PowerPoint 1: All About Me Slide 1: Title Slide 1.

Click where it says “Click to add title” and type All About Me.

3.

That’s it! You have created your first slide. However, it looks pretty boring. Before we move on to our next slide, let’s change the design or the theme of the presentation. 4.

Click the Design tab at the top of the screen. In the middle of that ribbon, you will see several theme choices. Hover over any of the designs to see what it will look like.

5.

Once you find a theme you like, go ahead and click it.

You can also change the color combinations of the theme you have selected. 6.

Click Colors on the Design tab and choose a color combination that you like.

The last thing we are going to do is customize the background of the slide. 7.

Click Background Styles on the Design tab and choose a background style you like.

Design tip: When you have a dark-colored background, choose a light-colored font. If you have a light-colored background, you should have a dark-colored font.

7x7 Rule As we learned, a PowerPoint presentation is very similar to an outline indicating the major points of our presentation. You should not type paragraphs or even sentences in PowerPoint; only phrases should be used. The rule to remember when preparing a PowerPoint presentation is that you should not have more than seven words next to a bullet. You should also remember to have no more than seven bulleted items on a single slide. This is called the 7x7 rule. If you find that you will exceed this number, just break the information into two or more slides. 3.

Click where it says “click to add text” and type in the following items (pressing Enter after each one) • • • • •

Your birthday (spell out the month) The city and state where you were born Your current age 6th grade DC Everest Middle School

The next thing you need to do is add an image on this slide. You can either add a clipart image, animated clipart (choose “video” for the file type), or a photograph. 4.

Click the Insert tab and then click Clip Art.

5.

Along the right side, type the keyword in the search box and click the down arrow to choose the file type.

6.

Make sure the “Include Office.com content” box is selected and then click Go.

Design tip: You may also use images from the Internet, as long as you give credit. Insert a text box that says “Photo taken from whateverwebsite.com” below the image. (not google.com) F:\Computer Skills\PowerPoint\All About Me (PowerPoint)--instructions.docx
