With DEVI underfloor heating you don’t need walls to hang radiators on; it’s a ‘dry’ heating system with no risk of leaks, freezing pipes or maintenance of moving parts, pipes and boilers. Heat distribution from underfloor heating is spread evenly without creating cold spots. Applecross, New Fields, Inverleith
Fields of Comfort New Fields in Inverleith, Scotland is a development of 14 luxury, threebedroom apartments and two penthouses by award-winning housebuilder Applecross. Using the best materials and latest technologies throughout, DEVI underfloor heating was the natural choice for both interior and exterior use. Applecross regularly uses DEVI products and within the two buildings at New Fields, employed the devimat system to warm the floor tiles in a total of 60 cloakrooms, en-suites and bathrooms. This system combines heating cables and tape lanes to form a mat that can easily be rolled out on the floor, saving an estimated 70% of installation time compared with other cable systems. Externally, deviflex DSIA with armour cable is used to heat the driveways to the secure underground parking areas, preventing any danger from black ice. The cables are linked to a devireg 810 electronic control unit which uses ground sensors to monitor conditions. Craig Hall, Marketing Director at Applecross, comments: “We used the DEVI systems for the heated driveways at New Fields because they add value, providing the levels of comfort and security that our purchasers expect. Redrow Homes, Neptune Marina, Ipswich
The high specification apartments of Redrow’s new Neptune Marina development, situated on the waterfront in Ipswich, Suffolk, epitomise modern living and boast the luxury of DEVI electric underfloor heating. DEVI was involved early on in the project and was responsible for the design, manufacture, supply and installation of the direct-acting underfloor heating system, the cables of which were laid within the screed during construction. DEVI worked with Eastern Electricity to make the heating at Neptune Marina as economic as possible for end users; as a result, the system runs on an 18 hour off-peak tariff. The system is automatically switched off three times a day for two hours but, as there is enough heat retained in the thermal mass of the screed, this has no effect on the overall temperature of the apartments. As a result, it is essentially a direct acting system while at the same time offering considerable savings in running costs. Dandara has earned a reputation for the provision of high quality homes. The installation of DEVI underfloor heating at The Lock Building in Manchester meant that radiators could be dispensed with to achieve both maximum space and a clean, unobstructed look. Electric underfloor heating is maintenance-free and also offers more comfortable warmth than alternative radiator systems. deviflex DSIG-20 cables were used at The Lock Building in conjunction with devireg 710 and devireg 550 thermostats. Thanks to optimal thermal positioning in the screed and a precise temperature control system, the average room temperature can be reduced by 1-2°C, compared with traditional radiator heating, without influencing the thermal comfort level. This means that the energy loss can be reduced up to 10-20%, which is both economically and environmentally beneficial. Mike Hitchmough, Principal Architect, Dandara, comments: “Underfloor heating aligned itself with the quality and uncluttered environment that we were seeking. We were also looking for a system where the initial capital cost met our budget and avoided any ongoing maintenance and reliability issues.”

There’s a warm welcome waiting at property developer St James Group’s luxury Kew Riverside development in London. The 388 apartments overlooking the Thames are equipped with flexible, efficient DEVI electric underfloor heating. “Underfloor heating is integral to our design for luxury living at Kew Riverside,” says Baber Malik, Project Manager at the St James Group, which is part of the Berkeley Group. “Having no radiators frees up rooms, creating visually impressive living areas and ensures a much more efficient use of space.” DEVI was chosen because of the company’s well-established reputation in the marketplace. What impressed St James wasn’t just the quality and reliability of DEVI’s underfloor heating but also the company’s friendly and efficient approach. “We ask questions and they get answered quickly. Looking for an unobtrusive, efficient and upmarket heating solution, Thomas Homes opted for DEVI electric underfloor heating at the Donnington Elms development of nine apartments in the village of Donnington in Newbury, Berkshire. Thomas Homes had previous experience of wet underfloor systems but these had proved problematic. The DEVI electric system offered a cost effective alternative with the benefit of easy installation. Ideally suited to an upmarket development, DEVI electric underfloor heating provides even heat without cold spots, is warm underfoot and prevents the restrictions on interior design imposed by unsightly and inconveniently placed radiators or panel heaters. DEVI manufactured, designed and installed the direct acting system at Donnington Elms using deviflex DSIG 20 cables laid into the screed. The systems are controlled by devireg 550 “intelligent” thermostats which combine the functions of timer and thermostat and will calculate when to turn on the system to ensure the right temperature at the right time. T P Estates, Downderry Apartments, Cornwall
Warming the shores of Cornwall Overlooking the beautiful waters of Whitsand Bay at Downderry on Cornwall’s southern coast, Celtic Shores is a development by TP Estates of 12 two-bedroom apartments and two stunning, three-bedroom penthouses. The luxury specification was enhanced with the installation of DEVI electric underfloor heating throughout, following the developer’s successful use of the product on previous projects. The electric underfloor heating system at Celtic Shores was designed, manufactured and installed by DEVI. The cables are laid within the floor which comprises 15mm T&G prefinished hardwood flooring laid on 18mm T&G flooring grade chipboard on 45mm x 45mm s/w timber battens, laid loose on 25mm mineral wood resilient layer on 165mm concrete holorib floor. The devireg 550 thermostats calculate when the heat must be turned on to have it reach the right temperature at the required time within each of the 960 to 1,300 sqft apartments.

DEVI electric underfloor heating heats the voids between the joists while insulation drives the heat upwards so it dissipates through the floor to give even coverage.
