Night over Berlin

TV MOVIE | 2 X 90‘

EVENT MOVIE | 105‘

THE DISPOSABLE GIRL Charlotte Lindholm is called into action following the discovery of a corpse in a Hanoverian incineration plant. Things come to a head for Charlotte when a further attack on the life of her crown witness, Larissa, takes place. The trap that she put into place for the wanted biker appears to work: Lindholm succeeds in fi nding him and forces him into a corner - but has she really been following the real culprit?

The tragic love story of two unusual people against the backdrop of the historically signifi cant events that lead to Hitler‘s seizure of power constitute the main focus of the TV drama „Night over Berlin: The Reichstag Inferno“.

THE GOLDEN BAND A few weeks after the arrest of the murderer of a young girl forced into prostitution, the culprit is himself the victim of manslaughter within prison walls. Charlotte Lindholm shows great interest in the reasons behind the attack, as she believes it will enable her to reopen investigations into her old case, which ended unsatisfactorily for her. At that time, several „gentlemen“ in high society circles enjoyed the company of young girls, who were severely beaten and subsequently disposed of. However, evidence is scarce and to be able to get to the prominent backers, Charlotte Lindholm has to personally venture into unfamiliar territory to solve the case.

Afghanistan: A fatal decision DOCUDRAMA | 90‘

War has been described as a manifestation of death and destruction, an exhibit of all negativities of life. This is also how we can describe the situation in Kunduz, a province of Afghanistan and a very sad and recent chapter in history. Involving many NATO and non-NATO nations. it is an international responsibility. It is a war, in which it is almost impossible to tell friend from foe. This is a story of grief, of suffering - and of mistrust. A story of the belief in a cause. Of belief in a mission. A mission in Kunduz.

The pressure of having to give birth to a boy is an enormous burden on Afghan women. Without a boy, a family is not only socially ostracised, but above all, it also has to fear major economic disadvantages. Only boys are permitted to help out in companies, only boys are sent to the bazaar for the shopping and accompany their sisters, who are not allowed to leave their homes on their own. It’s a very old tradition for families without sons to dress one or two of their daughters as boys. They are called “Bacha Posh”.

Patients often suffer with cognitive disorders after major surgery. Postoperative syndrome is what doctors call acute states of confusion following large-scale operations. This report accompanies a heart patient and a cancer patient after an operation.

Civil war in Syria has already claimed the lives of more than 60,000 people. The prospect that there will soon be an end to the murdering is bad. “Assad listens to no one”, suggests Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov when describing his experiences with the Syrian president. The former UN negotiator Kofi Annan, who attempted to mediate between the fronts for several months, always had the feeling that “Assad will not accept reality”. At the same time, Annan makes the USA and the Syrian opposition jointly responsible for the disaster: “Those calling for Assad to resign as a precondition for talks make negotiations impossible”.

No foodstuff has such a poor reputation as fat: It not only makes you fat, it blocks blood vessels and causes extremely dangerous cardiovascular diseases. The food industry has long used consumer‘s fear of unhealthy food and turns over billions with apparently „low fat“ products, which are - to all intents and purposes - healthy.

Sugar consumption in Germany is constantly increasing: currently, Germans consume pro capita more than 34 kilogrammes of sugar annually. But, what are the consequences? Is sugar addictive and can it lead to illness, as many scientists now believe? How dangerous is sugar?

Our world’s drinking water is contaminated. Over the decades pesticides, medical residues and chemicals have reached a level which, according to the newest research and experts, is directly harming those who drink it.

Why has coffee become so cheap? Are the workers on the coffee plantations victims of cheap consumption? Are more pesticides being used than the consumer would care to know about? What does the use of chemicals really mean for the workers, the consumer and the environment?

Reformed meat, analogue cheese and other food scandals have come and gone, but none of these troubled the pizza. The reporters follow the trail of the raw materials, hundreds of thousands of tons of which are imported annually by pizza producers and document the inhumane and degrading working conditions during the tomato harvest.

Walburga Reichert, a high-ranking scientologist, was found dead in 2006. But why should she commit suicide? What caused the numerous head wounds that the coroner found during the autopsy? Injuries? Neglect? Did she want to leave the sect? This documentary traces the rise and fall of the scientologist.
