Welcome to the 2016-2017 Edition of the Augusta Health Provider Directory. Included is a listing by specialty for all providers affiliated with Augusta Health. We trust this will be useful in finding new providers and specialists, identifying practice locations and determining contact information for members of the Augusta Medical Staff. Providers join our staff at all times of the year, so please check the Augusta Health website (https://www.augustahealth. com/physician-directory) for the most up-to-date provider roster. Augusta Health continues to grow and expand the scope of services we provide in an ongoing effort to fulfill our mission to be the best community hospital in Virginia. In 2016, Augusta Health brought five new cardiologists onto the medical staff, greatly expanding our ability to provide inpatient and office-based cardiology services throughout the southern Shenandoah Valley. The Intensive Care Unit at Augusta Health is being renovated and expanded to care for fourteen patients, and the 3 East nursing unit has been recently renovated as well. Finally, in 2017, Augusta Health will begin construction of a new Emergency Department in order to better serve the citizens of our region. The staff, physicians, advanced practice professionals and leadership of Augusta Health are all excited about the future and our role in improving the health of our community. We look forward to working with you in that endeavor. The physicians and staff at Augusta Health, a nonprofit, independent community hospital—through their commitment, expertise and dedication to their patients—have earned recognition as one of the best hospitals in the nation. Named a 100 Top Hospital by Thomson Reuters/Truven in both 2011 and 2012, Augusta Health placed at the top for both clinical and operational excellence. The health system was also an Everest Award winner both years, recognizing high achievement within the 100 Top winners. Augusta Health has also been nationally recognized by Healthgrades as one of America’s 100 Best Hospitals for clinical excellence and patient safety for 2012 to 2014, and has been named one of America’s 50 Best Hospitals in 2015 and 2016. Augusta Health’s life-saving Interventional Cardiology program works with emergency service providers to achieve an average door-to-balloon time of about 42 minutes, well under the national standard of 90 minutes. The Augusta Health Cancer Program is an affiliate of the Duke Health Network, and its equipment includes an Elekta Infinity Radiation Treatment system. New advances in lung cancer screening and detection work hard to diagnose the disease early, when it’s more treatable. It also conducts clinical trials—bringing tomorrow’s treatments to the community today—and examines complex cases through a multidisciplinary Tumor Board. Augusta Health has a comprehensive occupational medicine program, Workplace Wellness, led by a Board-Certified Occupational Health physician and team to meet the needs of the business and industry community—both onsite at their location and at the hospital campus. The new Augusta Health Joint Center has redesigned joint replacement surgery for hips and knees, improving patient outcomes and satisfaction simultaneously. Augusta Health’s services reach well beyond the walls of its 255 bed hospital. Its community-based facilities include primary care physician offices, laboratories, imaging centers, Urgent Care Centers in Staunton, Waynesboro, Weyers Cave and Stuarts Draft and a Convenient Care Clinic in Crozet. Augusta Health’s hospital-based services provide the medical and preventive care required by a thriving community—surgical services, emergency services, rehabilitation services, behavioral health services, wellness screenings, durable medical equipment, laboratory and imaging services.
