We continue to develop next-generation machinery - constantly refining our world-famous range of Power Arms with the latest technology and introducing exciting new products such as TwinCut – the world’s first dual rotor flailhead and POWERBOOST – an intelligent hydraulics system which increases arm extension speeds by three times. McConnel is proud to fly the flag as one of Britain’s truly successful manufacturing companies, and is going from strength to strength with record sales and exports to more than 40 different countries. We have ambitious plans for the future and are making a huge investment to expand and improve our capacity and further improve the quality of our products. We’re also investing in people offering scholarships and apprenticeships to the next generation of technicians, designers and engineers.

McConnel’s newest Power Arm series has been tailor made for contractors seeking both performance and value - featuring powerful 65-hp hydraulics, an advanced feature set and a choice of four different reach sizes from 5.5m to 7.0m.
The world’s first dual-rotor flailhead, TwinCut delivers a heavy-duty cut and a fine finish in a single-pass. TwinCut’s unique double cutting action saves time, cuts fuel costs, and increases the amount of work that can be done in a day.
McConnel’s new high-performance Seedaerator helps farmers and contractors reap all the benefits of the strip till drilling – improving soil structure, lowering costs and delivering sustainable intensive farming without damaging the environment.
Available in 2.5m, 2.7m and 3.0m working widths, the Profi Mega is McConnel’s most powerful flail mower. The machine is capable of cutting through vegetation up to 80cm thick and is ideal for fast, effective mulching in dense overgrowth and thick stubble.

Next-generation intelligent hydraulic systems which increase arm extension speeds by more than three times the norm. POWERMATCH also adds increases durability by automatically adjusting to any tractor PTO input speed from 540 to 1000rpm, enabling tractors to run at optimal engine revs for maximum efficiency.
McConnel’s new Shakaerator classic series offers robust build quality, hydraulically folding wings, and outstanding deep soil conditioning at a great price. Available in 4.0m and 5.0m working widths, the Classic models are ideal for farmers looking for performance and value.
A high-performance rotary mower designed for fineturf applications such as golf-courses, parks and urban green areas, the Stripe Mower delivers an attractive finish that makes it ideal for the amenities and groundcare sectors.
The new Telescopic-Variable Forward Reach arm takes the comfort and control offered by McConnel’s proven VFR technology and combines these qualities with the versatility of a 1.0m telescopic extension.

Sub-Frame Conversion Kit
Power Arms that can be upgraded to axle mounting 3. Raise hydraulic arms to engage legs of yoke with hedgecutter frame, slide along until adjustable stops are reached and secure. To remove: Ensure flailhead is to the rear and resting on the ground. Extend parking stands and withdraw latch locking pins, raise hydraulics and remove top link. Pull cords to release latches and lower machine onto parking stands. If desired, remove latch assemblies from tractor.

3. Lift machinery until mounting arms engage in latches, insert locking pins.
4. Continue lifting machine until frame is level, then attach top link.
5. Lower linkage arms until the weight of the PA is evenly distributed across the top link, linkage arms & axle brackets.

With readings taken every 30 milliseconds, pressure in the lift rams is altered very rapidly so the flailhead does not bounce over ground contours. As a result, the Power Arm can be operated at higher speeds when verge mowing. The proportional control system is housed inside an ergonomically designed armrest and sends ‘digital’ signals down a 4-wire Canbus loom to operate all the machines solenoid functions including electronic rotor control. This replaces the more conventional wiring looms Sensors are built into the machine mainframe near the centre of the machine and are therefore away from the harsh working environment of the flailhead. There are no additional pivots, bushes, linkages, springs or additional weight added to the arm or flailhead (A sensor is fitted to the main arm pivot pin at the mainframe, and pressure sensor in the lift ram).

Dual rotor rotation can be controlled from the tractor seat via cable control lever or from the electric controls if applicable.
When using cable rotor controls the user can change the direction of the rotor manually. Push the lever forward for upward cutting and back for downward cutting.

Upward Cutting Power Arms with totally independent hydraulic systems are fitted with dual rotor rotation as standard. This allows the rotor to spin clockwise for upward cutting and anti-clockwise for downward cutting. Downward Cutting

As standard on all flailheads the rear roller can be manually adjusted to suit different applications.
The cushioned rear roller is an optional upgrade on 1.2, 1.5m and 1.6m Multicut flailheads.
The hydraulic roller is an optional upgrade on 1.2, 1.5m and 1.6m Multicut flailhead.
When verge mowing the roller can be adjusted to change the cutting height and when hedge cutting it can be set higher to avoid coming into contact with the hedge.
Designed specifically for verge mowing, the cushioned roller is wrapped with a thick layer of rubber to improve performance.
It enables the operator to change the height of the roller via the incab Power Arm controls, ideal for switching between hedge cutting and bank maintenance.

All McConnel Flailheads are fitted with an adjustable front hood as standard. To minimise the throwing of debris particularly when roadside working the hood should be adjusted to the lowest position. When the front hood is fully raised, larger growth can pass underneath to the rotor and flails.
A Wire Trap System is incorporated as a standard feature on all McConnel flailheads. Any loose ends of wire which are picked up and carried into the rotor are immediately cut by the wire trap and will fall to the ground.

The Direct Drive system incorporates the hydraulic motor in the side of the flailhead casing.
The location of the hydraulic motor on the flailhead can be specified to suit your requirements.

TwinCut Flailhead Featuring not one but two high-powered spiral rotors, the McConnel TwinCut flailhead has been specially designed to tackle mature hedgerows in a single-pass – delivering both a heavy-duty cut and a fine finish in one operation. The flailhead’s unique double cutting action saves time, cuts fuel costs, and increases the amount of work that can be done in a day. The first rotor is equipped with a heavy-duty T-flail which cuts in a downward direction, reducing the amount of debris thrown forward. The material is finely mulched and the bulk is retained within the hedgerow. The second rotor is set 50mm lower, cuts in an upward direction and is equipped with a fine-cut McConnel Competition-flail. This combination is perfect for shaping the hedge and leaving behind a precise and attractive finish. The unique design of the TwinCut also removes the need for a hood cover, ensuring a smoother flow of materials into the flailhead, and allowing operators to cut closer to obstacles and posts for greater productivity and precision.

Featuring a high-position flex-arm and twin rotary cutting heads, the machine enables operators to cut around obstacles such as guard rails, and road signs. Flexwing Features Shredder Kit Upgrade
McConnel flex-wing mowers are available with different blade configurations to suit the needs of individual applications. All configurations use free swinging, ‘up-draft’ blades that lift the crop for cutting, ensuring no material is left uncut.
McConnel flex wing mowers are available with a walking axle upgrade. Each pair of wheels has been designed to pivot around the axles so even when the surface is uneven the mower still travels smoothly.

Leg Design
Unlike conventional subsoilers McConnel Shakaerators have a patented vibration unit which reduces draught when in work. As a result less horsepower is required compared to a subsoiler without a vibration unit.
The unique design of McConnel Shakaerator legs ensures subsoil is not mixed with top-soil, but is heaved and aerated. Conventional cultivator legs turn the soil and bring unwanted subsoil to the surface
McConnel's innovative gas-strut pressure release system offers the very best in break back protection, safeguarding the legs of our Discaerators and Shakaerators in even the toughest conditions.

The mechanical option has a four-life shear bolt system which breaks when the legs hit a foreign object.
Leg Configuration
All McConnel Shakaerators can be fitted with different leg configurations to suit soil types and tractor horse power. Closer spacing of legs reduces draught as each shank helps its neighbour.

Seedaerator Stage 1
Low-disturbance leading legs working only the soil where the seed will be placed
Cultivating the land in strips ensures the adjoining soil structure is left undisturbed and crop residues remain on the surface to decay – releasing nutrients back into the ground and creating a living biotic soil with high levels of organic activity. This method protects the soil from the elements and delivers improved soil quality, aeration, water percolation and moisture retention, creating a perfect environment for crop growth.
