AGGREGATE PROCESSING

Crushing Rock We specialize in crushing low silica materials such as limestone, gypsum, trona, salt, coal and more. Our crushing equipment is designed to minimize “fines” generation while efficiently handling wet, sticky feeds. As a world-wide leader and innovator in the design and manufacture of this type of equipment, you can rely on us to deliver the best in quality, service and experience.

ROLL CRUSHERS Roll Crushers are an ideal machine to minimize “fines” generation and/or to handle wet, sticky materials that would be impossible for traditional primary crushers to handle efficiently. The combination of impact compression and shearing action breaks the material along its own inherent fracture planes. McLanahan Roll Crushers use innovative tramp relief systems (no shear pins or gas cylinders) so that you don’t have to stop production if uncrushable material is in the feed. AVAILABLE IN SINGLE, DOUBLE, TRIPLE AND QUAD ROLL CONFIGURATIONS DEPENDING UPON THE APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS.

IMPACT FEEDER-BREAKERS Impact Feeder-Breakers are a new solution for in-pit primary crushing. An easy to use, easy to move alternative to traditional primary crushers, they can handle feed sizes up to 48" (1200mm) with capacities to 1,200 STPH (1090 MTPH), eliminating hydraulic rock breakers. Supplied with either a skid or powered/non-powered crawlers, expensive foundations are eliminated. Material is dumped directly onto the drag chain and flight bars pull material into

2

the crushing chamber. Excess fines are minimized since already-to-size or just-crushed material falls to the deck and is pulled under the rotor. Product sizes such as a nominal 12" (300mm) can be achieved or the unit can be adjusted to make other products such as rip-rap.

DDC-SIZERS DDC-Sizers are an evolution of the Double Roll Crusher. McLanahan Corporation has been manufacturing this low profile, compact crusher for over 50 years, having first introduced them to the brick and clay industry to handle wet, sticky feeds. Use of slow roll speeds allow the material to be grabbed more efficiently and differential roll speeds impart a self-cleaning action on the rolls for sticky feeds. Tramp iron protection is provided via a torque controlled coupling located between the motor and reducer. Direct hydraulic drives are also available for extremely tough applications to reduce shock loading. One roll is adjustable to control product size as the rolls wear over time. Since the McLanahan DDC-Sizer incorporates heavyduty compact drives, anchoring the unit to the foundation is not necessary. Therefore, it can be mounted on tracks and rolled out from under hoppers or chutes for easier access during normal maintenance or to remove a piece of uncrushable material.

Scrubbing Rock Confused about how to clean your rock efficiently AND get the highest return on investment? Dealing with a tough clay or do you have a water soluble crusher dust coating your rock? Let us work with you to determine the best solution using the most cost effective equipment and processing techniques. One type of equipment does not fit all applications, that’s why we offer more choices than any other manufacturer.

ROTARY SCRUBBERS

COARSE MATERIAL SCREW WASHERS

Rotary Scrubbers can be used as a primary washing device to remove loamy, soluble clay completely or as a pre-washing device prior to crushing, screening and additional washing equipment. These units can be fitted with either single or double shell screen extensions to dewater and separate materials.

Coarse Material Screw Washers are used to remove light, loamy clays, crusher dust and other soluble waste fractions from feed materials. Each Coarse Material Screw is designed for your application by adjusting the number of paddles (20, 40 or all) and the operating slope. Rising current helps lift waste fractions to the water surface where they are then floated over the back weir.

AGGREGATE CONDITIONERS Trommel Screens or Trommel Scrubbers offer an efficient way to remove soluble clays while screening material at the same time.

LOG WASHERS Log Washers are designed to remove tough plastic clay, soft rock or other friable waste. Using replaceable, abrasion resistant paddles fixed to a twin shaft design ensures that an aggressive washing action breaks down even the toughest clay. We always recommend that a wash or rinse screen be used after the Log Washer to ensure the final removal of any coatings.

Aggregate Conditioners are generally used as a pre-washing device (prior to a Sand Classifying Tank or Wash Screen) to improve the classifying ability of the tank or for easier removal of waste fractions when screening. While similar in appearance to Coarse Material Screw Washers, they differ in processing technique. Aggregate Conditioners do not have a weir overflow. All material and water fed into the unit must be discharged out of the bottom of the box, so it is not practical to discharge material onto a conveyor.

The new standard of Log Washers, the McLanahan X-treme Log Washer, can handle capacities up to 500 STPH using reinforced paddle bases, larger drives and lower operating slopes.

potential to be used in a higher priced end product.

RECIPE SAND PLANTS The Recipe Sand Plant is the most versatile method for producing sand. Utilizing equipment, including Cyclones, Hydrosizers™ and Dewatering Screens, the systems produce discrete sand fractions for storage in bins. Based upon the desired end product, feeders at the bottom of these bins meter the exact quantity to meet the most stringent gradations. This type of system allows you to produce a myriad of construction sands and/ or specialty sands.

SAND-MANAGER ® CLASSIFYING TANKS Sand-Manager ® Classifying Tanks provide a simple method to remove excess water, slimes or undesirable grain sizes from natural or crushed sand feeds. By separating the sand fractions and reblending them according to a computer program, you can make multiple products simultaneously from the same feed. Products from the Sand-Manager® Classifying Tanks are dewatered with Fine Material Screw Washers or Dewatering Screens. With low initial cost and easy operation, this system offers advantages to producers primarily interested in making concrete and mason sands.

ULTRA SAND PLANTS Systems for natural and manufactured sands utilizing Cyclones, Dewatering Screen(s), Sumps and Pumps are designed to control the bottom end of the sand spec while producing the driest possible product. Single and multiple product and modular plants available. Advantages: Improved yield, highest production rate, drier product and modular design.

SAND SEPARATOR SYSTEMS Separator™ Systems retain more of the critical finer fractions instead of sending them to settling ponds. This retained tonnage moves across your scale as a saleable product. In addition, sharper classification versus conventional methods, such as Screws, can result in improved sand equivalency (SE). The Separator™ is the original controlled underflow Cyclone. In 1972, this technology was patented with the design and expertise owned by McLanahan.

DEWATERING SCREENS

SCREW WASHERS Screw Washers are an effective way to wash, dewater, deslime and control the bottom end of the gradation. A large pool area provides maximum retention of desirable product sizes, while a rising current system floats off the excess “fines”.

Dewatering Screens were introduced in the late 1970’s by McLanahan personnel and quickly became the standard in the mining industry. Dewatering screens offer multiple advantages for construction and specialty aggregate producers, including a dry “drip-free” product that other types of equipment cannot provide. Dewatering Screens are used in many applications including dewatering products from Sand Classifying Tanks and Screws, or within a system such as the Recipe Sand Plant.

Advantages: Simple to operate, limited maintenance and low power consumption.

Advantages: High capacities, multiple products, better stockpile management, low power consumption, low maintenance and driest product.

Contaminant Removal Is your pit contaminated with lignite, coal or shale? Now, with our help, you can turn an undesirable pit into a money-maker, capture new markets and reduce complaints. With conventional equipment or specialty systems such as the Lites-Out,™ we are able to solve any problem.

COARSE MATERIAL SCREWS

LITES-OUT™

Coarse Material Screws are not only an effective way to remove a light, loamy clay or crusher dust, they also remove floating vegetation such as sticks and twigs.

Lites-Out™ Systems – either as a stand-alone system or as an add-on to your existing Sand Classifying Tank – will remove lignite and other low gravity contaminants from sand. This unique, gravity based process does not require the addition of any chemicals or heavy media such as Ferro-Silicon or Magnetite to achieve separation. This same technology can be used for soil remediation and construction debris applications.

ULTRA CLEAN ATTRITION SCRUBBERS The Sand Stabilization Process (SSP) uses proven mineral processing techniques to effectively deal with deleterious materials affecting Durability and SE’s. By creating an environment of high shear, coupled with state-of-the-art dewatering and desliming technologies, the process is a significant improvement over Screw/ Blade-mill based processes which are a current industry standard.

Mobile Systems McLanahan uses proven technologies in innovative ways offering customized transportable (mobile systems) for primary sand production, classification, fines recovery, environmental projects and effluent treatment.

Fines Recovery As an innovator in the industry, we have developed the largest range of fines recovery equipment available. Our customized systems recover usable product and reduce environmental liability.

SEPARATOR SYSTEMS

ULTRA FINES RECOVERY PLANTS

Recovery of +200/325 mesh (75/45 micron) material using the Separator ™ System is the simplest, most cost-effective, way of recovering sellable “fines” from waste streams. Systems feature the original Separator™ (either single or multiple units) coupled with the rubber lined Pump to provide trouble free, low maintenance operation. Recovered material can be selectively blended back into Screws, road base mix or stockpiled as a stand alone product such as mortar, tile, cable fill, flowable fill, AgLime, etc.

Recovery of +400 mesh (38 micron) “fines” as a conveyable, stackable product is cost-effective using the Ultra Fines Recovery System (UFR). Featuring field proven equipment, this system provides the finest size fraction recovery available without the use of chemicals. Installation costs are kept low due to the modular construction. Start-ups are faster with the integrated design.

Advantages: no chemical or polymers needed, modular design, non-plugging cyclones.

Water Management McLanahan is a leader in providing complete effluent treatment/water management solutions.

THICKENERS The McLanahan designed High Rate Thickener is simple in design and operation with specific benefits for today’s producers. After removing usable materials from the effluent stream, Thickeners recover immediately re-usable process water adjacent to the plant site. The availability of water at the point of use substantially reduces pumping HP. Because the volume of the Thickener’s effluent is small, there’s no need for large settling ponds and process water ponds to take up valuable real estate and other resources. This, then reduces water consumption and mitigates environmental issues.
