December 2015February 2016 Prayer Bulletin From the Principal … The kingdom, the power and the glory belong to our God. It doesn’t always look that way from our vantage point in the middle of things. There are many other claimants in our world to sovereign power and the allegiance of men and women. It is easy to be overwhelmed by the displays of grandeur, popular support, and raw power that we are exposed to from time to time. Yet it is all really an illusion. The kingdom, the power and the glory are his. As we pray it is important to realise where true power lies and who is the one who is working all things—the good and the bad, the pleasant and the far less than pleasant, the light and the dark—towards the goal he has always intended. Our heavenly Father is able to answer our prayers because no kingdom can stand against his kingdom, no power has the slightest chance against the power of him who brought all things into existence, and no glory is real and long-lasting except that which belongs to him. It makes sense to pray to him. Just as important, though, is the way a recognition of where the kingdom, the power and the glory really lies shapes the way we pray. We pray for the concerns of God’s kingdom rather than simply our own little empires. We want to see men and women come to terms with his kingdom. It is the kingdom of God but it is also and at the same time the kingdom of his beloved Son, who gave his life to rescue men and women from the dominion of darkness. Letting the reality of the kingdom shape the way I pray will mean praying for more than just the narrow concerns of this moment or this place or this particular ministry. God’s kingdom includes those things but it is much more than those things. Our concern at Moore College is to bring the claims of the kingdom upon every man, woman and child on earth. Our concern is to see all people gathered by his power and rejoicing in his glory. Do these concerns loom large in your prayers too? Thank you for your prayers throughout this year. I do hope this prayer bulletin will provide you with what you need to keep praying. We are so dependent upon your prayers because we always remain dependent upon our heavenly Father and the means he has chosen to use to accomplish his purpose. Thank you again. Mark Thompson PRAYING FOR OUR EXITING STUDENTS Accompanying this Prayer Bulletin is a separate Exiting Students Prayer Booklet. The booklet contains specific prayer points for each student as well as some general prayer points for all students inside the front cover. We have divided the students over the weeks of December to February. The number in brackets after the person’s name refers to the page number on which they appear in the booklet. We hope you find this helpful. Moore Theological College 1 King Street Newtown NSW 2042 Ph: (02) 9577 9999 www.moore.edu.au
