Overview Features This software allows you to manage multiple projectors from a single computer and control them from a remote location. The projectors can be turned on and off automatically at a prespecified time.

• Even if the above requirements are met, operation is not guaranteed on all computers. • Proper operation may not be possible if firewalls or security software are installed.

Installing and Uninstalling the Software Install the software on your computer beforehand as follows. Note

We recommend the following environment when using this software.

Log in using an administrator account to perform installation.

Supported OS

Extract the zip file downloaded from the website.

Double-click the “PJS_NWControl_vXXX.exe” file (XXX is the version number).

Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition / Professional Service Pack 3 or later, Windows Vista Home Basic / Home Premium / Business / Enterprise / Ultimate Service Pack 2 or later, Windows 7 Home Basic / Home Premium / Professional / Enterprise / Ultimate Service Pack 1 or later

If the [User Account Control] screen appears in Windows Vista or Windows 7, click [Yes].

Select the language to use during installation. The installer starts. Follow the instructions on the screen to perform installation.

* 32-bit and 64-bit editions are supported for the Windows Vista and Windows 7 series.

Note

When using a 64-bit operating system, use the 32-bit compatibility mode.

Computer

Be sure to read the “End User License Agreement” that appears during installation. You can only perform installation if you agree to the terms.

A computer that meets the requirements of one of the Windows systems.

Uninstalling the software Quit the software before uninstalling.

Network

For Windows XP

The computer must be connected to the network to which the projectors are connected via a LAN cable. This software and the projectors support only IPv4.

Note

The [Start] menu appears.

Restart this software whenever you change the network settings.

Overview

Click [Control Panel] in the [Start] menu. The [Control Panel] screen appears.

Click the [Start] button.

Double-click [Add or remove programs]. The [Add/Remove Programs Properties] dialog box appears.

Select [Projector Station for Network Control] from the list box, and click [Remove].

Operations

Uninstallation starts. Follow the instructions on the screen to complete uninstallation. For Windows Vista and Windows 7

Click the [Start] button. The [Start] menu appears.

Click [Control Panel] in the [Start] menu.

• This software may not function properly is if it is running on multiple computers or if multiple instances of the software are running on a single computer. • The screenshots used in the explanations are examples and may differ from the actual screen displays.

The [Control Panel] screen appears.

Software Settings Click [Uninstall a program] under [Programs]. The [Uninstall or change a program] dialog box appears.

Select [Projector Station for Network Control] from the list box, and click [Uninstall]. Uninstallation starts. Follow the instructions on the screen to complete uninstallation.

Configure the software settings.

The [Settings] dialog box appears.

The maximum numbers of projectors and groups that can be registered with this software are as follows. Number of projectors that can be registered: 256 Number of groups that can be registered: 16 Number of projectors that can be registered in one group: 128

Click the [Update Interval] tab, and specify the interval at which to update the projector’s status display. The default setting for the update interval is 60 seconds.

Projectors This software is intended for use with network-compatible projectors. The requirements for projectors that can be managed by this software are as follows. • The projectors must be connected to the network via wired LAN. Wireless LAN is not supported. • Use static IP addresses for the projectors. Communication may not be possible if the IP addresses change. • Enable the SDAP or SDCP setting on the projector. For details on this setting, see “Configuring the SDCP/ SDAP Settings on the Projector” (page 9). • Specify IP addresses that are on the same subnet as the computer. • Specify the same SDCP/SDAP port numbers and community name as the software (page 5).

Select [Settings] in the [Config] menu.

Click the [PJTalk] tab, and specify the port numbers and community to use for communication with the projectors. Specify the same port numbers and community name as the projectors. Clicking [Restore Defaults] returns the configurations to the following default settings. Port for SDCP: 53484 Port for SDAP: 53862 Community: SONY

Notes

• The maximum number of registrations may not be possible depending on your operating environment. • Operation is not guaranteed for all projectors that meet the above requirements.

The search begins, and when the projector is found, a registration confirmation dialog box appears. Verify the content, and click the [OK] button. The projector appears in the [Projectors] list of the [Edit Groups] dialog box.

Registering Projectors Detect projectors to be managed by this software and register them into groups. Be sure to register projectors into groups. Projectors that are not registered into groups cannot be managed by this software.

Detecting and registering projectors

In the main window, select [Edit Groups] in the [Config] menu. The [Edit Groups] dialog box appears. The software detects projectors automatically, and displays them in the [Projectors] list. If projectors do not appear in the list, you can search for them by IP address.

Specify the IP address and protocol, and click the [Search] button.

Registering projectors into groups You can separate and register the projectors into multiple groups.

Click the [Add] button at the bottom of the [Groups] list in the [Edit Groups] dialog box.

Enter a group name in the dialog box that appears, and click the [OK] button. You can enter up to 32 characters for the group name. You cannot enter a group name that has already been registered. The new group is added to the [Groups] list.

In the [Groups] list, select the group to which you want to add a projector.

Select the projector in the [Projectors] list, and click the [] button. To delete a group Select the group in the [Groups] list, and click the [Delete] button under the [Groups] list. Note

When you delete a group, its related schedule tasks will also be deleted.

For details on errors, see “Errors” (page 9).

To delete a projector Select the projector in the [Projectors] list, and click the [Delete] button under the [Projectors] list.

To update to the most recent status Click the button, or select [Update] in the [Config] menu.

Saving registered information to a profile You can save registrations of hosts and groups to a profile. You can create multiple profiles to be used according to the situation, or copy a profile to another computer and restore the registered information on that computer. Schedule tasks (page 7) will also be saved to a profile. Task histories for schedule tasks will not be saved to the profile.

Remote Control of the Projector You can turn projectors ON/OFF or switch the inputs for projectors.

When turning projectors ON/OFF, you can select a group or a projector. When switching inputs, you can only select a projector.

To save a profile In the main window, select [Save] or [Save As] in the [File] menu. To load a profile In the main window, select [Open] in the [File] menu and select the profile.

Projector Status

Select the group or projector you want to control in the [Groups] list.

Click a power or input button under [Commands]. The selected command is executed on the target projectors. To view the execution status, click the button and update the display.

The operation status of registered projectors is displayed in the main window. The display is updated at the interval configured in the [Settings] dialog box.

Creating a Schedule The following items are displayed. • Model (setting configured on the projector) • Location (setting configured on the projector)

You can create a schedule for turning projectors ON/OFF that will be executed automatically. You can register up to 256 tasks to the schedule.

Select [Schedule Tasks] in the [Config] menu. The [Schedule Tasks] dialog box appears.

Click the [Add] button. The [Task Detail] dialog box appears.

Create the schedule task in the dialog box.

Name: Specify the name of the schedule task. You cannot use a task name that has already been registered. Description: Enter a comment. Target: Click [Group] or [Projector], and select the name of the target group or projector. Command: Select [Power On] or [Power Off]. Start Time: Specify the time at which to execute the task. In addition, specify whether to execute the task everyday or only on the specific days. Schedule: Tasks for which this checkbox is selected will be executed.

When you are finished configuring tasks, click the [OK] button to close the dialog box.

The registered schedule tasks will be saved to the profile.

Notes

• Schedule tasks will not be executed when this software is not running. • Schedule tasks may not execute properly when the computer is in sleep or standby mode. Configure your computer so that it does not enter sleep/standby mode. • Schedule tasks are executed according to the clock on your computer. Therefore, configure the clock on the computer so that it is accurate.

Errors If an error is displayed in a projector’s operation status, verify its meaning in the following table. Error display

The projector cannot be detected on the network.

Lamp

A lamp error has occurred.

Lamp1

An error has occurred with Lamp 1.

Lamp2

An error has occurred with Lamp 2.

All Lamps

An error has occurred with all lamps.

Fan

A fan error has occurred.

Cover

A lamp cover error has occurred.

Temperature

The power has been turned off due to internal overheating of the projector.

D5V

A power supply error has occurred.

Power

A power supply error has occurred.

Warning Temperature

The internal temperature of the projector is high.

Lens Shutter

A lens shutter error has occurred.

Warning Highland

The internal temperature of the projector is high. Check the high altitude settings.

Lamp Switching

A lamp switching error has occurred.

The screenshots used in the explanations are examples and may differ from the actual screen displays.

Access the control screen of the projector using a web browser, and open the [Setup] page. For details on accessing the control screen, refer to the operating instructions for the projector.

Configure the SDAP and community settings. Select the [Start Advertisement Service] checkbox in the [Advertisement] menu. Specify the [Community] and [Port for SDAP] values specified for this software (page 5) in [Community] and [Port No.].

Configure the SDCP and community settings. Select the [Start PJ Talk Service] checkbox in the [PJ Talk] menu. Specify the [Community] and [Port for SDCP] values specified for this software (page 5) in [Community] and [Port No.].

Note

By specifying an IP address in [Host Address], you can restrict access to projectors from addresses other than the one specified. We recommend restricting access to ensure secure controls.
