Organized International Symposium and 5th Annual Conference of Indian Association of Veterinary Public Health Specialists on "New Strategies for prevention and control of Emerging and Reemerging Zoonoses : an Integrated Veterinary and Medical Approach" in the department from 12th -14th October 2006,at Palampur-176 062 (HP), India. 2. Trained around 1800 farmers/ Veterinarians/Agriculture officers/Tech staff/ SSB Trainees of the State/Country for clean milk production and transmission of zoonotic diseases and its prevention and control in collaboration with the Directorate of Extension Education CSK-HPKV, Palampur. 3. Initiated and prepared course outlines for the starting of Post Graduate Programme in the Department, which has started from the Academic Year 2007-2008. 4. Prepared an approach paper on “Establishment of a Referral Laboratory as group leader for testing the products of Animal Origin according to the SPS and ISO Standards”. 5. Started a college reading room in the Veterinary College in the Year 1996 for the students/staff of COVAS as National Service Scheme Programme Officer. 6. Bacteriological and Parasitic Examination of water samples in North-Western Himalayas. 2. Bacteriological examination of Air quality in North-Western Himalayas in different periods of the year. 3. Bacteriological and parasitic examination of soil in North-Western Himalayas and its Public Health Significance. 4. Invitro sensitivity of neem (Azardirachta indica) oil, turmeric (Curcuma longa) powder and clove (Syzygium aromaticum) oil against common pathogenic microorganisms. 5. Prevalence of Brucellosis in Spiti horses/Domesticated Animals in North-Western Himalyas. 6. Preliminary work on isolation of food poisoning organisms (Staphylococcal) from the raw milk samples in and around Palampur and its sensitivity to different antibiotics. 7. Preliminary work on isolation of food poisoning organisms from the raw meat samples in and around Palampur revealed the presence of pathogenic Staphylococcus, Streptococcus, Salmonella etc..

8. Evaluation of the antibacterial and bactericidal effect of certain herbal products are also continuing. 9. Antibiotic sensitivity of Escherichia coli isolated from water samples. 10. Preliminary research work is going on the health hazards due to use of cow urine and Biosol in organic Agriculture. 11. Microbial and parasitic quality evaluation of raw ready to eat organic vegetables /products. 12. Preliminary work on isolation of food borne/ poisoning organisms from the ready to eat foods of animal origin in and around Palampur . 13. Assessment of parasitic contamination of ready to eat vegetables, salads, green leaves from local house holds and markets in and around Palampur. 14. Detection of parasites of zoonotic importance from feces of stray animals in and around Palampur which may be a potential public health threat. 15. Soil from play grounds of schools both Govt. and Private were processed for presence of parasites of zoonotic significance 16. An experiment was undertaken to observe the effect of Homa on the load of pathogenic microorganisms in air in Homa and Non Homa environment in CSK-HPKV in collaboration with the department of organic farming.
