on the group card or line in list view, you will see a pane slide in from the right with more details. Sorting the Library View – You can sort the library view using the "Sort by" dropdown next to the Library View icons.

Actions You Can Take In Your Library Downloading a Title Users can download a title by choosing “Download Title” or the download icon. The progress bar tracks the download and the download in progress is mirrored on the “main” card in the Library area. Users can cancel the download by choosing Cancel Download or by choosing the title’s card during the download. An action/dialog box is displayed allowing you to cancel the download or continue.

Sorting Your Library By default, books in your library are sorted alphabetically by title. To change how your library is organized, click the Sort button at the top of the page and choose one of the following:



Title



Type (publisher-defined)



Publisher



Jurisdiction



Subject (publisher defined)

Ownership (whether the book is owned or is a library book) Recently Read (not available on the browser)

Searching the Titles in Your Library While viewing your library, tap the Search icon ( ) at the top right of the library area to display the pane where you can Search and Filter your library. A pane slides over the library from the right.

To search, type your query in the “Search Keywords” entry box. While the search is running, titles will begin to be displayed in the library area, ranked by the number of times the search term is found in each title.

Under “Library” you’ll now see the word “Results” followed by the number of titles that include the search term is found in. That number is followed by a tag or tags containing each search term used. To remove a search term, just click the X in the tag and the search will be rerun or the full library will be displayed if no search terms remain. The number of times the search term is found in a tile is displayed on each title. To see where those search terms occur, choose a title to open it. The search will be rerun in the title and a list of the sections and subsections in the book where your search term occurred is displayed in the left hand pane. You can drill down to individual instances of search term by tapping the arrow in the right margin of sections and subsections until your search terms is displayed within snippets of text. Tap the snippet to display the book page with your search terms highlighted. Choose the Search icon to close the Search and Filter pane.

Filtering Your Titles If you have a large number of titles in your library, you may want to narrow down the list of titles displayed by filtering according to title type or by other characteristics of the title. Filtering Titles by Type. You can choose to display titles of only one type using the Types of Titles dropdown on the Search pane. The available types are: •

Books



Periodicals

eReference Imports

When you choose a type, the filter is applied immediately. On the Results line you will see a tag with the name of the filter that is applied. You can filter by type after you do a search to reduce the number of titles displayed.

Filtering Your Library Using Other Characteristics By default, all of the books in your library are displayed. To narrow the list of titles that are displayed in the library, select one of the following under the Filter By heading in the Search pane and choose a value in the dropdown: •

Jurisdiction – Displays the selected jurisdiction



Publisher – Displays only the selected publisher

• •

Subject – Displays books with the selected, publisher-defined subject Ownership – Displays books that are owned, not loaned from a library

Choose the Search icon to close the Search and Filter pane.
