80/20 Principle The 80/20 Principle; also known as the Pareto Principle. In essence, this means that roughly 80% of effects come from 20% of causes. In business this same concept is often referred. For example, from 500 clients, the profit was actually being made by 20% of the clients. The idea is that 80% of our revenue comes from 20% of the parishioners however, the question is does this hold true in Parishes? No, roughly 7% of Catholic Parishioners are doing almost everything in their faith community (p. 11 The Four Signs of a Dynamic Catholic) As we move forward, the important thing is the focus of a strong parish community. 2

Observation In observation from what I have presented, St. Peter & St. Paul
Parish lack ministries and people to take on these ministries. At this point in time we are running out of human resources. Next year there will not be any youth Altar Servers at St. Peter’s.
The world is a different place; this isn’t the church that we grew up in or our parents attended. As Sheila mentioned the demographics show we are not being replaced with youth or young adults.
We need to make a strategic plan to maximize our strengths,
gifts and resources in reaching our community with the Gospel.
