THE PEPYS ROOM We are delighted to introduce a new event space at Lutyens - The Pepys Room. By day it is a sanctuary from the hustle and bustle of Fleet Street, as part of our Private Members’ Club, and by night the room can be used for a range of events; from drinks receptions and private dining to presentations or a lively gathering with a DJ and late bar. The Members’ Club closes at 5pm and the space is available immediately after this time until midnight – a later licence can also be arranged with sufficient notice. While 85 Fleet Street boasts a famed architect and a recent past as home to the Press Association and Reuters news agency - before their move to Canary Wharf, it is also the birth place of renowned London diarist Samuel Pepys. The room boasts a large picture of the ‘blue plaque’ marking the history of the location, plus, a small alcove displaying artwork of ‘The miserable and calamitous spectacle!’, the 1666 Great Fire of London, and some Vanity Fair cartoons of Baron de Reuter, amongst its larger art collection. The versatile space can accommodate up to 40 people for a seated dinner on round tables, or up to 20 people on one table, with plenty of space for pre-dinner drinks and canapés. The room is also suitable for standing drinks receptions for up to 100 people. For further information or to arrange a viewing, please contact our Events Team.
